Makani went home and things were back to normal for me at home for that day. "Mom? Are you sure I am up for this job?" "I hope so sweetie. Isn't that why the goddess will train you starting tomorrow?" "I guess so. I'm just a little nervous." "Oh it will be fine honey. I'm sure." "Um mom? There is something I need to tell everyone. It will be shocking so I need dad here too. Where is he?" "Oh here he is. Honey we need to have a family meeting." "Ok sure." So we sat down on our couch which was made of sponges like our beds. "Ok what is this news sweetie?" said mom. "Well." I took a deep breath and said. "I forgot to mention it when Makani was here. We are sort of…." "Sort of what honey?" "OK. We are engaged." I said really fast. "You what?" Said everyone in unison. "Yeah um. The goddess noticed how close we were and how much time I spend with him. She knew I had 2 men in my heart but she cleared it up when she noticed how much time I spend with him and she suggested we get engaged. She asked if we both thought it was ok. He said he didn't have a problem that it was not up to only him. So I agreed by saying I need to go on more dates before we go any further." "I see." Said Dad. "Dad? What is it?" "Hmm. Oh nothing. Does this boy have an older brother?" "Yeah his name is Konane. Why?" "I thought so. He looked similar to him. I am happy for you sweetie. When he comes down to visit you have to officially announce it and we have to have a party for it." "Yes father. I am sure that his family will do the same. By the way is something the matter with Konane? Is he dangerous or something?" "No nothing like that don't worry honey." "Ok dad." "I knew you were close sis. I never knew you were that close yet." "haha yeah. Oh did you hear the new law father and mother?" "Yeah we did. That's great. Your future kids are going to be the next god or goddess." Said mom. "Well if the gods agree otherwise they will pick at random." "Ok lets go to bed its getting late." "Yeah mom. I will."
The next morning it was time to train with the goddess. I said goodbye to mom and dad, then my brother and I left. "Hey Nen. How is your training going?" "Oh her assistant Mina is not too strict but a little bit. I am learning a lot." "Good." "Sis I know how you are. Listen to what she says ok? That way you can be goddess sooner than later ok?" "Yes little bro I know." I ruffled his long hair and we swam off.
"Hello Goddess." I said. We both bowed and she said "Arise. Ok so Nen continue with Mina. Once Naia gets going for awhile I will see how well you can do ok?" "Yes Goddess." Said Nen. So he went away and it was just me and the Goddess.
"Ok are you ready to train?" "Yes Goddess." "OK lets first start off with showing you around." She showed me around then to the office where I will be staying at for paper work. "Ok as for the paperwork you will be doing lets sit down here and read through together." So we sat down and I looked at the papers with her. "Wow a lot of these are for other lands." "Yes we help out on land other places. We try to go where they will accept us." "I see. So how exactly do you make an alliance?" "Hmm. Good question. Well I would think it would start off by asking the person in charge if you can talk, then you ask if they want an alliance. Then you talk about what you can do for each other as part of the alliance as well." "I see so sort of like trading." "Well not always but yes that is an idea." "So basically a goddess is sort of like a king or queen of the ocean right?" "I guess so. But there is more than one goddess of the ocean depending on what part of it you are living in. In this part of the ocean I am the goddess. The ocean is big so there is quite a few." "I see. Are we allied with a lot of them?" "Here is the list of our allies." She handed me the paper and I looked at the list. It was 10 pages long. "Wow we are allied with a lot of people." "Yes we are. There are some papers your brother can look at while you work on the major ones. If he had any questions to ask you. Would be one of his duties." "Oh that's good so I won't be overworked. Do gods and goddess care for their kids? Or do nurses take care of them?" "Well I guess it would be your choice. At times you will have your servants watch them because you are busy other times you can have fun with them." "I see. That's good then."
