Chapter 40 - A new place to live

Thomas stood up and went straight to the guest room. He did not change his clothes nor did he fixes his messy hair. There he found a middle-aged man wearing expensive clothes. The man stood up and tried greeting him by shaking Thomas's hand, but Thomas ignored it and just asked "Who the f*** are you?

The king was surprised by Thomas's boldness, but he didn't take it to heart. "Young man, take a seat." The king smiled.

"And why would I do that. Maybe you should introduce yourself?" Thomas told him.

"Alright. My name is Joseph Dray Smith. I am the king of the elemental kingdom." the king told him, and was a bit frustrated that Thomas doesn't pay attention to him. Instead, he went to the bookshelf and took out some random books. He then went straight to his room. It was a fictional book about heaven and hell.

"What's his deal?" Joseph was curious. This is the first time someone was rude enough to ignore him even after knowing that he was a king. He felt intrigued.

Monica just rolled her eyes. " After awakening, he became quite the edge lord."

The king just laughed "Well, with his power, he has the right to be one, anyways. Can you tell him I have an offer to make? He might be interested if he decides to listen to it"

Monica nodded and went to invite Thomas once more. She opened the door and found him reading the book.

"Are you for real? You do know that man is the king right" Monica asked him.

"Don't know, don't care," Thomas replied.

"How about YOU go and listen to what he has to offer? He said he wants to make some sort of deal with you." Monica told him. Thomas became interested and lowered the book. He wondered, what the king has to offer. So he got up and once again went to the guest room.

The king just smiled and asked, "So, are you interested in what I want to tell you?" The king was interested in observing Thomas. He wanted to see if he would be a threat to his kingdom or a gift.

"Well, get to the point," Thomas told him. "I guess neither of us has a whole day"

"Ahh, yes. That's true." The king stood up. " I want you, to come to a royal capital and live in a castle. As far as I know, your old school will expel you for today's actions. So you will go to a royal school for nobles. Don't worry about being a commoner among nobles, with my recommendation, no one will treat you any different"

"Like hell, you wanna tell me, nobles will treat me as one of them? Dream on" Thomas started to become irritated. Not only he does not care about education, he knows nobles will not lower themselves in front of commoners. That was common sense that the king did not think of.

"I mean, in a worst-case scenario, you'll just beat the crap out of them. With my protection, they won't do anything" the king just laughed that off.

"Also, why would I want to go to school, what's in it for me?" Thomas was curious.

"First of all, you will live in a castle. Sound's fun? You will have maids and everything that I would have given my son if I had one. money, parties. Whatever you want." the king smiled.

Thomas was lost in thoughts. What is this guy after? Treating me like royalty? Why? " That's sounds suspicious. Why would you want me to come to live in a castle?"

"Your potential son. I want to invest in your future. Also, I would want to take in your little sister, but only if that's alright with you." the king told him. Monica who was listening to the conversation became pale. What? Living with royalty? That's too much for her. She waited for Thomas's reply. She thought he will just say something rude and then refuse. But, to her surprise, he agreed.

"Sounds fun, when do we move in?" Thomas stared at Monica. "Do you want to go to live in a castle? I'll go if you'll go."

Thomas was pretty excited, but he still did not want to go to a strange place alone. He wanted to be with someone close enough to call family.

"Can… Can I think about it?" Monica felt way too much pressure. Both the king and Thomas were staring at her. "I… I need to talk with our family first… You should do that as well Thomas… Don't you think?

"Why the hell should I care about their opinions." Thomas just frowned. "It's either you coming with me, or neither are going."

Thomas knew that this will pressure the family to let Monica go as well. And having her there with him would be better than having no one. He also became quite close with her in past few days. Despite how Thomas felt about his family, he still felt sad for having to leave them. Well, he felt bad if he'll have to leave Monica, so taking her with him is a must.

"You know, I can get you to visit them every day? Is my spatial magic a joke to you?" Thomas started teasing the poor girl.

"Let's wait for our parents first. Okay, Thomas? she said, but she now felt better about leaving home. It's true if she can see her parents every day, why does it matter where she will be living?
