Scarlett was standing at a table, eyeing the transparent liquor in the glass that was placed on the rounded surface, Dylan and Alex sweet-talking next to her. The first floor of the house was crowded with a swarm of people. They were all mostly roundabout 25. When they entered the condominium, it couldn't be guessed whether there was a party being held in there.
The arrangements were made on the first floor that Dylan and the professor got to know after walking up the staircase. There was a large living space with a glass wall that overlooked a view of a swimming pool on that floor. Some couples had made themselves comfortable on the couches, making out, some were using rooms, the rest were outside. The girl preferred to be in the open air as the whole place reeked alcohol.
A blare of hooting up-roared when a boy jumped into the swimming pool, daring his girlfriend to also dive into the water. That was a silly dare announced by his friends who asserted that if his girlfriend really loved him, she wouldn't think twice to jump into the water after him.
She wouldn't think but the challenging factor of the dare was the cold water. The breeze was chilly, however, as everyone was intaking intoxicating beverages, it was helping their bodies to not react to the cold air by increasing the blood flow, making them feel warm outside. Nevertheless, how much the quantity of alcohol was taken, jumping into a swimming pool when the soft cool breeze was blowing was a whole different thing.
Some people also stepped out of living area, eager to know the cause of claps sounding around the place. The boy insisted on his girlfriend who was standing near the edge of the pool, shaking her head at such an unreasonable request.
Seeing his boyfriend's friends laughing and taunting fun at the boy, she slipped off her heels and got in the water to save the stupid a*s of her boyfriend from being mocked. She didn't have to do that to prove her love for the boy, she just couldn't stand her boyfriend's long face. The crowd cheered on the couple as they shared a heated, messy kiss initiated by the girl to shut the mouths of his friends.
Everyone present at the place was having fun, everyone except one. The professor. She was still a little stunned at the disclosure of Alex and Edric being brothers. They didn't look like brothers. Alex was handsome, a sunshine that would have anyone wanting to spend their day with.
Edric, on the flip side, was hot, having everyone dreaming to spend their night with. Alex was also not near the word 'innocent', he just possessed a friendly, cheerful personality in contrast to his brother whose every move oozed raunchy sex charm.
"If you're feeling cold we can go inside", seeing the girl quietly standing there, Alex paused his chit-chat with his boyfriend. The professor chose an off-white stretched bodycon dress having see-through mesh long sleeves paired with crepe strappy block heels. The brown smooth hair was parted from the center, streaming down her shoulders. The dress was touching her knees, leaving her milky legs exposed to the cold breeze of the night.
"Nah", finishing her first glass of the night, she switched her gaze to the boys.
"I'll have a walk around", saying that, she excused herself from the table and wandered through the crowd, looking into the surroundings. The lightning on the ground floor was brilliant. Medium-sized LED decorations were installed in every corner, white ceiling lightning was mounted shone to the ceiling, ambient lights scattered all over the place as if the sun was taken down and hung off the interior surface.
The first floor, oppositely, was vibing off a dimly lit ambiance. Crystal light fixtures were hanging low from the ceiling, spreading purple-yellowish lights that had created a warm, cozy environment.
Taking in the details, the girl walked through the glass door and shut it closed behind her. The inside was certainly cozier than the outside. But the smell of alcohol was toxic. Looking around, she spotted a table with...brownies? Who would have brownies at adult parties? She didn't mind though. Working on assignments, she again skipped lunch. She could take two to three to fill her empty stomach.
Grinning, she sauntered in the direction of the table. Picking the brown one with chocolate tip, she took a bite, making an 'mmm' sound at the delicious taste. In two more bites, the piece was resting inside her stomach. The intention she walked towards the table with to only eat three pieces was drowned by her stomach growling. They had been placed there to eat. Alex wouldn't mind if she alone ate the whole plate. Would he?
Analyzing the people around carefully, like a child stealing the cookies from a jar his mom had hidden in the kitchen, she picked up the plate and hurried down the stairs. No one would spot her eating there as everyone was on the first floor.
After walking down the stairs, she was stealthily making her way to the living space when she heard someone speaking. Two, there were two of them, a boy and a girl. The voices were getting near to her. Eating brownies wasn't anything to be ashamed of or hidden from the people. She wasn't sure if she would like anyone spotting her with a whole plate of them.
Immediately, her eyes picked on a door in their sight. Acting purely on instincts, she shortly grabbed the handle and pushed the door open before stepping inside and shutting it close. She fumbled for a light switch in the dark. When the button was turned on, the white light flooded the room.
To her luck, there was no one inside. Now she could eat without no one catching her. But there was one thing she was bothered by, the radiant lighting of the room. She tried different combinations of buttons on the buttons board until the white lights were switched with a blueish hue. That was perfect. Placing the plate on the mattress, she plopped herself next to it.
"Eney, Meeny, Minie, Moe
Which one of you shall go
Mercy will not be granted on any
Fudgy, cakey, chewy or jammy"
Thinking about which one to eat first, she started singing the lyrics she would sing when she had to choose one muffin from a plate after dinner. Her mom wouldn't let her eat more than one. Not to mention the hand slipping under the table, resting in the lap of the little girl until the piece was picked up by her. Her dad would always give his share to her. Sometimes Heaven was overly concerned about her health. It was okay to eat two.
"Cakey", she took the one that had chocolate chips on it in her hand and put the whole piece in her mouth.
