Chapter 50 - The masked swordsman

"Black and white? What exactly do you sense?" Marcus said in confusion, looking at Ray and then back at Kevin and Lilith.

Mando.A power of which Lilith and Kevin know nothing. Ray was able to use this power in place of sight to sense or see one's aura. One's aura is usually a mix of red representing heat energy, a small portion of yellow showing energy, and other colors for magic properties. Yet, Kevin was completely black and white which made no sense to him.

"Kevin, this isn't a fight you can win. Just go ba-"

"Shut up. Do you know how many things I can buy with your bounty? I could practically be my lord, haha!" Lilith laughed, already pre-money drunk.

"Um, yeah. Besides, who are these men?" Kevin asked. They had managed to find him but asked the residents who saw a werewolf running through the town.

Kevin's question went unanswered. When looking at Larry to ask once more, he could see Larry fell unconscious. It could have been from the blood loss or excess use of energy, but he was not dead yet.

"Marcus! I will be handling the boy. Deal with the girl," Ray gently said, walking up to Kevin. Even though he was cautious as to what Kevin could do, he knew the best way of finding out what was special about him was to fight him.

"So, you are the girl I took the bread from?" Marcus asked.

" Yeah, that's me. And because of you, I nearly starved! Consider this payback!" Lilith smirked materializing wind daggers.

"I won fair and square," Marcus said nonchalantly as he shot ten arrows in random directions.

"Where are you firing?" Lilith mocked as she ran to him.

[Deviant element: controlled winds]

As Lilith moved in, she felt the presence of a projectile approaching her. Therefore, she wrapped her element around her leg, enabling swift movement. She dodged to the right, completely avoiding the arrow.

'What? How did it nearly hit?' She questioned.

The arrows could have curved but from how he shot that, it would be impossible without.... magic! Looking back, she saw every missed arrow be fired heading for her.

She used her agility to her advantage to dodge most of them and even shot some down. However, Marcus kept firing more whenever Lilith took one down.

Lilith then concluded that he could only control ten at a time. As she dodged, she slowly made her way to Marcus. The only way to beat the casting was to beat the caster.

When she was close enough, she shot a wind arrow at him but he simply dodged with ease, pissing off Lilith in the process.

"So are you gonna fight or what?" Lilith angrily questioned.

"What do you think we are doing so far? Dancing? If so, my salsa skills are on par with a legend!" Marcus mockingly said while showing off a few of his dancing skills.

Lilith found the scene quite awkward and when she was distracted, an arrow pierced through her leg.

'Damn it! I was captivated by his dance skills!' Lilith inwardly cursed. With her pinned down, all the arrows came at once to her position.

[Deviant element: Spiral winds]

Hitting the ground with all she had, a huge amount of snow lifted into the air. Not only blocking Marcus' vision but also taking down the remaining arrows with the air force.

Coming out of the snow, Lilith ran out as fast as she could. She once again used her deviant element around her leg to kick off the ground. The sudden burst in power helped her to arrive in front of Marcus within a second and produced a loud thud as a by-product.

She acknowledged Marcus as a tough opponent, even stronger than Lilith. Therefore, she did not hesitate to use her deviant element a hundred times if need be.

Just before their fists clashed, Marcus coated his arm in green power, or what he calls Mando. Seeing this, Lilith used her deviant element once more around her fist to match his strength.

A loud sound was produced, as only Marcus was pushed back by the wind. However, Lilith did not come unscathed, her fist was broken by Marcus' Mando-covered fist. But that was not enough to stop her, in the absence of one fist she used the other and her feet until it regenerated. She re-activated her deviant element in almost every attack, to match his power. Every time she attacked, she generated a force that caused snow to scatter around.

"Oh my, you know I'm not going to kill you, right? So why fight this hard, you are acting like I'm going to feed your family a bad piece of chocolate." Marcus asked as he continued to fend off her attacks.

The reason she was fighting so hard was indeed a question she needed to rethink. Because she only had one motive.

'When I beat him and give up Larry, I'll be.... I'll be a millionaire! I'll be so rich, that I will pay people to think about my future!' Lilith firmed her resolved.