Next she told me another thing we did and the charts of different people to keep track of under the ocean. "Wow there are a lot of people Goddess. How do you keep track of your whole part of the ocean?" "Oh that's easy. When you have completely became goddess you will have a power like this." Then she did a hand motion and a screen came up. "This is all the people I keep track of. They are green if they are healthy. Blue if they are sad and red if someone is sick and black if they die. Yellow is them coming to me with a problem they have. If they are happy or excited to tell me something that is yellow." I was taking notes while she was talking and noticed me. "Hehe my dear. You don't need to write notes. When you become Goddess you will know this already. I just needed to let you know how I keep track of everyone." "Oh ok then." "Tomorrow I will make myself invisible and you as well to the humans and show you how I keep track of them on land." "Ok nice. So when do you think my brother can test out his abilities with me?" "Lets see how you do with what you learn today and do it tomorrow then maybe he can try out his responsibilities the next day." "Ok great! Oh a question. Will my assistant who my brother will be come on land too?" "Not all the time but yes. There will be times he needs to come with you to land. Even Mina comes on land sometimes with me." "Oh that's cool. Um Goddess? Our next break can I take my brother up on the surface to show him around?" "Yes but just to be safe I will have 2 of my guards come with you to be safe. Don't worry I will put a spell to be invisible to humans." "Ok cool. Thanks so much Goddess." "Most of the time I deal with paperwork. When I am not dealing with that I go to the piano and check to see how everyone is doing." "Oh speaking of the piano Goddess, the sound is pretty and all but is there a way we can find to live without one? I mean before it was built we lived fine right?" "Well I am sure there is but for right now the piano is what is keeping us well and healthy. Speaking of the piano. Let me show you something." I followed her to a special room that other people are working at. "Oh I thought it was just you?" "Nope I couldn't do everything myself." "I guess that's true."
We finally got to the area she wanted to show me. There was a paper that had a sort of light on it like magic. "I'm sure you know what this is right?" "Well it looks like the sea piano." "Yes that is right. We keep track of it playing. Underneath it shows what they are playing. It doesn't matter what they play as long as it plays we should be ok. I hope when you do become goddess you find a way to live without a piano like before. As for the reason we had to build something is that there were creatures that came and attacked us. Now that people are used to the music their bodies react to the music when it plays or doesn't play. It has a negative affect when it stops." "I see that makes sense. I guess I will slowly have to wean the people off of music a little at a time no matter how long it takes." "Well the little ones will be easier to wean off. The adults and elderly not so much." "I understand. I realized that when I thought of it. I liked the idea you had to make the Goddess and Gods child to be the next ones. It will take the pressure off of the courts above to choose a random person." "Well lets hope at least one of your future children will be the ones to take your place then you can train them earlier and by that time they will be ready." "Yes Goddess. Thank you. If I didn't tell you before, thank you for all you have done for me and my family." "Oh honey I should be the one thanking you but you are welcome." "What did I do to earn thanks?" "Well you and your brother are the only ones to come over and spend time with me. The first goddess since the goddesses started which was only 1 before me, never got married or had kids and neither have I. So I hope when you become goddess you will do your best with your future children." "Thank you Goddess." Then she showed me some other things then me and my brother were finally able to go home.
"Mom dad were home." I said tiredly. "Oh welcome home kids." Said mom. "I'm going to bed mom. I'm exhausted." I went to my room and crashed on the bed. We sometimes make stuff that we find from wrecks when we can. "Sigh. I am so tired. No wonder she gets so tired its hard work being a goddess. I just hope our break this weekend will go well on the surface and my training goes well." Then she fell asleep.
Nen was worried about his sister so he went to check on her. He cracked the door and saw she was asleep. He went in and felt her forehead to be sure she was ok. Which she seemed to be. "Hmm. Brother?" "Yeah sis. Are you feeling ok?" "Hmm. Yeah I'm fine. Just a little tired." "Good. I'll let you sleep now." "Hmm. Don't go Nen. Come lay with me please." "Oh sis. Ok fine. Are you sure your ok? Your acting like a kid again." "Hehe I'm fine. I just want you by my side." "Ok then." He laid next to me and I cuddled to his chest and he brushed my hair. She fell asleep not long after.
Finally it was the day I got to see how she takes care of the others on the surface. We both skipped dinner last night because I cuddled with my brother. He said he didn't want to move because I looked comfortable.
"OK so when do we leave?" "Oh first we have to get some materials before we do. Come with me." I followed her to her office and she grabbed a few things and told me about them. Then we were on our way to the surface.

We finally made it and just before we came up she made us invisible to humans. The sea humans could see us though. "Um goddess? Before we do business, can I go and visit ocean?" "Yes we can do that." So we were off to Oceans place.
"Hey Ocean." "Oh good to see you Naia. You must be here on some business." "Yes this is the Goddess she is showing me how to keep track of our people on the surface. We are just stopping by to say hi. We are invisible to normal humans at the moment." "Oh I see." "Well nice to meet you Goddess." "Likewise Ocean. Thank you for taking care of Naia when she was here." "Oh no problem. We agreed I would be her guardian and big brother." "Oh that's even better." Then I told him about bringing my brother up here on the weekend. "Oh well I'd love to meet him. Looking forward to it." "Ok cool." "OK shall we go on our business now?" "Oh sorry. Yes Goddess." I said goodbye to Ocean then we did our business.
