Chapter 1 - Morning of Senior Year

BEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!! "Ughhhh", rolling over, eyes still closed, I patted my bed until I found my phone to turn off the annoying sound of my alarm. Having already pressed snooze three times, I really needed to get up now for school. It is the first day of senior year, and I did not want to be rushing to get ready for it. First day means all the girls of every grade from 9-12th were going to be looking their best, from their outfits, to their hair, to their make up. Most of the girls go all out because they want to impress boys, but for me I really did it for myself. I enjoyed getting dolled up, don't get me wrong, right when I get home I throw the bra off and instantly grab some sweat pants to put on, but there is just something that gives me that beaming confidence when I put together the right outfit and having my hair and make up on fleek.

I threw myself out of bed and walked over to my white vanity that had all my necessities. As I was sitting down, the sound of soft taps on the door rang in my ear. While turning my wand on for my hair I managed to grumble out "come in", still trying to wake myself up.

"Good morning sunshine", my dad came beaming into my room, with a cup of coffee that had steam coming off the top. My dad was a rockstar, every morning before school he always came in clutch with bringing me coffee, knowing that I just wasn't myself without it.

"Dad why are you smiling like that", I chuckled, and started to brush the tangles out of my long dark black hair. Often, I have people who mistake it for blue with the way it looks in the light.

"What do you mean, it's my sweet baby girls first day of senior year", he placed the coffee cup on top of the vanity. "I don't know how this day is already here" he shook his head sighing, "I feel like it was only yesterday you were crying, hiding behind my legs because you didn't want me and your mom to leave you in preschool." When it came to my dad, I was a total underlining daddy's girl, he was wrapped around my finger. Though it was also vice versa, I could never defy him and I always wanted to be his perfect lil angel.

"Daaad, don't get all sentimental on me now. It's the first day and I can't afford to have puffy eyes before", I said smiling while waving my hair.

My dad came up and kissed me on the top of my head "you know you'll always be my lil' girl, Violet. Well, I will let you finish getting ready, I am about to head off to work now. Cal is still not up of course, and the not so munchkin anymore, is eating breakfast downstairs with your mom. I love you, have a good day at school" he said while walking out.

"Love you too dad!" "Okay, there" I placed down the wand and brushed out my hair. "Hair, check" giving myself a mental note. I then grabbed my make up, fortunately I was blessed with not having any teenage acne, so I didn't need to put on too much. Quickly I brushed on some brown eyeshadow with a little bit of gold shimmer in the inner corner to help bring out my green eyes, that also change colors depending on my mood. After, I applied CC cream onto my face, contoured my cheek bones, threw some mascara on and placed a light pink lip gloss over my plumped lips. No longer did I look like a walking zombie. "Make up, check."

My outfit was already hanging on my closet door (I like to be prepared), I picked out a strappy baby blue dress that had little white flowers all over it that tied perfectly with my olive skin tone. It came just above my knees, tight on the top perking my boobs up and a bit flowy on the bottom. After shimmying on the dress, I tied my white Nike Air Force 1's on my feet, clipped back a small portion of my hair with a gold butterfly clip, placed on a pair of tiny gold thick hoops along with a few gold rings, and clasped my favorite necklace around my neck.

There was only one necklace that I ever wore, it was gold, with a small clear crystal pendant, and a Violet flower inside. I've had this necklace since I was a baby. My parents actually adopted my twin brother Caelus and I. Mom works at an adoption center and said that one day she was walking into work, and there we were, in a little basket, both holding on to necklaces. Caelus necklace is a bit different to mine. For one his is on a silver chain and the pendent is made of real silver with a lightning bolt and sword crossing one another, sketched in the middle of it. Hence the names Violet and Caelus. Though we normally just call my brother, Cal for short. The story our parents like to tell is that our mom and dad had been trying for years to have kids but never gave up hope. Then one glorious day we showed up out of the blue, and the moment she laid her eyes on us she knew that we were meant to be a family. She called our dad, whom drove over immediately after hearing the news and said he was drawn into us and felt the exact same energy our mom did. Whatever that means. Our parents like to be dramatic, but I love them.

"C-A-L-E-UUU-S! WAKE UP! WE HAVE TO GO TO SCHOOL!!" I started banging on my brother's door, and in seconds a grumpy looking boy with shaggy black hair wearing no shirt and pajama pants, came out rubbing his eyes.

"Could you not? It's early and I barely got any sleep last night" Cal grouched.

I rolled my eyes at him "well if you weren't out til who knows when with whatever girl this time, you wouldn't be so tired, and we wouldn't be rushing to get to school."

He raised his head, staring back at me with his bright turquoise eyes, and I could see a small smirk appear on his face "Vi, who am I to leave a young lady unfulfilled? That would be wrong."