Marcus threw out a punch at Lilith who used her leg to push the attack away, allowing her to make another grand attack.

[Deviant element: Spiral winds]

"I'll keep fighting till I have no mana!" Lilith shouted as she kicked Marcus' abdomen with her foot which managed to hurt him due to her deviant element.

Luckily for her, the only place covered in Mando was his arms, unlike Larry who did it to his whole body.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The masked man stood in a fighting stance, prepared to begin the fight. While Kevin did the same, he knew no stance so he just gripped Asura tightly.

During their arrival here, Kevin's lightning reverted to its blue color. He would have loved to switch it back for this fight but he, unfortunately, was not acquainted with how it worked.

Kevin sent out two lightning tigers and ran in behind them. The enemy he was fighting was strong enough to put Larry in his state, so he brought everything out from the start.

With a single slash of his sword, the two tigers were taken down which greatly surprised the teenager. They were not even allowed to attack at all. He raised his Asura to perform an attack, but almost as Ray teleported, he appeared before Kevin holding onto his neck.

"That's odd! Your aura says you are special but you are weak. Maybe you are just an Abo. My condolences, for insulting you as such," Ray kindly said letting go of Kevin's neck. He rubbed his neck while in a state of confusion.

"Let's resume the battle!" he said using one hand to slash and the other behind his back.

Kevin was mostly on the defensive, using his sword to block, and was sometimes unsuccessful resulting in him receiving a cut. He was certain Ray was holding back, but he could not even attack with this.

Whenever he attempted to attack, Ray would quickly block it before it even happened. Almost as if he is reading Kevin's every move. The teenager was no master in using swords, but this was simply ridiculous.

The masked man held onto Kevin's arm, slamming him to the ground. He was kind enough to allow Kevin to get up before attacking once more.

"Enough of this!" Kevin yelled. He felt like he was training instead of having a real fight which slightly annoyed him. An emotion that mostly appears when around Lilith.

[Lightning magic: twin dragon]

Jumping into the air, he launched not one but both lightning dragons which formed around his leg. Seeing this, he did not move because he knew they would not hit him. Instead, it rammed into the snow, creating a cloud of snow.

'Futile, I can still see you!' the man thought, not losing track of Kevin.

Kevin ran in, swinging his Asura at the masked man. Naturally, Ray held his sword to block it.

[Asura: Warhammer mode]

Just before, Asura hit, the katana transformed slowly into a war hammer, Asura's fourth and final form. This tactic caught Ray off guard and sent him flying upwards into the sky.

The Warhammer was heavy, but thanks to Kevin's strength he could manage.

'A cursed weapon, huh?' Ray thought as his body flew into the air, slowly beginning to descend.

"One more time!"

[Lightning magic: Twin dragons]

Materializing his strongest attack, lightning formed around his feet. Noticing this, Ray decided to end this in one final move.

Using all his strength and possibly Mando, he whipped his hand into the air which broke his arm as well as created a shockwave in the air. The shockwave was meant to pull him down to the ground faster, which surprised Kevin.

The masked man had come down faster than Kevin could from his attack. He landed directly on Kevin, using his other arm to punch the teenage boy with everything he had.

Kevin swore he heard something in his body crack before he collapsed to the ground.

"As expected you expected, you won!" Marcus said while walking over.

"You thought I would lose? What happened to the girl?"

" I won as well, she was quite surprised, even managed to hit me once. However, I did notice something," Marcus said raising Kirby who had come along with Kevin and Lilith

"Isn't that the type of creature, the young master is looking for?" Ray asked in surprise.

"Yeah it is, imagine how happy he will be when we give it to him! Let's just finish off Tein and leave,"

"My cut was accurate, he is going to be dead. Let's be on our way!"

Marcus nodded, be searched through his pocket. Eventually pulling out a dimensional traveler, which he used to open up a portal.

He first walked through, leaving the masked man to come last. However, before Ray left. A hand held the end of his pants.

"Give Kirby back!" Kevin mumbled.

"Get stronger and come to dimension fourteen for the dimensional tournament. There you will find him," He said before knocking out Kevin with a chop to the neck.

"If miracles do exist, maybe one of the participants can stop him," Ray said before heading into the portal.
