" Hello Mother and Father," I said as I started down at the dinner table.
Even though it feels pretty weird calling them by those names I won't deny myself the opportunity to have parents. The table was long as if it was made for a banquet and food was piled on top of it too much for the three of us. I felt that me and my parents had begun to bond more but in reality it was just normal conversation.
"My son, me and your mother will be gone for a couple of days as the King has called a meeting. Before we should leave, I hope you can pick out a slave to make your personal maid. Since you are ready we'll head to the National Auction house to see if their are any slaves for sale."
"Ok father"
I didn't think slaves would be a thing still but since the world is now dog eat dog it makes sense.
"Father can you tell me about slaves because I didn't read anything about it yesterday."
"Haha. Of course you didn't. Slavery was once a thing a long time ago but it was abolished. However on the day of the Awakening, Energy wasn't the only thing that was introduced, people from another world that call themselves Demi-Humans appeared. Once they appeared many conflicts happened but eventually they were enslaved and the institution of slavery was implemented again."
"But father, this seems like such a big event why isn't it documented."
"Simple son the reason is that slavery is a morally wrong thing and that means many will try to fight to rectify it. However the majority of the population will choose to ignore it and treat it as normal. This is why no one wants to mention it. Humans are at their core selfish."
"Robert, that's enough. He's only 5 and we can tell him more about the world when he grows up. Just take him to the capital and hurry back so we won't be late."
My mom spoke up as she saw my father getting more and more riled up as he talked. My father seems to be a person with strong morals and I'm glad that is so, I mean I would hate to have a father like myself.
"Ok son, are you ready?"
My father said as he pulled some type of device out of thin air.
"Yes, but what is that?"
"I will explain when we're at the capital."
He put his hand on my shoulder and I began to fell my surrounding distort. The reality began to tear in front of me but before I could be sucked into the endless abyss I appeared in a random room with my father right beside me. My legs trembled and I puked up all of my breakfast.
"For f**k sake I forgot about his space affinity."
This was the last thing I heard before I passed out. I was wrong about this old man. He truly is an old annoying geezer.
'My eyes hurt'
I woke up rubbing my eyes as they ached with pain. I regained my vision and began to look around to notice another unfamiliar setting. I was within a small room overlooking a large auditorium. The auditorium was filled with people and other rooms overlooked the people.
"Just in time I was just about to use an elixir to wake you up."
"Yeah ok, old man"
Hearing his new name my father frowned and was about to open his mouth before an announcement interrupted him.
"The Grand Auction is starting"
The announcement was followed by a beautiful lady with long red hair coming up on stage.
"Ladies and Gentlemen thank you for coming to the 7th Annual Grand Auction. We have quite the selection for you folks today so be prepared and ready as this may be the only time you will see some of these items. Without further ado let's start the auction."
2 hours past and the auction was finally getting to slaves. The past two hours have been nothing but boredom that's to be expected though as many items were made to be bought by rich commoners. Some items intrigued my interest but when I looked at my father I knew the item was nothing but trash.
The slaves began to be introduced one at a time at first. My father began to look at me each time a slave was introduced to see if I wanted to buy one but I each time I didn't say anything. I was starting to get pretty disgusted about the whole slave thing now. Slaves are divided into three categories combat, sex, and common.
I was disgusted by that fact such beautiful sex slaves were being bought by such ugly looking people. I was disgusted by the fact that the slave seemed to accept being sold like they didn't care about their own life. It sickened me, I mean how could someone give up on their life like that. I've been through hell but I'm still fighting.
My father could see some anger on my face so he decided to speak.
"Son, I know it may be difficult but we must accept it. I dislike that fact as much as you do. In fact I wish I could kill all of these weak nasty people but society restrains me. All we can do is remember this hatred, we have to bottle it up. One day you will be able to use it and when that day comes the victim will wish he had never been born. "
"Yes father"
I responded with a monotone voice as I understood what he said but I hated that fact that I had to accept it.
'The strong make the rules, the weak have no right to question the strong.'
"Thank you for coming to the 7th annual Grand Auction if you'd like to stick around, we will be showing lines of lower ranked slaves in just a moment."
"Son, are you ready to go?"
"What do you mean father?"
"Well you didn't pick out a slave. It's not a big deal we can always choose one another day."
"But father they still have more slaves to show"
"Yes but they're all low ranked, not worthy of serving as an heir to a Dukedom. You must realize son that your status is special and when you grow up many will want to discredit and manipulate you. A strong man must have strong people around him."
"I understand father but please I just want to see for a moment."
My father looked at me with an indiscernible look then he peaked at his watch.
"Ok just for a few minutes then we must leave."
I sat back down in my seat and began to watch as lines of slaves were displayed. They looked broken, unable to be of any use. No fighting spirit was left within their fragmented eyes. I did feel sorry as those eyes reminded me of mine. I watched the women slaves being bought by commoners as most of the men remained unsold. I hadn't really felt a connection with any of the slaves so I began to sit up from my seat but then something happened.
