Chapter 67 - Etiquette Class

My father and I arrived at the water mirror and he took me straight to the little tea shop. I really didn't want to do this but the council members are non-negotiable about this. Who knew even the super natural world had its pain in the ass government like officials. We walk into the tea shop and Ethel and Mary are waiting for us. They are always so inviting and excited to see me. They shoot up from their seats and greet us. "Luna, Advisor it's a pleasure to have you join us today!" The ladies said with a bow. The bowing thing always makes me chuckle. Seems old fashion and has a tendency to bring unwanted annoying attention. "Hi ladies, thanks for having us" my father replied. "Luna, come and have a seat!" Ethel said pulling out my chair. "Right, thank you" I replied back, taking a seat. I have to remember, it's for the good of the pack even if it's the last thing I want to do. "Now Dahlia, we are going to go over the much needed basics of etiquette" Mary said. I watch as she shows me how to unfold a napkin and place it on my lap. "This is how your napkin should be placed" Mary exclaimed. I nod my head in compliance. "Dahlia, when adding sugar to your tea, use the tube tongs and gracefully place them in the cup" I watch as Ethel demonstrates while instructing. "Remember, it's impolite to tap your teaspoon against the china" Ethel said again. "Luna, Remember never to slurp your tea" Mary added. The ladies watch as I begin, to demonstrate their instructions beginning to end. "How did I do" Dahlia asked nervously. "Your a quick study, you did amazing!" Mary and Ethel chanted. "Thank you, for taking the time to teach me these things" Dahlia said. "It's no problem! we quite enjoy your company!" Mary said. "Now that we are done with tea, we will show you how to sit in a chair" Ethel said. "How to sit in a chair?" Dahlia said confused. I look to my dad and you can tell he's enjoying my torture way too much. I just glare at him. Mary snaps me out of it "Come dear" Mary hand motions me to follow her. We arrive in another room of the tea house and I see three chairs. "Now dear watch us demonstrate, sometimes it can be a little tricky" Ethel stated. I watch as the two elders of the pack gracefully stride to the chairs. They sit, crossing their ankles with perfect posture. What the hell did I get myself into. "Now Dahlia, it's your turn" Mary stated. I watched as they stood up to watch my performance. "Okay, here goes nothing" Dahlia said determined. I try to mimic their stride and their graceful landing on the chair. I go to cross my ankles and fall right off the chair. "Oh dear, are you okay?!" Mary asks. I can hear my dad laughing in the background. "Yes, I'm fine" Dahlia replied frustrated. "Practice makes perfect" Ethel stated. "Come now, try again" Ethel says encouraging. I must have looked like a newborn giraffe, with how my legs betrayed me like I've never walked before. I kept stumbling over myself and I fell out of the chair several times. My dad laughing every time I wiped out didn't help my confidence. Starting to get angry, I just kept performing badly. I could feel the rage building up. I felt the power seeping out of me. I looked at my dad who was now laughing like a hyena. "Knock it off!" I snarled at my dad. "Whoa, Dahlia, I was just joking around, please calm down" My dad said cautiously. "Dahlia, honey ignore him, you know your fathers always like this" Ethel said backing up grabbing Mary's hand to pull her closer. "I'm...I'm.. sorry" I say snapping out of it. "Did..Did my eyes change again?" Dahlia asked. "Yes, they did" my dad said bringing me into a hug. "I'm sorry I let my anger take over" Dahlia said. "I just want to do this right" Dahlia said. "Oh Dahlia, you don't have to perfect it. We are just giving you tools of knowledge to try and fit in" Mary said with sympathy. "I know, I just let the frustration get the better of me" Dahlia said. "You weren't born with a silver spoon in your mouth, despite your lineage. It will take time, don't try to perfect it, in one day" Ethel said reassuring me. "Thank you ladies, it means a lot, you helping me" Dahlia stated. "I think we will wrap up for today" Mary said with a smile. "That will work, thank you so much again" Dahlia replied. "Thank you ladies, we will visit you again soon" Ethan replied. "You better be on your best behavior Ethan. Why I still remember when you were in diapers!" Mary proclaimed. Her comments made me chuckle as my dad's cheeks grew red. "Right..., well we better be off" my dad said as he was now in a hurry to leave. I waved to the ladies as I exited trying to catch up to my dad. "Etiquette is actually really hard" Dahila said to her father. "Yeah, it can be tricky. Sorry for upsetting you" My father said. "Don't mention it. Sorry for going over board" Dahlia replied. We both chuckled as we made our way to the water mirror.