"Ok so the way we keep track is….Well first you said these were sea humans right?" "Yes Goddess." "Did you notice anything strange about me or what I was doing when we were there?" "I noticed you were looking closely at his eyes and body. Why were you doing that?" "Good observation. Yes I was. There was a reason for that. It was said that those who are sea humans change and may loose their sea human skin and ability to return. From what I saw from your friend Ocean I could tell he was using fake skin to protect his sea human skin. As for his ability to return I don't have a clue until they all return. As for how to keep track of them its another spell similar to the last one. Only the chart is different." She put her hands out and a chart popped out. "This chart only works when I am on land. So once in awhile I come to the surface to check on them. The same colors apply to those on land that they had for sea humans." "Oh I see." I watched closely to what she was doing. "Goddess? Can you zoom in and get a closer look at the people?" "Of course. Anyone particular?" "Makani perhaps?" "Lets see. Oh here he is." At the moment it looked like he was home eating with his family. "Hehe. Oh look his little sisters are so adorable." I watched in a dreamy like face then the Goddess must have seen me cause she chuckled. "Hehe. OK enough ogling at your fiancé." "Oh sorry Goddess." Then I cleared my throat. "Anyway is there anything else we need to do Goddess?" "Lets go visit some of the happy sad and sick ones on the list." I nodded.
"Ok here is Sabine's house." She was one of the sick ones. The goddess knocked on the door and Luckily it was Sabine's mom the sea human. "Oh hello Goddess. Here on business?" "Yes I am. Is your husband home?" "No he is at work. Are you invisible to humans right now?" "I sure am. I came to visit Sabine. How is she?" "She is doing better but not quite there yet. Come on in and visit. I'm sure she would love it if you do." We both came in and went to visit Sabine. Sabine was one born in the ocean but they moved to the surface for work reasons. So she was a full Sea human. "Hello Sabine." "Oh Goddess welcome." "Who is next to you?" "Oh excuse me. This is Naia. She is the next Goddess." "Oh well nice to meet you Naia." "You too Sabine." So we slowly got to know her and found out she had a severe illness but not life threatening. We left and went to visit another one. We went to the sad one next then the last one was for happy.
We ended up going to Makani's house next for the sad one. Once she got in she revealed herself to them Since not all were sea human yet at least. "Hello everybody." I said. Once Grace saw me she came running over. "Naia!" She gave me a big hug almost knocking me over. "Woah there Grace. Walk or you will knock me down." Then Makani came over and saw I was with the Goddess. "Hello Goddess welcome to our home." "Thank you Makani." Everyone was there so I asked the Goddess. "Goddess now that they are all here, may I do that thing I needed to do?" "Yes go ahead." "Will you all mind that we sit at the table?" I said. So we all sat at the table and noticed Makani was the one not doing to well. I sat next to him and whispered in his ear to what I was planning on doing. He nodded and agreed to what she said. "Well since it's a rare occasion you are all together I would like to officially announce our engagement together. I am sure you already knew this but I wanted to do it when we were together. I am sure you want to throw some sort of party. I know my family in the ocean wants to as well." "Well I will have you do that with your family first then we will talk about one up here ok?" said his mom. "Sure thank you. As for you Makani. I notice something is on your mind. Are you ok?" "Yeah I'm fine. I'm just a mixture of sad and nervous." "Oh no wonder that explains it. Is it about the engagement?" "No nothing like that. Its after we get married. I'm worried that I won't be a good enough husband or future father." "Sigh. Oh boy. Goddess when we are done with our business up here mind if I spend some time with Makani." "Sure no problem." "Now lets go to our last stop.
Our last stop was a teenage boy who recently moved up to the surface and got a place of his own. This was the happy one. His name is Kola. Goddess knocked on his door. He opened it. "Hello Goddess. Please come in you two." We walked in and he had us sit down on the couch. "What brings you two here?" "Oh I am training the next Goddess. This is Naia." "Nice to meet you Naia my name is Kola." "Nice to meet you Kola." "Likewise." "So I noticed you were happy about something." Said the Goddess. "I sure am. I just asked a girl out and she said yes that she would give me a call when she is free." "Oh well congrats Kola." Said the Goddess. "Congrats Kola." I also said. "Thank you both." After we talked awhile the Goddess explained a few more things then she left me up here and I headed back to Makani's place.
