Chapter nine
Why's he playing in the main squad
Ignoring Chi An, Chung Kun said in his shrill tone, "Everyone, please pay attention now." Holding his hands in front of his body, palms facing down, with fingers spread wide, Chung Kun solemnly said, "Chi An would join the main squad, while one of you slackers would join the substitute team." Everyone could hear the coach's voice because it was like an electronic microphone. So they began to murmur, totally against his decision.
One rugby player said, "Why must this new person, whose ability we don't even know about, play for the active team?"
"That's not correct," another player interrupted the first speaker. "All new members must remain on the bench until further notice."
A rugby player interrupted, asking, "But, are you the coach?" Looking around, he declared, "When the coach declares, there is nothing more to do."
Another rugby player angrily said, "This is unbelievable. How good is that guy that he should make an aggressive play while replacing a veteran?" Filled with anger, the player continued, "Why didn't he play for his old club or school?"
The rugby players were surprised by the coach's sudden announcement. So their reactions were mainly in disagreement. Although few players remained indifferent to this announcement, many complained, and only a few looked at it differently, bringing in mixed reactions.
"You should all be quiet," Chung Kun pointed at them, furrowing his brows. After a pause, Chung Kun said in a shrill tone, "Are you the trainer? I have the veto power over who stays or leaves this team." He believed he could shut down the team if any players irritated him. After all, he considered the majority of the players as useless.
Suddenly, a player approached the blanked face Chi An who stood by the coach and hugged him professionally.
The nineteen-year-old player said, "Welcome to the squad, pal." The guy spoke in hushed tones.
Another player frowned, saying, "What is Huo Jin up to?"
Another player interrupted, "I expected Huo Jin to be the most difficult."
A player interrupted, quickly agreeing with the previous speaker, "Yeah. I expected this guy to reject the coach's choice."
Another person snorted, saying, "Even if he disagrees, what can he do about it?"
People considered Huo Jin influential and powerful, so they thought he would disagree with the coach.
Because of Huo Jin's actions, the other players became confused. Although most people didn't believe in that facade of humility, they thought he had more going on in his mind. After all, they didn't think he would be nice. Some thought his actions were more sinister.
Knowing about Huo Jin, Guotin Donghai thought, 'What in the world is Brother Huo up to?' Guotin Donghai stood among the squad members.
Seeing their reluctance, the coach yelled, "What are you still holding back in this moment of thrill? Can't you see Huo Jin introducing himself to the newcomer?" Frowning, Chung Kun gestured, saying, "Follow suit as soon as possible." His gesture compelled the players, who hesitantly moved forward to welcome Chi An.
Coming towards the rugby pitch, Nuan Mei jumped around excitedly, "Mey, you see. These guys are greeting your boyfriend cordially."
Jun Mey blushed as a result of Nuan Mei's remarks.
Jun Mey calmly thought, 'He's not my boyfriend.' looking ahead, she concluded, 'I see nothing friendly about their behavior because I believe they are more forced.' Jun Mey deliberately steadied her breathing and her steps.
Even though Jun Mey knew Chi An didn't value her presence (at least not in her opinion), she still wanted to meet him on his first day of rugby.
'It's not like I adore rugby,' she thought calmly, looking at the wide playing field.
The duo entered the grandstand and sat. Jun Mey quietly observed the entire procedure and took notes calmly.
