Chapter 4 - Introductions

VIOLET-

The bell rang signaling that it was time for lunch, and everyone swarmed out of the classrooms. Entering the cafeteria, I see Isabella leaving the lunch line with her tray of food, and wave at her. We meet up and walk out to the courtyard together to our honorary lunch table. Caelus, Trevor, a bunch of guys from the football team, and some of our other girl friends were already sitting down at it. I guess you could say we were popular, but I didn't let it get to my head the way it did other people in our group. Making friends just came naturally to me, I don't care if you are rich, poor, jock, nerd, if they're a genuinely good person on the inside then I went out of my way to befriend them.

Isabella took a seat next to Trevor and I sat down across from them, Cal on my right side and my friend Lacey on the left. We were all discussing about how our first day was going, what teachers we had, the boys were talking about some new young hot Algebra teacher, us girls as always were rolling our eyes. The girls all stopped talking, and the courtyard went quiet, noticing that everyone was staring at something, I moved my eyes to the direction they were looking and realized that everyone was eyeballing Riley, Max, and Kyle. Every single girl in here was practically drooling on sight of them, and I could tell the guy's egos were bruised by it.

Riley had seemed to have seen me already because he was looking dead at me, I couldn't tell what kind of emotion was on his face, his eyes always felt like they were looking through my soul. I decided to wave and smile at the three of them, and they returned it back and started their way towards us.

Lacey grabbed my arm, and her eyes were wide "Violet, who the HELLLL are those yummy boys you are waving at?" Lacey and I have known each other since the day her family moved in down the street in the summer of 7th grade.

"They're new students I met when I was giving the school tour this morning"

"I knew I would get some perks of having a best friend who gets first looksies on the new boys of school. Lucky too because it seems like all the girls are waiting for their chance to pounce on them." Lacey shakes her head

Izzy turns around to get a peak of who were talking about, her eyes widen, and she quickly turns her head around and faces down. Was she thinking the same as all the other girls or did her facial expression happen because of something else? She was acting strange.

The three guys reached our table, and I could see every other girl pouting because they didn't choose to go up to them. I couldn't blame them; these guys were on another level of smoke show.

"Hey there Violet! Thanks again for showing us around this morning" Kyle says

"But of course! Do y'all want to sit with us?"

"Say less" Max swung his leg over the seat sitting on the other side of Trevor. Doing the same as Max, Kyle scooched in on the other side of Lacey.

I remembered that Kyle told me that him and Riley are brothers, but they looked nothing alike. Kyle had black hair and deep crimson eyes, while Riley had white hair and gray eyes. Kyle looked to be half an inch shorter then him, both in great shape, Riley was a tad bit more muscular then Kyle, which was to be understandable since he is the oldest. I glanced over at Max and saw that he had ashy brown hair that was shoulder length and a 5'oclock shadow, his shoulders were broad, and this guy was jacked. Can he really only be 18?! I don't know who would win in an arm wrestling contest between him and Cal. All three guys had the sharp jawline, bronzed tans, and Kyle was the only one without tribal tattoos going down his arms, I'm assuming cause he wasn't 18 yet.

Riley was standing behind me and I could tell that he was trying to sit in between Caelus and I, Cal is not going to enjoy this guy's boundary problem. "Hey man, I'm Caelus" his eyes narrowed in on Riley, with one of his hands in front of him gesturing for Riley to shake it.

Riley looked at Cal, and moved his eyes back on me, I could tell he was trying to analyze the relationship between me and him.

"Oh, quit trying to act like a hard ass." I rolled my eyes, "this is my twin brother, don't let his looks fool you, he isn't as tough as he seems."

There was a twinkle in Riley's eyes, and his whole gloomy demeanor changed in the matter of seconds. "Twin brother? Great! I mean, uh- I'm Riley" he takes Cal's hand to shake and sits beside him. Kyle and Max were snickering from the encounter as if there was some inside joke going on between them.

"I'm Lacey" she said flipping her firey-red hair in a flirtatious manner

"Trevor, Violet and Cal's younger brother" he nods

"Max"

"Kyle, I'm this guy's bro" he points at Riley

"I would never have guessed you two would be brothers, you look almost nothing alike." Says Lacey, taking the words right out of my mouth

"Mother looks like me, and father looks like Riley" replies Kyle. I was intrigued to see what their father looked like, if him and Riley resemble one another. So, was the white hair his real color then?

Isabella was still sitting there completely quiet, with her head down, eating her food. She had yet to say one word since the boys came over to sit with us. This was completely out of character for her, she was as much of a flirt as the rest of us, and she always has something to say. If Isabella were trapped in a room by herself, she would make conversation with the wall if she had no other way.

"Isabella?" Max asks. We all jerked our heads looking at Isabella. Izzy's eyes finally lift up from her lunch, and her expression made it seem as if she was caught red handed. Was she hiding something? I shook the thought out of my head instantly because we told each other everything, we have known each other for too long for there to even be any secrets, we know everything about one another.

"Wait y'all know each other?" I ask making the same puzzled face everyone had

"Hi. Yes, we're I guess-neighbors?" She answered in a question rather than a statement

"Neighbors? On the reserve?"

"That's the one" Kyle replied back to me

"How come you are just now enrolling in school if you're neighbors?" Trevor asked

Riley chimed in "Because we have a homeschooling system at the reserve for all grades. Not everyone has to attend there, hence why Isabella goes here. But father wanted us to experience real public school, so here we are." We all nodded our heads forming 'O' shapes with our mouths.

"You guys play any sports?" Of course, that's what Cal's first asks them about

"Riley here and I play football with some of the guys at the reserve, but we don't have any legitimate teams over there." Max replied taking a bite of his food

"Well you guys should definitely try out for the team then! With the way you three are built, y'all would be a shoo-in." Lacey praised

"I don't really play any sports, not my kind of thing. I do love to skate though" Luke says

"Really? You guys have any cool skate parks at the reserve?" Trevor arched his eyebrow

"Nah man, definitely nothing like that over there. The adults are extremely old fashioned, so I have to build my own ramps and such."

"Wow that's lame, we have some sick parks on this side of town. You should come with sometime." Trevor gives Luke one of those guy nods

"Well try outs are today after school, better bring your A-game cause we won't go easy on you, especially from outsiders" Cal said directing towards Riley and Max.

Riley scoffed, "wouldn't dream of it"

Wow. They got awfully chummy, awfully fast. I've never witnessed Cal accept anyone that quickly. Trevor and I are similar when it comes to befriending most anyone, but with Cal, it was a whole other story. It wasn't that Cal was mean to people for no reason, he is just extremely particular with whom he lets around his friends and family, always overly protective
