2 WEEKS LATER.
It has been exactly 2 weeks since James has been home and he has settled in just right. He has taken a short course to criminal investigation class for 6 months. He said that he wants to get back in action so he decided to be a police officer, specifically a detective, something about the thrill of chasing criminals and solving cases like in the movies.
He is sometimes stuck in his own world.... that man.
I am back to work like usual and the twins are always wanting to hang out with James. I don't mind, it is still summer and they've gone quite close.
Ben and Hazel are getting married in a month's time and they're always calling to remind me to not forget about our flight and all that.
On the other hand, Hazel is always teasing me about her cousin Jacob and how we would make cute babies. Where did that thought even come to her mind? Like how did she come to that theory is beyond me?
As if that will ever happen. I'm not really into relationships at the moment and all my focus is on my siblings. Some people at work do call me Ice-queen or workaholic but that's not remotely true. I do take time off to see the twins and I do show emotions other than professionalism…right? Anyways it doesn't matter because I am at work and I need to focus on it anyways.
As I was arranging Edward's schedule, my mind immediately went to our dinner 2 weeks ago and how Jacob was reacting.
It was a bit weird and odd seeing him act that way. One minute he was happy, goofy and the next he was angry.
Angry at what exactly? I will never know but then he was giving us his biggest smile and laughing with us at our silly jokes and all that. Maybe he has a personality disorder. Or maybe he's just weird in general. I laughed at that thought—
"Alethea, cancel my 2pm meeting with the Flauns Industries, they've already conferenced called me all of a sudden this morning and all the details for the project has been discussed and be sure to schedule my dinner at one of the restaurants that Elizabeth likes at exactly 8pm tonight" Edward requested before turning around to head back into his office.
That would be the 4th time Edward has asked me to change his schedule for today and I am bit puzzled with all the sudden changes but I still do what I am asked to do but before I could do anything he came towards my table again and asked me to get him some hot coffee.
"Of course, sir, anything else from the cafeteria?" I asked him
"Cafeteria?!" he asked incredibly.
I frowned a bit before confirming it again to him.
"Uhh yes sir, where we always get our refreshments everyday…?" I confirmed.
"Right…the cafeteria—I forgot about that!! Damn it uhh…." He mumbled.
"Are you ok Edward? Everything all good?" I asked him now feeling a bit concerned.
"Yeah, everything is fine. Actually no, can you get me my hot coffee with 3 banana muffins from the cafe downtown? I really am in need of those banana muffins at the moment" he rushed out the words and was quickly gesturing for me to get out quickly.
"But sir, that cafe from downtown is actually 30 mins away without traffic and this time of the day is really hectic and plus I haven't finished a few of my work not to mention your sudden changes of the schedule today including your dinner appointment" I explained reasonably to him but he already has my coat and my purse and is pushing me out the office.
"You know what forget the schedule and just get me my muffins with the coffee and when you get back you can organize my dinner with Elizabeth" he said in a very sweet manner while still pushing me out of my office. It seems like he really wants me out of here and fast.
"Are you sure Edward? I mean I can get it but why are you---
"My goodness woman! Elizabeth is coming over and I just don't want any disturbance if you know what I mean. So, take your time getting there and getting back, ok?" Edward says now a bit embarrassed.
I finally understood what he meant when he wants me out. I quickly put on my coat and grabbed my phone and my purse from him before making my way to the elevator. He quickly came over and threw the car keys before the elevator doors close. I'm glad that I finally learnt my lesson and quickly caught the keys before they could do more damage to my nose.
"Now remember, take your time okay. Have some fun and don't talk to strangers. Your cousin will have my head if that ever happens so no….no stranger talking, ok? And Elizabeth told me you took Krav Mega classes so keep your guard up ok" Edward says. I feel like a little girl going on her first date.
"Right.... Edward they're just muffins" I say clearly trying to get out of whatever he is doing.
"Muffins can be dangerous" he pouted.
"Ok big guy, wait for Lizzie and have fun. I'll be back in an hour or 2. Sounds good?" I confirmed.
He nodded enthusiastically before pushing me into the elevator.
"Yeah, she's on her way out now. Good luck on---" Edward says over the phone and before I could hear more the door closed and the elevator is making its way to the parking lot.
"Well, he is too excited for his muffins but then its not the muffin at all" I mumbled and chuckled.
'Elizabeth is lucky to have someone like Edward…I mean they seriously love each other so much that if it is a crime, they'd be sentenced for life' my thoughts were interrupted by the elevator signaling that I've reached the parking lot.
I quickly made my way to my car and drove out of the parking lot and onto the 'Cafe Downtown' to get my boss's 'Banana muffins'.
45 MINS LATER.
Finally, I reached the cafe, there was a lot of traffic. I got out of my car and went inside the cafe.
'You've got be kidding me?!' I mumbled out clearly frustrated with the situation in front of me.
There is a long line. 'Ok Edward and Elizabeth better have my name for one of their kids because they're enjoying themselves while I'm here suffering in this long line.
I went over and stood right at the back of the line. There was like 15 people in front of me.
'Well, he did say to take my time' I thought
"Fancy seeing you here" I heard a very deep familiar voice say from behind me.
I turned around and my eyes instantly met his familiar blue ones.
My lips instantly twitched up a small smile. 'Well, isn't this lovely' I thought sarcastically.
"I could say the same thing about you" I replied sassily.
His lips curved up in a smirk as he towers over my small frame. In my defense, he is a giant, barbaric person whereas I am clearly the opposite of that.
