Chapter 19 - Chapter 19

"Ms. Hester. May I ask you to spare a moment?" Gob asked while entering Grace's room. Grace only glanced and nodded a little. That response made Gob enter the room hesitantly.

Then Gob handed over a tablet to Grace. Grace looked back and seemed confused as to why he would give her a tablet. But the moment the screen was lit up, she saw Korvin on that tablet screen. Yes, Korvin, her brother.

Grace looked at Gob in disbelief. Gob responded by smiling sweetly as if he knew what Grace was about to say.

"Yes, Ms. Hester. Sometimes ago, one of Young Master Kyle's subordinate went out to see Mr. Hester because he needed to sent your salary and a little gift to Mr. Hester. Of course, he was so happy to receive them. I also heard that Mr. Hester is going to buy you a new house. Play this video, Ms. Hester. I will take my leave now, I hope that video will relieve you of your longing for Mr. Hester. He misses you too, you know."

Gob exited Grace's room right away but not really leaving it, he peeked Grace that seemed so enthusiastic to play that video. He could see how it invigorated her life again. It was a moment that Gob had waited for; to see her happy again and to work alongside her again. That was the best that Gob could do, this was the only way he could help both Grace and his master. He could never bring Grace's brother here, not in a million years.

"Grace, how are you?" Korvin said through the video. Grace could not hold her tears back. She touched Korvin's face on the screen. He looked almost malnourished, disheveled, and unkempt. Grace cried; she could see through his lies. She knew that he's just pretending to be happy. His words did not really match the looks in his eyes. Grace felt really hurt to see how Korvin has been doing lately. She would go through hell just to take good care of the most important person in her life, that is Korvin.

"Korvy, I knew you were actually in trouble during the making of this video. Is that what bothers you, Korvy? Can you tell me about it? Why are you acting tough and independent like this? Who taught you to act stupid like this?" Grace mumbled. She smiled after seeing her brother's face again. "Do you think I will be happy here? Are you trying to keep me content by not seeing you cry? You really are a foolish brother! You will always be my foolish little brother, Korvy. You know, the more I see this video, the more I miss you. I want to hug you so bad. I want to unite our family again. Even though we had to pay rent every month, even though I had to beg Leon for a cup of milk and a few pieces of bread when you are out of work, trust me when I say that it is a much better life than what I have here. It turned out that what you have said is true, Korvy. Living in a lavish residence does not guarantee happiness, I am still missing you. I wish you were here for me. I prefer a modest life with you in it, Korvy."

Grace drew a deep breath. Gob felt slightly melancholic too. Suddenly he was surprised to see an unforeseen presence next to him.

He did not take long to recognize that it was Nicholas Kyle that appeared without notice next to him. He immediately stepped back and bowed deeply. Nicholas took a peek as well into Grace's room. He gnashed his jaw when he saw that Grace cried for her brother. He did not expect Grace to miss her brother that deeply.

"Master Kyle, shouldn't we gave Ms. Hester a few weeks off? I think she really need Mr. Hester's presence right now, master."

"I dare not to take a risk, she might use that chance to escape from me for good." Nicholas looked at Gob for a moment before vanishing as he walked downstairs.

Meanwhile, Marvin and Sean could only stare at each other. Sean told Marvin what was going on during his meeting with Grace's brother. Even a cold-hearted person like Sean was touched by the sibling's longing for each other. Sean believed that Nicholas would feel the same had he met Korvin in person.

"The thing is, we must arrange a meeting between Nic and Korvin. I am certain that he has his own view regarding Grace's brother. Korvin is truly an honest man, he did not touch his sister's wage. Instead, he will only use that money for his sister's marriage and a new home for her new family. He previously worked at a bakery and I saw it with my own eyes that he was scolded a lot. He looked so troubled because all of his salary was spent on replacement plates. They did not live a decent life like we imagined, Marvin."

Marvin drew a deep breath and sighed. He was too afraid to make a sound decision.

"Sean, I cannot say anything about it, you know what kind of guy your cousin is, right? Never, not even once, he let go of something he really wanted. Moreover, he had waited for so long for her. since Ms. Hester was still a child. Now that he got her in his grasp, albeit frightened to death, do you think your cousin will let her go just like that? No way, never, not in a million years, even when the hell is frozen. Trust me, we should keep minding our own business and don't be nosy especially about his love life. That is simply not our job."

"But–"

"You want him to ventilate your cranial cavity with a supersonic lead or what?" Sean was silenced to hear that.
