Chereads / Pokémon: A layman's journey / Chapter 2 - System!?!

Chapter 2 - System!?!

"Damn, I'm hot" I unconsciously mumbled as I gazed in the washroom mirror. Dark blue, almost purple, slightly long hair; onyx coloured eyes, adoring a handsome pale face. I really was hot, a total ladykiller.

I almost went bi for myself there...Ahem~..let's forget what I said. Well, The only thing which kinda ruined the image was my physique! I wasnt too skinny, but was more like a pretty boy than a bodybuilder, not having much muscle. Anywho, this body was still 14 so there was still much room for it to develop.

yes, finally, I got all my previous memories along with this body's, which I occupied. So basically I'm in the pokemon world. duh~. And live in this small town, called 'brewery town', a day's journey from pewter city. My parents were both normal civilians, with ordinary jobs, who just had one or two pokemon for themselves.

Anyways, I just learned that this world is a bit different from the censored anime in my previous life. Here, it was a bit tough out in the wild cause some pokemon may be wild enough to injure those who trespass their territory. It wasn't rare for people to get fatally injured out there. That was the reason that trainers usually started their pokemon journey at the age of 15, at the very least.

As I pondered upon this world, a shout interrupted my thoughts.

"Get down here you brat. Lunch's ready"

Yup, that's my wonderful mom Clair.

As I walked into the kitchen, I saw a middle aged woman with deep black hair placing plates at the small table in front of my father, Bast.

"Are you gonna help, or what?" She asked, seeing me standing at the door in a daze.

"yeah yeah, I'm coming".

**********

Well, that was fun. I thought laying out in the grass after lunch. I had thought before that it might be awkward for me to interact with my new family, but turns out, it wasn't hard at all. I really felt at home with my parents, feeling at ease with them. It might seem that the previous owner's emotional attachments passed onto me as well.*sigh*

Anyways, I had more pressing matters to think about. Percy, this body's.... OK let's stop saying ' this body's previous owner', we are the same person now. So Anyways, I was 14 years old and had about two months till I get my starter pokemon and begin my journey as a trainer. So I had to make a plan on how to proceed with my life. Well, I was gonna become a trainer for sure. I mean who wouldn't!? But my pokemon knowledge was limited and I really didn't want to become a trainer like Ash. I mean, he had talent and all, but he had very minimal knowledge of pokemon in general, and was an idiot, lets not forget the idiot part. Besides, I didn't have any of that legendary 'protagonist aura' around me to help me through all my difficulties. If I had one, I'd have a GODDAMN GOLDEN FINGER already.

My heart ached at the thought. *sniff* whatever, its not like I needed it or something *snob*

"Hey perc (pronounced: purse) can you get some food for butterfree? I'm a bit busy at the moment" mom shouted from the house.

"yeah, sure" I replied as I got up from the soft grass. I took some puffs from the kitchen cabinet and went to the lawn to feed butterfree.

"wow! this is sooo cool" I grinned as I saw butterfree eat in front of me. This was my first time seeing a pokemon so up close and couldn't help but marvel at this beauty.

"hey, can...can I touch you?" I tentatively brought my hand close to the pokemon ignoring me, and touched it. Well, that's okay I guess. I rubbed the rough head of the butterfree for a moment before releasing it to enjoy it's food.

"arghhhh, what the hell!" A light scream escaped my mouth as I gazed feverishly at the light blue panel in front of me

"My precious.."

[ Pokemon: Butter free ]

[ type: bug/flying ]

[ level: 14]

[ potential: 4 (max potential= 10 for all pokemon) ]

[ moves: bugbite, gust, string shot, sleep powder ]

[ evolution: not possible ]

[ comments: a common pokemon with pathetic potential, and almost no further room for growth.]

[ recommend: Not recommended ( not possible cause already has a trainer) ]

(A/N: recommendation is if Percy should take this pokemon for himself or not, obviously)

'My gold finger is finally here' I internally screamed in joy. "It seems that I, Percy, has not been abandoned by the heavens yet"

"pfttt.. hahahaha, I always wanted to say this young master line, sounds so freaking stupid man!"

" yes dear, unfortunately Percy is having one of his episodes again "

" okay, I'll take him to the hospital "

" W..wait! Mom! Don't tease me!" I furiously blushed cause my mom had listened to my stupid monologue. Ugh... gotta do damage control. I thought as I ran into the house.

**********

After consolidating my mother that I was alright and wasn't smoking marijuana,(why did she think that), I returned back to experimenting with my system. Well, to call it that would be an insult to all those godly systems out there. It was so freaking pathetic!

First of all, I couldn't use it on any pokemon within my sight, nope! I could only use it to inspect the specs of the pokemon I touched, be it wild or trained.

Secondly, there was NO shop, quest, or any sort of skill function for myself AT ALL! like, what the hell man!

Thirdly, this system doesn't even have an A.I to help me become Op.

*sniff* " This stupid system deserves to be called the pokemon system, it doesn't even have anything to help myself at all. But well, it is still quite good, at least I can get pokemon with good potential for myself". Anyways in this world, personal strength is nothing. All depends on the strength of your pokemon"

Giving myself some false hope...Ahem~.. I meant, pumping myself up, I decided to work hard from this moment to become the best pokemon trainer ever. Win championships across the world, become rich and enjoy life to the fullest, which I couldn't in my previous life. And for all that, the system will be my helper, so let's do this!

So first of all, I should go to a library and get some info... am I retarded!? there is a freaking computer right in front of me! ughh... shouldn't have read all those transmigration novels back then. I got to the table, and turned the computer on. Time to binge read!
