Spending the evening debating, arguing, and working through positions in the government we would make...it turned into just Ilulu, Zero Two, Lucy, and I sleeping bed that evening. The three of them were happy with just being able to work alongside me, they didn't really care about any position or title. When I came down for breakfast the next morning, everyone else was asleep leaning over the table. Putting them to bed properly so they could sleep better, I made breakfast and sat down with Ilulu and company to eat.
"So what are we doing today?", Ilulu asked me munching on some pancakes, "Zero, pass me the syrup please!"
"Well I could use some help making sure we have all the pieces for the GATE.", I stated watching her drown her pancakes with the syrup.
"Eh...", Zero Two said hesitantly.
"If you hear any voices, tell me and we can do something else.", I replied.
Nodding their heads, they agreed to it. Finishing our breakfast, the four of us headed away from the settlement to begin working. Pulling the pieces out of my storage, I had the three of them check to see if there was any issues. Telling me that the voices weren't there, I was both relieved and worried about what that meant. The fact that they couldn't hear voices was good, but if there were no voices that meant that there was a chance that no one survived Davoth's invasion.
"So...is this like building blocks?", Lucy questioned seeing all the different sized pieces.
"I think it's more like a jigsaw puzzle.", Zero Two stated.
"I hate those!! They are too hard and boring!!", Ilulu pouted.
"Don't worry, we will get this done quickly. I'd use magic to do it, but I am concerned what will happen if I do.", I said.
Beginning the job of assembling the GATE, I was surprised that pieces fused together when they came into contact with where they should go. Realizing this, the women started picking up handfuls of pieces and pouring them onto the bases to see what stuck and what didn't. Holding back a chuckle as I watched them do that, I focused on locating the right pieces one by one.
---Several Hours Later---
"We are done!!", Ilulu shouted with excitement.
"Yeah...but it looks like like lots of little pieces are missing.", Lucy stated.
"Yeah, looks like some parts are missing completely.", I sighed, "That is going to be a problem, I don't know how the GATE was made or-"
"Just buy replacement parts.", Midna laughed, "You have an item shop after all."
"Midna!!", the three of them shouted.
"No!! Stay back!!", Midna said standing on my head.
After many tests, I had learned that the three of them could see and hear Midna if they focused hard enough. My guess was that we had some sort of shared senses that allowed them to see her. Either way since they realized they could see her, Midna had been their playmate...against her will. Since Midna could access my Item Shop to buy things, they had used a few points to buy food and entertainment for themselves. Ilulu usually put Midna between her breasts which really made her mad because she thought Ilulu was bragging about them.
Doing as she suggested, I looked in the shop for a way to patch the cracks and holes. Finding some putty that was supposed to be used to repair Divine Structures, I felt it was sufficient to for what I needed. Mixing up the putty, I began filling in the cracks and holes while Midna ran away from the the three women.
"Help me!!", Midna shouted.
"You are my oh so wise guide, you should know what to do.", I stated.
Coming around again, she went to jump into my shadow but I stepped to the side enough so she hit the ground instead of going into my shadow. Momentarily stunned, the three women caught as she flailed around trying to escape.
"You know, Midna might need a bandage.", I told Lucy, "You guys have seen Shizuka and Yuko work in the clinic, right? Why don't you patch her up?"
"We can be doctors today?", Zero Two asked, "They scolded us before when we tried to help."
"Of course you can, here is the gauze and ointment.", I said with a smile.
Telling them she didn't need any first aid, they said she was injured and needed help. While I was applying the putty, I watched them wrap her up like a mummy because they didn't understand how to bandage properly. Holding back my laughter, they wrapped her up so well Midna could barely move right. By the time I was done patching everything, they had finished bandaging her. Floating helplessly into my shadow, she began tearing the bandages off in anger.
"So is it done?", Lucy asked.
"Yes, I just need to add two power crystals which I have on hand.", I stated pushing them into slots either side of the GATE.
As soon as the crystals were in, the GATE lit up as runes appeared all over the pillars. Watching a door appear a few moments later, I was about to push it open to check the other side when I heard footsteps rushing over to us. Glancing over my shoulder, Piña and several others were running over to us in a hurry.
"Don't head over with out us!!", Shandy shouted.
Waiting for them to reach us, all of them took a second to catch their breath before speaking.
"All of us were quite upset when we woke up.", Piña said, "Then we saw what time it was, and realized you had probably moved us from the table last night."
"Yep, I found you all asleep at the table this morning.", I chuckled.
"If you were going to build the GATE, you should have told those of us who were awake.", Tuka pouted, "We all want to go home."
"I would have come back to get you, after confirming it was your world.", I stated.
"Well let's go confirm together.", Rory said.
Nodding my head, I told everyone to stay behind me in case there was trouble. Pushing the doors open enough for us to slip through, we walked to the other side and poked our head out. Fortunately even though the GATE was in Alaska, the GATE in their world was still on Alnus Hill. Using my map to load as much information as I could, there were several black spots on my map suggesting there were separate areas in this world.
"My word...", Piña stated looking at the charred surroundings.
"There are still people!!", Yao said seeing the host of people at the foot of the hill.
Thinking about it, a lot of people may have thought Rory and everyone else managed to make it to another world. Believing they would open a pathway to that world, they came to the only place they knew could connect to another world.
'I guess at some point they managed to close the door, and Davoth has portals else where.', I thought seeing many enemies all over the globe.
This time instead of it being Undead and Demons, it was Demons and Waves from the Shield Heroes world. Knowing that meant there was a portal to that world here, I decided to wait for Raphtalia to wake up before exploring that possibility. Walking down towards the camp, people began to notice our approach.
"Your Highness!", Grey Co Aldo shouted running out of the camp, "You are alive!!"
