Mercury finished the writing and set off into the night. Avoiding the bright street lights like the plague Mercury stayed concealed in shadows, reaching a large building with top notch security he slipped in with ease going all the way to the Director's office were he laid stacks upon stacks of evidence and on top he sat the letter. Getting out of the building was just as easy as getting in so after getting that out of the way Mercury got a taxi and told the driver his next destination and final battleground. He was going to the home of the assassin, Eden.
Eden, the home of assassins, had the look of a hotel but that was just a cover in reality underneath the hotel was where Eden was truly located and as Mercury walked in many glanced in fear and respect for others with envy in their eyes.
" I would like to request help on a mission where I need top tier personnel only."
The receptionist was shocked as she thought Mercury was going to attempt one of the impossible jobs so she hurried to call the rooms of all of the high and mid class assassins in the building. The people in the lobby didn't wait either as they all immediately headed towards the ginormous recruitment room. Hours ticked by as the room was crowded with people, thousands stood on the 1st floor as Mercury and Eden leaders sat on the balcony overlooking them.
" So Mercury, why does a god of speed need to recruit such lower level individuals."
One of the leaders spoke with a clear dislike in his voice.
" Now Winston there is no need for hostility. In truth we are very glad that the almighty Mercury has called upon us and our services."
Another leader said with sarcasm.
" I'm so bored, let's get this over with already."
The leaders were shocked at his reply and had no time to think as Mercury pulled out a red button and pressed it.
Hundreds of explosions went off on the floor below; meanwhile on the balcony Mercury kicked the railing sliding his chair backwards pulling out two pistols which he immediately shot into the two closest leaders.
"Two to go."
Mercury spoke as he was rushed by the two other leaders. Bullets went through chairs as he used them as cover. The two leaders didn't back down as instead of guns they went into close combat. As the guns would only slow him down he dropped them as two fists closed in on his face. Dodge Mercury quickly pulled out a blade but one leader was prepared as he quickly grabbed the blade as the other kicked the fighting hands sending the blade into Mercury's stomach.
A grin appeared on his face as another blade went through the neck of the leader.
"WTF how"
The remaining leader screamed as the blade seemed to appear out of thin air.
" Misdirection, this is basic stuff, leader you should already know this."
Mercury remarked as the fighting continued.
Outside of the Eden hotel everything seemed peaceful even with the occasional rumble from below which was assumed to be a plumbing issue. All was normal until a bloody man came out from the basement doors, many recoiled while others stood frozen. The man however didn't speak a word as he left the building despite the protest of the people inside. The man stumbled down the road as trails of blood followed him. The lights of the street revealed the figure. It was Mercury, the most feared assassin alive.
Falling into a dumpster in some random alley, Mercury looked towards the stars.
" What a fitting end for someone like me. Pretty ironic that I killed people I considered trash and I ended up dying in a dumpster. I sometimes wonder if a divine being truly does have a sense of humor but why think about that now. All I can hope for is that my next life isn't as bad as this one. I mean, was I an emperor in my past life and that's where all my luck went because clearly it wasn't present in this one....."
As Mercury rambled on he slowly began to lose track of his words and his eyes began to close finally he took one last breath before becoming nothing but an empty shell.
