As I rubbed growlithe's head, I couldn't help but look over the information showed by the system, once again.

I was so excited seeing growlithe's information that I nearly shouted out loud. Well, my excitement was justified cause according to my understanding of potential, 10 potential was that of legendary and mythical pokemon, excluding the 3 god pokemon, of course, and with that comparison, '9' potential was like a lake in a dessert, or a gold mine in the slums; it was extremely good.
" So kid.... oh, by the way what's your name? I never really caught that." Professor Oak pulled me out of my daze.
"Percy" I replied.
"yeah, so Percy, here is a pokedex, 6 pokeballs, and a badge holder for you. I'd recommend that you start your journey from viridian forest, it'll be a nice place for you to develop. Though it is a bit dangerous, I think you'll manage."
"Thank you so much professor Oak for your help. Please, if you ever have anything you need help with, then don't hesitate to ask." I really was grateful to him. After all, he had handed me such an Op pokemon, which was also one of my favorites.
"hahaha....No worries Percy; Off you go now, keep in touch, okay? bye then"
"sure. buh-bye"
I turned around and left the lab. Outside, I gave my dad a hug and bid him goodbye. From here, I'll officially start my journey to become the best pokemon master, ever!

".....What the HELL!!!???" I screamed. So this system even gives rewards for some hidden tasks.
*sniff* lady luck is finally smiling on me now.
"muahahaha... with this, I'll become unstoppable!" I smirked.
After my little chunni moment, I got growlithe out of his pokeball, and started in the direction of the viridian forest, following the maps installed in the pokedex.
I decided that I'll just head straight there cause I was already behind Ash and other trainers who took off in the morning, and I wanted to catch up.
And yes, I had learned from Professor Oak earlier that Ash and his grandson Gary, had started their pokemon journey just today. So I figured that it really was the pokemon world of the anime.
This was actually great news for me as I was actually a bit familiar with the anime world of pokemon and it really is a bit more safer in this world, than the many other brutal fanfictions I had read in my past life, including brutal murders and Team Rocket for some reason. Conspiracy theory? Hmm, food for thought.
Anyways, putting these thoughts aside for now, I decided to begin from the viridian forest, to catch myself some pokemon and train.

2 hours.
Thats how long it took for me reach the beginning boundary of this forest. My legs were killing me already, after the continuous walking. Well i hoped that i would get used to this walking soon, otherwise, bye bye indigo league. Or i could just get a bike? huh, food for thought.
On the way here, i hadnt met many pokemon, aside from a few flying pokemon. A few rattata and sandshrew were also sighted. But here, at just the outer edge of the viridian forest, there were numerous pokemon, and they werent hostile at the very least. The caterpies, metapods, beedrills and many other pokemon filled the forest periphery.
I walked into the forest, looking for a worthy opponent for growlithe`s first battle. Afterall, battling caterpie`s with growlithe was just bullying. As i walked deeeper into the forest, keeping in check my location on the pokedex, stronger pokemon started to appear.
Ignoring the few docile pokemon, i ran into a pair of beedrills, angrily attacking a stationary metapod. They looked strong enough to give a tough challenge to growlithe so i decided to make his debut, and free metapod of this crisis as well along the way
" ok, growlithe, you`r up." i patted growlithe atop his head, while kneeling.
"Just listen to my commands, and we`ll surely beat them up" I stood and retreated a few steps. The beedrills had long sensed our approach and advanced menacingly towards growlithe.
*deep breath* "yosh! lets do this. Growlithe, use 'leer' on the one in the back, and then ember on the one in the front."
growlithe growled and let out a wave of fiery embers on the beedrill in front, after using 'leer' on the one in the back and reducing it`s damage by one stage. At that moment, beedrill number 1 had already reached growlithe, and didnt have enough time to dodge the embers at point blank range. It took critical damage and flew back, crashing towards the 2nd beedrill.
Beedrill number 2 quickly changed it`s direction before collision could occur. This leading the first beedrill to be knocked back against a tree, looking dazed.
"quick, growlithe, finish it off with another 'ember'." gowlithe jumped to get a better angle and used ember on the dazed beedrill. At the exact same time that ember struck the downed beedrill, the number 2 beedrill used 'twineedle' on growlithe, causing him to stagger.
"Come on growlithe, use 'bite'."
At my words, growlithe quickly rushed forward and used bite on no. 2.
Due to close proximty, bite successfully hit and caused the beedrill to fall on the ground, struggling to get up.
"Now finish them both using ember"
A big wave of ember swept the 2 beedrill away. When the smoke cleared, the two beedrill lay unconcious.
"Excellent work, buddy. You showed them who`s boss." growlithe, looking tired, happily nuzzled against my hand and then lay down in the nearby shade to recover his energy.
I went forward and placed my hands on the unconcious beedrils one after another, hoping for a surprise, but only got disappointment. They really weren`t any top grade material, after all.

After the fight with beedrills, both me and growlithe were feeling a bit hungry, so i decided to find a location for setting up camp. A bit of scouting got us a.... "FREAKING lake in the middle of the forest!!??" i screamed internally. *sigh* I really shouldn`t think of the pokemon world as a 'normal' world, should I. Well, this is my new 'normal' now, so, whatever.
After setting up my new camping gear, courtesy of the system, i decided to cook for growlithe and myself. I took out the 'pokemon basic buffet' (ridiculous name, if i say so myself) recipe book, and looked at how to cook some sh*t.
I had initially thought that it might be a skill book like in those manga`s where it just ingrains itself into your mind and you dont need to do anything at all. But I guess that stuff is given out by the 'cooler' systems, i smiled bitterly at my thought process.
Anyways, I even had some basic supplies and ingredients in the camping gear, and some which i had initially brought with myself from home. "Ok bud, lets make some food for ourselves."

"Ahhh that was something else, huh." I mumbled as I sat besides the lake and caressed the soft, orange-black fur of growlithe laying on my lap. "grrrrh." He growled softly, enjoying the pats I gave him.
Life was good.
We just gazed into the glittering, serene water of the gigantic lake in front of us. The calm water surface occasionally being disturbed by pokemon residing within.
I had noticed in my previous months here, that nature here was truly bountiful. But this place, it was truly out-of-the-world-gorgeous. I never was a particularly nature loving guy, but this scenery would really make anyone quite amazed.
Well, enough with this drama. "Come on growlithe, lets find ourselves some companions on our way to become Op"
*ruff* growlithe happily agreed, or i hoped so. Anyways, enough rest. Lets go kick some a*s, and catch some pokemon!"
