Chapter 32 - XXXII

"Oh . . . I think you are talking about the girl who was with you, right?" he asked rubbing the back of his neck as he sat down on a stool.

"Yes, I am," she replied hastily. "Where is she?"

"She is outside. She is waiting for you outside."

Aurora sighed in relief. This felt better, now she could think about other things.

"Now, I think it is your turn to answer my questions," the Duke said in a serious tone.

"Oh . . .what question?" She asked puzzled. She felt strong desire to rest after exhausting all her energy trying to open the door.

"What were you doing in their kingdom?" he began to interrogate her.

"I went there to kill the king," she replied sincerely seeing no need to pretend since he must have witnessed what happened.

"Why? Why will you try to kill the Alpha? Because he hugged you?"

"No, for vengeance. His people killed my parents. They killed my siblings and my grandparents too," she replied monotonously.

Few days ago, she would have had her voice laced with anger and blood thirst but now, it seems she just felt neutral about the whole thing.

She had no feeling entirely. This was the first time she stabbed someone with the intention of killing the person.

"You did not kill him," the Duke informed her to her disappointment. "You only stabbed him, he did not die and I am sure he is also plotting vengeance."

Aurora was very shocked to the point that she could not come with anything to say as she stared blankly ahead at nothing in particular.

All her years of practices and trainings was thrown away because she messed up. She might have only made things worse.

Her people will only suffer for it. They will end up getting killed one by one by those crazy beasts because she made a single mistake.

She should have waited just like her teacher told her to. She should have waited for the full blood moon to rise so she could stab him when he can never get healed.

According to her teacher, they have the power to heal themselves on every other except that day. The day the moon is red and round up in the sky.

On that day, at night, they lose their healing power and every other supernatural power bestowed upon them by the moon goddess.

They won't be able to transform to their wolf form which is their most powerful form.

That was the night she was supposed to kill him. She was supposed to do it when it was certain that he will die not when she was forced by her emotions.

Her teacher will be very disappointed and her teacher will ask her why she did it when they meet.

She felt embarrassed because she failed them all and brought more trouble to her kingdom.

Her family members who died in the hands of those beasts will look down upon her and shake their heads because they most have trusted that she will be able to do it.

"Hey, are you okay?" the Duke asked. He stood up from the chair he sat and walked to her bed.

"I am okay," she replied as she moved her gaze to him. She noticed he looked very worried.

"Who told you that stabbing could kill him? He is the strongest supernatural being and you tried to kill him with a knife? Only a knife?

"Someone must have lied to you that it was possible. I don't believe that you are reckless.

"That was an uncalculated move, which is so unlike you. Who told you to kill him. The king have been searching for you in the capital.

"They said you ran off with a man you were with in the middle of the night. Is that true?"

Aurora left all his questions unanswered. She turned away from him and faced the wall.

She could not be bothered by anything else at a point like this when she felt like a total failure.

"Why don't you want to answer. Is there anything else you are hiding from me?

"I am your fiancé for goodness sake. Is there anything about this that I should not know?

"You should tell me everything. For vengeance? How did you know how to get to their kingdom. Who gave you the map?

"I want to know the person that sent my future wife-to-be to her death. Who sent you to kill the Alpha King?

"What makes you think someone sent me? Can't I do something on my own for my people and for my family?" Aurora asked dryly.

"I know someone sent you. I know someone made you go. I know someone is behind it all that is why I want you to confirm it."

"What if I do? What if I tell you the person's name? What will you do to the person?"

She felt the guy was whining too much and she wanted him to leave her in peace. Isn't it enough that she failed? Why should she get a worse luck with this fake fiancé of hers.

"I . . .," he began but later shut his mouth and returned to his seat.

"I don't like you," she said without hesitation.

"I know," he gave her shocking reply.

"Then, why? Why do you keep disturbing me?"

"Disturbing you?"

"Yes. You have never seized to pester me and you are doing it again."

"I saved your live for goodness sake," he said feeling wronged.

"I did not ask you to save me. I wanted to die."

He laughed sadly as though he was trying very hard not to cry. "I guess your life belongs to me then."

Aurora felt too tired to have to deal with someone like him. She slowly laid on the bed and covered herself in the soft fur blanket.

"Your life is mine since I saved your life, right? You clearly don't want your life anymore but I want it. I want you to keep to living that is why I saved your life," he told her firmly.

Aurora was not scared of him or anyone else but she felt fear when she heard what he said about her life.

She noticed that he wasn't as simple as he appeared and she wondered what awaited her with him.
