Chapter 2 - Collapse of The World

Screams erupt from almost every corner of the world. It was under attack. Who? Where? Why was there no warning? All of these could be easily explained by looking across the street. A monster, head shaped like a hammer, glowing with red writing on it's body roared, snatched up screaming pedestrian like light snacks. Behind them is a glowing purple portal, shimmering and moving as if it wasn't a thing of this world. More beings poured out of the portal in waves.

I stare in horror at the scene through a window, up high in my apartment. Blood seems to paint the entire sidewalk red. Why the hell was this happening?

*snap* Something's behind me.

I flinched and turned my head around. Nothing

Distant screams haunt my ears, prickling all my nerves. My heart beat like drummers at a parade. It's almost as if I could feel everything in my body. My slight tremble. Sweat slowly trickling down my back. Arm hairs standing up straight. Adrenaline pumping through my blood. I took notice of all of this, but what use is that? How would fight or flight help now? Against those monsters…. Why would any of this matter?

Questions pummeling my brain as I scan every corner of my room.

*BAMBAMBAM*

I froze in place. There's nothing I can do. I began relaxing my muscles. Whatever happens now is out of my control. I would be safer if I just-

WOOF! WOOF WOOF!

No.nonononono.

I spring across my room in one gallop, then turned to the source of the sound. My German Shepherd, Park, growled at the pounding of the door. Someone was trying to break into my apartment.

"Help! Help me!"

I relaxed. It was just a person. I was about to call back when, "Help! Help me!". The man yelled again. The incessant pounding on my door resumed. Something isn't right here. His voice rang out yet again. "Help! Help me!".

All the noise suddenly stops. The hell was happening here? I looked through the peephole. It was a old middle aged man. He stands unmoving, body limp. His mouth jerked open, his arm came up beside him. "Help! Help me!" He continues pounding. Then, he suddenly dropped to the floor. A bee, the size of a large baby, flew where the man once was. The stinger, red with blood. I spot a small hole on the man's back.

The bee winds back, as I jerk back from the door. A crunch rang out, as it's stinger tear a hole into my wooden door. Park barked in warning, but the bee couldn't care less. It pulled back, breaking open the door with ease. With the door gone, I start hearing a whirring sound from the bee. A large piece of wood was stuck to it's stinger, as the bee swerved around in confusion, attempting to get it off. Without missing a beat, Park tackled the bee to the ground, snapping at it's eyes. It pushed back furiously, throwing Park to the side.

It readied it's stinger and charged, until I grabbed the bee to my chest and tried to punch it. It struggled in my hands, and I knew it was much stronger than I was. I hugged on to it as hard as I could, with it dragging me across the floor. My hands slip and I desperately try to grab on to the bee. I heard a sickening crunch as I fell to the ground.

Did I break my arm? I glanced at the bee. I tore off one of it's wings. It struggles on the floor, trying it's best to move. The wood stuck in it's stingers is also blocking it's legs. As it struggled on the floor, Park wasn't going to miss this chance. With a bite to it's head, the bee stopped moving. I breathe a sign of relief, then winced as my adrenaline wore off. I looked down on my arms, finding that the bee's moving body gave me multiple lashes.

*VMMMMMMMMM*

Like part of a large machine, the new whirring sound was deafening. I peeked out the hallway. Dead bodies litter the ground. There was little to no blood, however the scariest sight wasn't the bodies. I could see dozens of bees coming towards us. I grabbed Park and ran into the bathroom. It was the only only place in the house with a metal door. I hated the out of place look before, but now, it's a life saver.

I locked the door and prayed.

*BAM BAM*

I sat at in the bathtub, certain they couldn't get in. But with them outside, there's no way I could get out.

Park whined, and I gave him a weak smile. Is this it?
