"He told me he missed me when he was gone," Madeline began by saying, before she cleared her throat and continued, trying her best to remember the night Lawrence had pretended to be Xavier.
"Lawrence was sweet, asking if I was okay, before he–"
Her breath hitched, her hand on her neck as she told him sheepishly, "I think you know what happened next."
"Ah," Xavier said.
"I realised he wasn't you when I let it slip that we were dating and he didn't say anything about it," Madeline explained.
Xavier raised his brow.
"What did you do next?"
"I walked away from him, told him we needed to celebrate his return and that I'd get wine. Then I confronted him," Madeline explained nonchalantly, closing her eyes shut in hopes it'd help the nasty headache she had fade away.
"I was shocked to see you and Lawrence in my bedroom," Xavier admitted, chuckling.
Noticing Madeline had closed her eyes, he questioned, "Are you sick?"
