Noah was waiting the entire day for Lia to come back but she was no where to be found. The other wolves were giving him odd stares but didn't dare to move to him, maybe because of his size or the changing eye colour. They could definitely feel, he was another breed but either of them initiated a talk. He was looking at the gate with hopeful eyes to meet her as the moon was over head of him, indicating it was mid night.
The long wait ended when a couple of men walked to the gate and he quickly recognized those were the men who took Lia away that morning. Noah groaned as he furrowed his eyes and stared at them but they seemed to be so indulged in some talks that his stares didn't bother them.
"Is this the one?" One of the man who was a stranger to Noah spoke while pointing at him.
"Yes, doesn't he look different than the others?"
"Hmm, so the deal is fixed?" The man asked while carefully observing Noah, as flash lights fell on him.
"For the amount we fixed. Pay the money and take him before the sunrise or else the authorities would be here to do the routine checkup." The man from noon spoke as he shook hands with the other.
Even though Noah didn't understand their talk completely, he could figure out that he was moving out from there by the night. Away from Lia and his chances to leave as one of the humans that he always dreamed about. The other wolves were awake by then but none of them even bothered to move from their place or even make a small groan. Were they used to it?
"The fund is transferred."
"Okay, guys.... take him out after injecting the medicine." The zoo keeper said as two workers proceeded to the cage with a needle.
Noah growled seeing the needle approaching his skin and pulled away to the other side but the men had already opened the cage and walked in. They didn't seem to be scared by the wolves in there which was confusing to Noah. They threw a chunk of meat to Noah and waiting for him to take it.
"How do I escape?" Noah thought to himself and that is when he saw them raising their needle in the air, ready to hurt him.
Without thinking for another minute, he jumped on them and bit their skin off. It was really strange for him because he has never hurt anyone on his own till then and the only thing he did was give the sleeping potion. He hesitantly hurt them and growled at the others but another three men had already jumped into the cave with some weapons for attacking him.
"Move away." The air was interrupted when a loud shout was heard from the back and the men looked back to see Lia standing there with anger fuming in her eyes.
Noah took the chance and tried to snatch the weapon of the man while other wolves howled into the sky and joined the fight. Lia charged at the new men who stood there confused not knowing what to do and punched him to the ground. Noah continued to bite everyone that came at him while they managed to scratch his legs with the knife they had.
"I said stop hurting him." Lia shouted throwing a big rock at the man who had the bloody knife in his hands.
The lights were all turned on and the animals started responding to the fight making the situation worse and hard for the men. Their top priority changed to fleeing from the place without dying. Noah growled as he was in pain but managed to almost paralyze everyone making sure none of them dies.
"Do not ever dare to hurt animals. They deserve to be free like you all." Lia shouted as she kicked and made them bleed until Noah approached her limping.
"Let's go." Lia said and looked around to make sure no one was there to follow them but distant screams were audible indicating more people are going to join.
Noah bowed down, indicating her to sit on his back and after hesitating for a moment, Lia did exactly as he told because she couldn't run fast with the cubs. Noah dashed out of the place after sparing one last glance at the cage were other wolves were trapped in.
They quickly made it out of the vast area and the noises faded behind them as they moved into a dark alley. The blood was flowing non stop from Noah's leg that he couldn't carry her any longer. His feet wobbled as he tried his best to maintain the pose but ended up falling on his feet. Lia quickly jumped down from him and sat down by his side, observing the cut and bleeding.
"Wait here, I will come soon." She said before running away, leaving the boy all to himself.
He wanted to change back to the human form as it is dangerous to hide with his wolf body which is really big. He looked around to see if anyone was coming and to his luck, there was no one to be seen anywhere. It was right then that he realized that he has no dress or anything to change to because he must have lost it somewhere. He groaned very softly while trying to swallow the pain.
He looked down at the cut and hissed as anger took over him all of a sudden. The taste of blood were still in his mouth from the earlier fight and it was making him want to throw up. This is usual for a werewolf but for him, attacking and fighting was totally not in plans. He licked the wound to subside the pain but nothing was helping him as the cut was a little deeper and at the ankle making it hurt even more.
"I got cloths." Lia interrupted the boy's action as she returned with a pair of dress in her hands.