"Grey!!", the knights shouted as they ran over him, "You got away from the fortress!"
"Haha, it wasn't an easy feat but yes we did.", he chuckled looking back at me, "Who is this young man?"
"Hehe", most of the knights giggled.
"He...he is...", Bozes stuttered.
Hanging her head, Piña couldn't do anymore than blush with embarrassment. Hamilton was the only one that could tell him without choking up.
"He is Piña, Bozes, and I's husband.", Hamilton said.
"All three of you!?", Grey gasped, "Who exactly is he?"
"He is a Warlord from the Other World.", Piña answered proudly, "He is able to kill the Demons with his bare hands, and has many powerful weapons that can kill hundreds of them at a time."
"Name's Victor.", I said shaking hands with him.
Making sure to give him a firm handshake, Grey gave me a nod of approval. Asking me how I met them, I told him the story of them falling out of a portal. Giving him further details about their stay with me, he seemed relieved they hadn't been in too rough of shape.
"I am glad Your Highness is safe.", Grey stated.
"Grey, how many fortresses and cities are left standing?", Piña asked.
"A few dozen, a few weeks back the number of Demons took a sharp drop off. We still get harassed by them, but overall their numbers are much fewer.", he replied.
"Sounds like all that killing you were doing paid off!", Rory laughed.
"Is Rory also...", Grey questioned.
"Victor is not only a Warlord but is an Apostle as well. All of us have met his Deity.", Rory proclaimed.
"Those credentials certainly make him more than enough to marry the Empress.", Grey admitted, "Could I maybe ask a favor of you?"
"Sure, what do you need?", I asked.
Telling me it was easier to show me, he led us through camp to their makeshift medical tent. Inside were several Warrior Bunnies and other races laying on mats in critical condition. Saying that the only reason they managed to reach Alnus was because of them, they kited the enemy away so the civilians could pass safely.
"Hold on a moment, isn't that one Zorzal's slave?", Piña questioned pointing towards Tyuule.
"She is...", Grey replied, "She joined our group with a large host of Warrior Bunnies. Zorzal apparently admitted his lie to them on his death bed."
Glancing over at her, I saw she was still conscious and listening to the discussion. Walking over to her, I looked down and healed her. Telling her to stop playing around, she opened her eyes and stared at me.
"What exactly do you gain from this? I know you hated Zorzal and the Empire with a burning passion based on how Piña talked about your treatment.", I stated, "Why did you come to their aid?"
"Where else was I to go? If you haven't noticed our world is on the brink of destruction.", she replied.
"Uh huh, and instead of watching your captors be killed you helped save them. That doesn't sound like someone that has a grudge to settle.", I pointed out.
Looking me in the eyes, she sighed after a few moments.
"The majority of people in this settlement aren't humans, they are the races the humans walked over. While I hate the Empire, I recognize that not everyone was at fault for what happened. People like the Princess and her knights are just as guilty as Zorzal, but the people that lived in the slums aren't. I hate most knights, that said I can respect Grey because he nearly died protecting everyone.", Tyuule told me honestly.
"I see, our plan was to move people to my world as the population is just as bad there. Would you be willing to serve as an Ambassador for the Non-Humans?", I asked.
Sitting up, she looked at me in anger.
"Are you suggesting we are-"
"My world only has humans on it, we don't have any other races on my world.", I informed her.
Glancing back to Tuka and Yao, the two of them confirmed what I was saying.
"If that term is offensive, please let me know what I can call you by as a group.", I stated.
"It is fine, I understand given you don't know the differences because looks alone aren't enough to identify us by. So you want me to be the Ambassador?", she inquired.
"Yes.", I replied.
"Heal these people, and I can agree to that.", she promised.
"Good, but firstly this needs to go.", I said grabbing her metal collar.
Ripping it apart like it was made of paper, I tossed the collar to the side and began healing the others. Watching her allies and innocent bystanders recover, she watched me closely. Thinking about it carefully, having someone like him as a ruler pleased her as discrimination for nonhumans wouldn't be a problem anymore. Once everyone was healed, the two of us shook hands as the agreement was made.
"When can we begin the process of moving people?", Grey asked.
"Now.", I chuckled snapping my fingers.
Time came to a standstill for everyone but me. Flying up above camp, I overlaid a grid pattern over the area so I could pick the refugee camp up safely. Opening a portal to my world, I stopped time over there and moved to the other side. Since it would take time to build facilities for all of them, I set the camp outside our settlement so they access to what they needed.
'This is going to be a cake walk!', I thought, 'This is some of those RTS games I use to play.'
Leveling the ground before placing the camp, I made everything was good before finalizing the placement and starting time again.
"Now?", Grey asked me.
"We are already here.", I said matter of factly.
"Liar!", Tyuule stated leaving the tent, "There is no way you...HOLY SHIT!!! We aren't at Alnus anymore!!"
Rushing out of the tent to look, Piña glanced back at me in shock. Asking me how I did that, I told her it was magic. Just accepting the answer, she and the other knights ran back into the settlement to get doctors and nurses to have them check people out. Coming out of their tents to look for themselves, the entire camp was shocked they had been transported without realizing it.
"I assume you don't have additional homes for us?", Grey asked me.
"No, we can get started on them immediately though. I'd have moved you onto the island but as you can see we are already packed in.", I stated.
"No one is going to complain with a roof over their head, a full stomach, and a warm bed.", he assured me.
"I just hope our technology doesn't frighten all of you too much.", I chuckled.
"Technology?", he inquired.
"You will understand in a few hours.", I assured him, "For now, please get gather the injured so we can get them treated. I will have have some food made up for your group."
Thanking me, he went off to do as I asked.
