Chapter 2 - Into the Night

Tony saw her on the floor bleeding & carried her outside as her parents lied & lied about what happened, but he knew. He took her to the hospital after calling 911 & being allowed to sit in the ambulance with her.  Tony allowed her to live with his parents in an attempt to save her while trying to get his long-time girlfriend to meet his mother, Zekera Wallace Blackbell, & father, Yorell Wallace Blackbell. Zekera says "I can't believe you're dating a white woman."

💯

Yorell  inquired, "And what possessed you to date this girl from the countryside?" His skepticism stemmed from a belief that rural folks were unsophisticated, unsavory, dim-witted individuals who lacked refinement and clung to antiquated fashion sensibilities resembling rocks. Zekera, sharing his sentiments, held a similarly low opinion of people from rural areas.

Abbie says "Well, y'all know they don't call us Southern belles for nothin'."

😡

Zekera  says "You think you're pretty with all those bruises?" Abbie's eyes welled up, her voice trembled, and her cheeks became moist as her emotions overwhelmed her.

Yorell  says "You white folk are the ugliest things known to mankind & I'm not shocked that my black son chose an overweight white woman, Black choose the ugliest chicks on the market to date outside of their race."

😌

Repulsed by the assumption that Tony was forsaking his own racial identity, seemingly uninterested in black women solely based on their ethnicity, Zekera nearly expelled Abbie from their midst. However, Tony intervened, revealing Abbie's history of abuse, which prompted a reluctant concession from Zekera. "Fine," she grumbled, permitting Abbie to remain.

Abbie sought refuge within their household for a span of five weeks, until Tony's mother abruptly ejected her, accusing her of being a burdensome presence who consumed resources without contributing. Cast out once again, Abbie endured further mistreatment until she reached the age of seventeen.

🆘

Annie's parents harbored a dark, abusive side, concealed from their seemingly kind and Christian neighbors. In a community largely comprised of benevolent individuals, Abbie's parents took great pains to keep their malevolent actions hidden, even from Abbie herself, for fear that she might inadvertently reveal their heinous deeds.

🆘

Abbie has seen her parents have sex with people because, unknown to the neighbors, her parents didn't care. Her parents were twisted suckers.

With adrenaline coursing through her veins, Abbie cautiously navigated her dimly lit room, every creak of the wooden floorboards beneath her feet magnified by her racing heart. The moon's feeble glow filtered through her curtains, casting eerie shadows that danced across the walls.

She approached the window, her trembling fingers fumbling with the latch, praying it wouldn't make a sound. The hinges protested with a soft groan, but she managed to ease the window open inch by painstaking inch, the cool night air creeping in, carrying the scent of freedom.

With bated breath, she squeezed through the narrow opening, her lithe frame barely making a sound as she landed in the soft grass outside. The chill of the night bit at her exposed skin, and she shivered involuntarily.

In her haste, she had not thought to grab any possessions, not even a coat to ward off the cold. But the urgency of her escape left no room for regrets. She darted into the darkness, every rustling leaf and distant sound heightening her fear, and her determination to leave her tormentors behind grew stronger with every step.

Tony took her to live with him & Abbie moved back in with Tony for another five weeks, only to have sex with him & get pregnant. Abbie chose to keep this a secret.

🆘

To be continued...

  1. Zekera holds deeply prejudiced views, which are rooted in her personal experiences of racial injustice. She represents a segment of black women who have suffered at the hands of white individuals, leading to an intense animosity towards innocent white people.
