Chapter 1 - Pain

Sigrid's tears fell from the pain of knowing the truth, and not from the glass' debris that's on her hand.

"Shit! Someone hurry and call the head maid!" said Duke Karim, scared that the broken glasses would harm his daughter's hand.

Amanda, the head maid, was shocked by the scene that she saw. Her Lady, Sigrid, was always careful with every move she'll make, so how come this graceful lady would drop the tea set?! But what most filled her face with horror was the red liquid that's dripping out of Sigrid's hand.

"My Lady! Please pass me those debris!", Amanda hurriedly offered her hand as she kneels down to level herself to Sigrid, who is now sitting on the floor while still picking up the broken glasses.

The lady doesn't seem to hear her from saying anything, it's as if she's out of this world, and the only thing that's working is her body. Because of that, the maid decided to copy what she's doing, the move that Amanda made seemed effective when she saw Sigrid flinch a bit.

"W-What are you doing!" Sigrid exclaimed. It's as if the lady isn't aware of the debris that are on her hand, but only noticed it the moment she made a sudden move from trying to stop Amanda from picking up the broken pieces of the tea cups. The head maid doesn't seem to mind continuing what she's doing, but only falters when she sees Sigrid's hand. "We shall treat your wound, My Lady," she then stands up after taking those things out of their hands to aid the wound on her hand.

She asked the other maid to offer a hand for their lady, "I must not touch your hand after picking up those glasses. I'm scared there are still some on my hand," Amanda then passed the tray to some other maid, sending some signals that those are needed to be cleaned as soon as possible and as well as the rest that's still on the floor.

"I'll prepare your bath right away, My Lady. This way please." Amanda then gestures to tell the lady and the other maids to follow her.

Sigrid's mind can't still function properly because of the commotion, it's still blank, as if her mind itself doesn't want to process everything she witnessed. But then, she was still surprised when her father called her.

"Sigrid! Please, hear me out!" his chest tightens when he sees her daughter walking away from him... from them. What the Duke just did shocked most of the people on the hallway, it's not like him to lose his composure. But who are them to judge? Karim always loved her, despite her identity, he loved her like their real child.

She chuckled, "What's that... You won't even try to deny it, Father?" her voice trembles from the heavy weight she's carrying. Sigrid can't even face him, not wanting to show her pathetic look. On the other hand, Karim didn't say anything, to defend himself from the fact that her daughter heard.

Sigrid turned her face to finally look at his father. "I'm sorry for the attitude I've shown. I must take my way now." she bows then walks away from where the commotion has happened. To the place where their happy memories are engraved.