Cal is what you would call a "player" if you may. Girls swooned over him. He's 6 ft 5, muscular, on varsity football, and doesn't know how to keep it in his pants. Though my one rule is that he can't go after any of my girlfriends, and the same goes for them too. Brother and best friends off limits to each other, and they all respected that. Cal wouldn't want me to do the same to him either, and boy was he overprotective.

"GROSS!" I mimicked projectile vomiting on the floor "seriously Cal enough fooling around and get your ass ready. I don't want to be late; I have to show the new students around the school." He rolled his eyes at me and slammed the door in my face. A few moments later, the door reopened, and he was dressed ready to go, wearing a gray tshirt, a long blue and red flannel, light denim washed jeans with holes, white Yeezy boost 350 V2, and of course his pendant necklace. "Are you going to brush your hair?" I asked with one of my eyebrows arched.

"I don't need to, shaggy rugged hair is in. Trust me I know what the ladies like."

"Whatever you say."

I turned around and we both darted down the stairs where our mom and younger brother Trevor were finishing their breakfast at the table.

"Glad to see someone is ready on time for school" I joked looking over at Trevor.

"It's my first day of high school, I woke up anxious and couldn't go back to sleep" Trevor explained while putting his and mom's plates in the dishwasher.

Trevor is our mom and dad's biological son. A few years later after Cal and I were adopted, mom by some glorious miracle got pregnant with him. Growing up people use to tease the three of us because my brother and I looked nowhere near the same as Trevor. Never once had us not being related by blood been an issue for us, honestly the jokes were funny, because they were true. We were polar opposite to Trevor. Even if he wasn't blood related to Cal and me, we were siblings just the same, and we have the petty arguments to prove it. Trevor has golden eyes, dirty blonde hair, 6 ft 2, toned, not nearly as jacked as Cal but he's still only a freshman. He was wearing a white shirt with RVCA in small letters on the right upper corner, long khakis, black converse, and some black diamond stud earrings. He also had on a gold chain with a gold pendant that had a dragon engraved on it, that Cal and I gave him when he was younger. Trevor was definitely more on the skater side then the jock side. All of us had our own sense of style, and I would have to say we were a good-looking bunch.

"Stick with me kid and you'll be just fine" Caelus took Trevor into a head lock with his arm and gave him a noogie. Trevor tried to escape his grasp but there was no possible way that was going to happen. After Cal let go, Trevor huffed and started putting back the front of his hair the way it was before.

"Oh yeah, just what he needs, I don't possibly see how that could go wrong" I laughed. Cal shot me a glare, and I shrugged.

"My kids are all grown up now, all in high school" our mom started to choke up.

Mom has shoulder length hair that is the same color hair as Trevors, golden eyes and she's extremely gorgeous. I think she still looks young for her age. Also, dad has brown hair with brown eyes. People around town like to call us the brady bunch.

"Mommmm" all us kids said simultaneously

"Ok ok, you grown adults need to get to school now, drive safe, love you" mom said while she walked us to the front door.

We all gave her a hug and kissed her on the cheek and ran out the house to the black four door Jeep Wrangler. Cal and I shared a car for the time being until we were off to college because there was really no point in each having our own. We were in the same friend group, went to the same school, we both did after school sports/extracurriculars and if the time came up that we both needed the car but were doing different things, we could easily find someone to pick us up and give us a ride.

I ran to the passenger side, Cal to the drivers', and Trevor in the back. "Don't forget were giving Izzy a ride to school" I said turning up the radio.

"Why can't she get another ride?" Cal whined

"Oh hush, stop acting like this hasn't been a tradition since we were kids."

Isabella and I have been best friends since the first day of preschool. Right after my parents left me in class, I was a crying mess. Straight away the sweetest girl with long strawberry blonde curly hair with a pink ribbon in it, came up to me and offered me one of her animal crackers, who happened to also be Isabella and from then on out we were inseparable. Every year after that Izzy and I go to our first day of school together, kind of like a 'I have her back and she has mine' in case anything went wrong, morale support.

"Whatever" Cal grumbled under his breath.

We pulled up to Izzy's house, honked, and she came running out yelling back to her parents saying her goodbyes. She was wearing a tight cheetah halter onesie, high waisted tight black jeans that flared at the bottom, white chunky sneakers, and her signature half up and down hair do.

"Wow Iz you look great! Those jeans make your butt look bigger than usual and I didn't even think that was possible" I beamed towards my best friend while she jumped in the back of the jeep.

"I could say the same to you, I'm so happy you went with the dress. Your boobs look lush!"

"Alright that's enough, I don't need to hear anyone talking about my sister's body" Cal said turning up the music even louder trying to drown us out

"Hey there kiddo, you excited for your first day of high school?" Izzy nudged Trevor

"Of course, what is there not to be excited about? I'm going to be to be in a school with tons of hot upper-class girls" Trevor smirked, causing Cal to extend his arm back for a high five while still paying attention the road. Izzy and I just rolled our eyes and chatted about our weekend until we got to the school.
