Chapter 19 - Targets

Leo waited a while in the tent, thinking about his upcoming plan.

"Will this really work?" thought Leo.

However, Sogrith supported him.

[Your plan will work, or at least I hope so.]

Leo sighed.

He sat around his tent for another hour, waiting for everyone to go asleep.

After a while longer he finally felt comfortable enough to leave the tent and take a look around.

The campfire was still burning lightly, deterring any animals from approaching their encampment.

Leo looked around a while longer but didn't find anything interesting.

He considered just gunning down the operatives meanwhile they were in their respective tents, but that thought was quickly shut down as he heard a voice behind him.

"What are you doing?" asked the person to Leo.

Leo's skipped a beat when he turned around and saw Two standing behind him.

However, he quickly recollected himself and shot a look at him before speaking.

"Jesus fucking christ Two, do you have to know fucking everything? I was taking a fucking piss, do you want to go check up on that as well? Huh?"

Hawk technically outranked Two so Leo could deliver somewhat of a domineering tone.

"Right, my bad." responded Two as he started walking away.

Leo sighed in relief as he headed back to his tent.

When he arrived he quickly entered and took a look at Hawk's rifle.

It looked like the foundations standard issue sniper rifle, one that he had seen many times before.

Leo played around with it a bit, getting the hang of it.

After all, he would need it tommorow.

Leo woke up when he felt someone tap his shoulder a couple of times.

He opened his eyes and saw Doc standing above him.

"Wake up, we are leaving in 45 minutes." said Doc.

Doc didn't wait around and quickly left the tent.

Leo groaned a bit before trying to sit upright as he felt a sharp pain in his chest.

It took him a lot of power in order not to scream out loud.

"Fuck, looks like the painkillers have stopped working." thought Leo.

Oddly enough, the pain had already diminished a bit even after such short time.

Leo pushed through and sat upright, slowly getting up and picking up his rifle along with his backpack before making his way out of his tent.

He already prepared everything yesterday and he was practically ready for departure.

However, first was breakfast.

Leo sat around the campfire with his 'teammates' and quickly ate his MRE, he didn't have a lot of time after all.

Meanwhile Leo was preparing his MRE, two was eyeing him warily.

After what happened yesterday he didn't have a good feeling.

Hawk never acted in such a way and usually wasn't that stern, but it was too small of a thing to report.

Leo finished his MRE in thirty minutes when he was aproached by Eleven

"Hawk, it's about time you depart, you need to set yourself up, after all."

"Oh, right. My bad Eleven." responded Leo.

Leo was slightly annoyed that he had to depart already, but he was fine with it.

He did one final check to guarantee that he had enough bullets and supplies to last for a while before he departed.

If he was lucky, he would only need six bullets.

Leo left the encampment and headed to the treeline before the village.

He circled it a bit before he got into what he thought was a good shooting position.

He had a clear view of most of the village.

He remembered performing surgery on a foundation sniper who was shot.

The sniper explained to Leo how it happened, that way Leo could perform the surgery in order to stop the bleeding and remove the bullet better.

After the surgery was done they had a little chat about sniping, Leo was using some of the things the sniper said to him back then as reference points.

Hawk's sniper was a bolt action rifle, so after every shot Leo would have to correct his aim a bit and pull the bolt back.

Leo made sure he was in a comfortable position as he started waiting for his 'teammates' to arrive.

They were his target, after all.
