The night was silent, without a single creature in the sky. Even the streets of the village were very quiet, with almost no people in them. Dave graciously had allowed, both Kevin and Lilith to sleep in his mansion for a night. Upon realizing how comfortable their night would be, Lilith did not hesitate before sleeping till the next day. However, both Kevin and Kirby, who slept together, could not get a wink of sleep after a few hours into their slumber. Not because they were afraid of a certain stranger waking up and attacking after they treated him, but because of noises being heard downstairs.
'He must be awake!' Kevin thought. Seeing as the sound of doors opening was never heard meant that Lilith and Dave must still be fast asleep.
Leaving him with the duty of explaining what happened to the man and where he is.
'But I feel so lazy!' Kevin inwardly complained.
He then turned his head to Kirby before whispering, " Why don't you go and explain?".
In response, the three-tailed fox hopped on his head, causing him to cover his head with his hand.
" Alright, alright! I'll do it!" he whispered as he got off the bed.
Kevin slowly opened his door to not disturb anyone. Then tiptoed toward the stairs because they left the injured man downstairs. Now thinking about it, Kevin thought it may have been better for someone to watch him in case he tried something. But, they were all exhausted from that.
" Aaaaaaa!" Kevin screamed as he looked sideways at a painting of a woman. He had already seen the picture when Dave showed him his room, but due to being in the dark, he mistook it for a person.
Heading downstairs, he noticed the noises coming from the kitchen.
'He must be in there!' Kevin thought.
He had no plans of scaring the fellow, so he peeked into the kitchen. However, he soon regretted his actions due to the disgusting sight he saw.
" What are you doing Lilith?" Kevin asked In a disappointed tone.
While in underwear and bra, Lilith was scouring Dave's fridge. She had already picked a few items, but it seemed like it wasn't enough for her. In her right hand, she carried a bag of bread, and in her left a bowl of soup while chewing on a piece of meat.
"Shut up... Kevin! Unwike you, I havwent eat...en." She mumbled with food in her mouth while a tear trickled down her face.
She then immediately ran off, while of course, still holding onto the food.
" You do n..ot, unde....rstan..d mwe!" Lilith yelled as she ran toward the stairs. Probably heading toward her room, to continue her meal.
'If Lilith was in the kitchen, he must still be sleeping in the living room.' Kevin concluded it as a false alarm as he headed back to bed.
'But.... what if he is still awake but is too confused to move?' He inwardly asked himself. With this thought in mind, he turned back toward the living room.
The place was a bit too dark, so he flipped the switch, turning on the lights in the living room. He expected to see a man fast asleep on the couch, but instead, he was nowhere to be seen.
"Where is he?" he asked himself, looking both ways.
To his surprise, an arm came from behind, holding him in a choking position while the other hand was pointed to his head. He could not see it quite well, but it looked like a long nail pointed to his head.
" What am I? Are you here for the reward?" Did he ask?
' Why me? Could he not have done this to Lilith? Even after I carried his heavy butt?' Kevin inwardly complained.
Slowly, lightning began cackling around Kevin, shocking the man in the process. He quickly let go of Kevin, to prevent further damage.
' Lightning magic? And an annoying one at that!' the man thought while his arms slowly hardened and changed color to purple. He then threw out a quick jab.
" Is that a deviant element?" Kevin said his thoughts aloud while crossing his arm to block the attack.
"Argh!" Kevin moaned in pain as the attack sent him flying to a wall. Upon impact, the whole mansion shook for a few seconds.
'Even though I blocked, I feel like my arms are numb!'.
[ Lightning magic: Tiger mode]
As usual, two cat-like ears composed of lightning hovered above his head while he stood on all four limbs. However, Kevin, this time formed a lightning tail as well as the usual claws.
Kevin wanted to reduce the damage caused in the house, therefore, he had to attack first. The injured man probably did not have much mana, considering the fact he was unconscious on the ground a while ago. He was most likely in a fight that already drained most of his power but the fact he was still this strong, surprised Kevin.
Materializing a single lightning tiger, Kevin ran in as well, throwing a fast punch. The man countered it and threw a punch of his. Before the attack, reached him Kevin's lightning tiger ran into Kevin from the side pushing him away from the attack.
' He instead of his materialization attacking, it rather supported?'
Now that he was out of the way, he threw another kick toward the man. The injured figure was still in the motion of attacking, it would have been impossible to dodge.
"Slow!" he muttered before veins popped around his eyes, while his pupil gave turned purple.
Almost moving in a blur, he quickly retracted his arm and grabbed Kevin, smashing him into the table. Then, he pinned him down.
' So fast!'
" Now tell me! Are you with them?" He asked.
"With who? I'm with no one! Is this the thanks I get for helping your dying butt!" Kevin said as he stretched his hand to the man's face.
His tattoo lit up and began to drain his remaining energy. With the extra boost, Kevin kicked the man's abdomen, pushing him away.
Kevin's attack hit the man's previous wounds causing him to groan in pain. While he stood up, ready to fight once more.
"Wait, are you not working for anyone?" He asked while raising his hand to signal a stop to the fight.
"No, I'm not, I am just a bounty hunter looking for Larry Tein."
Hearing the name, he rubbed his hand against his face, noticing the was still a bandage on it, hiding his identity.
" Then I apologize, my name is Max."
"Mine is Kevin! I would say it is nice to meet you, but it was not"
The man felt sorry for attacking the ones who helped. Therefore, he tried to search his pockets for money, only to fine dust particles.
" I do not have money to compensate, but I know."
"What kind?"
" You use lightning affinity, right? Then I can teach you electromagnetism! Do you already know?"
"Electromagnetism!" Kevin said with his eyes wide open.
" Indeed!"
" What is it?" Kevin asked.
Heaving a sigh, he quickly explained that it can only be performed by the lightning affinity. By discharging rapid amounts of electric current through metal, a magnetic field will be created. However, when applying electricity through a metal, depending on the size, you must either lower or decrease the electrical flow. Objects such as a metallic tower would need a godly amount of electric current while smaller objects need less.
Upon hearing the explanation, Kevin was intrigued and wanted to try it out. Kevin tried it out on a metallic shard that fell while Max began to clean the mess he created
On his first attempt, he successfully managed to send a current through the metallic shard and proceeded to lift his arm into the air, expecting the shard to follow along but it did not.
" Ha, I guess you could not get it in one try. That's normal, no one is that fast in learning. You suppose to keep a constant flow of electric power, do not let it go." Max advised.
Once again, Kevin tried. Repeating the same process, he was able to lift the shard into the air, shocking Max.
'On his second try, he is a fast learner. It would be funny to think that he could be a Tsujigen user!' Max laughed.
Lightning was connected to both his fingertips and the shard. He tried moving his arm around left, right, up, and down. As he expected, it followed along in the direction.
"Wow! This is amazing! I should try this on something bigger after sleeping." he said...
It was then Max's stomach began to grumble, indicating his hunger.
" If your hungry, I cou-"
Boom! A loud explosion noise was heard outside, shaking the mansion. It was too close, for comfort. Kevin ran to the door to check what happened, but a muscular man rammed through the door pulling Kevin along. He rammed Kevin through many walls in the mansion.
' Kevin!' Max was worried. But he highly doubted there was only one of them.
Looking outside, he saw the burning cars and destroyed gates. It was then many figures began to enter the compound, one after the other.
" The damn mafia's lackeys!"
'Kevin will have to hold his own! I'll take care of these guys!' Max said walking off to approach them!
