Ian watched the girl being taken care of. It's been a few hours since they got back to the capital. The werewolf realm was like a world of its own. Since the war between humans and their kind began, the once united world was divided into two different realms. The human occupied one part and the werewolf remained on the other.
The human realm was divided into different states, eight to be precise. Of the eight states, the Albatross was where the capital of the human realm was located. The other seven states were: Macaw, pheasant, Dove, Nightingale, Toucan, Waxwing, and Blue-ray state.
Each state was headed by a governor chosen by the people. The governors would then answer to the head of the BLACK KNIGHT. This was the person in charge of the werewolf slayers. The Black Knight organization trained all its members to kill werewolves and hunt them.
Like the incident that happened not very long ago, it was the Black squad shadows that executed the rogue wolves in the woods as a show of power. These agents were also called the B.S.S. agents.
Similarly, the werewolf realm was divided into eight packs with each pack being led by an alpha aided by a beta. On top of the hierarchy, however, were the Alpha king and the members of the royal werewolf clans.
The werewolves were well protected within their territories. Unfortunately, some families still found it odd to accept their blood. That was how the rogue werewolves came about. Some wolves had the human genetic structure hence a delay in their shifting. This was considered a bad omen amongst the other wolves.
The "normal" wolves would bully the "abnormal" ones until they ran away from their packs. Whether it was a voluntary move or aided. One way or another, these wolves find themselves isolated from others and often end up dead in the hands of the B.S.S. agents.
At the moment, Ian and his companions have returned to their pack. It was where the Alpha king was based. Aside from being the largest in area, it was also the most developed. Every wolf who stayed in this particular pack was known to be a trained warrior. None could be considered poor amongst them.
They were all members of the noble families, the royal families, and other rich businessmen and women. These were the people who supplied the rest of the realm with all the basic needs. To put it in a nutshell, the golden palace pack was the heart of the werewolf realm.
Whoever wants to get rid of the wolves had to destroy it. For that to happen, the werewolf king must be killed. This wasn't an easy forte. Neither was it hard for the finest of the humans. For while the werewolves could shift with ease, have incredible speed and agility as well as very good hearing, the humans were not lacking. No one knew how it came to be. What they were aware of, however, was that some humans could control the five elements of nature.
Fortunately for the werewolves, the only person who can take down their king was the human who could control all the elements of the nature. There was only one such person according to the Intel they had gathered.
The major problem was that no one knew the gender nor the age of the said person. This was a big flaw in their plans and a thorn in their hearts. They wouldn't know who to guard against while the enemy knew who to target.
Ian's thoughts were distracted when he heard the loud beeping of the machine going off again. This was the second time the little girl almost slipped into a coma. He prayed that she would survive this. If not for herself, at least for the innocent souls that were murdered out there in the woods.
He paced up and down, willing his body to relax. Looking at the clock on the wall, he had an epiphany. Kai was running late. Thinking of the possible reason, he couldn't help but roll his eyes. He hated that woman's guts. She was like a spoiled child who runs behind the man all day just to get his attention.
Ian never understood why his best friend tolerated the woman. Though she was a royal princess, he was the mighty king. The ultimate ruler of the werewolf realm. There were things he could never understand.
Yet, that was one of the reasons Kai loved him. In as much as he had his reservations against the girl, he would never act upon it. He treated her with the respect she deserved. As for Kai, he had let him know before what he thought about Sienna. That was all he could do.
He wasn't going to interfere with Kai's life. He was a grown-up man with the ability to decide for himself. Heck, he made decisions for millions of his species. There was no reason for him to doubt his decision-making ability.
Once again, his thoughts were cut short as the nurse walked out of the operating room. One look at her and he felt relieved. His girl was alright. She survived that very long hour of surgery. He couldn't help but wonder why she was abandoned by her pack.
Ian found it extremely disgusting what some people are doing. Nobody has a choice in how they are born. Why then would a mother abandon her child to fit in with society? Why wouldn't a father stand up for his daughter or son when the entire pack turns their backs on them?
He blamed it on their lack of integrity. Maybe he should discuss it with Kai. He made a silent note to do just that as he walked inside. The strong smell of medicine filled his nose. He wasn't a big fan of a four-walled monochromatic white room with the smell of alcohol and medicine. If he could help it, he wouldn't be here.
Albeit his obvious discomfort, it was his duty to attend to newcomers. As he approached the bed, he couldn't help but notice the girl's striking face. When he found her, she was covered in blood and mud.
Looking at her after her clean-up, he couldn't help but gulp. She was breathtaking. Her curly black hair was spread around her neatly. Her brows were thick and naturally beautiful. She had a lip that would make any man want to kiss her.
Ian felt delighted at once. He had a stupid premonition that made him giggle like a girl all alone. "What do you find so funny in a hospital room?" A modulated husky voice resonated in the room.
Ian looked up feeling like a child caught with his hands in the cookie jar. His gaze fell upon the man who ambled into the room as though he was having a walk in the park. His footsteps were silent, like a predator waiting to pounce on its prey.
It explained why Ian didn't dictate his presence in the room before he spoke. Kai's golden eyes complimented his long golden hair. He came to a sudden stop before the bed as his gaze found Ian's. "You only giggle like that when you are plotting something against me. Spill"
Ian scratched his head looking sheepishly at his best friend. Not wanting to let him know his thoughts, he looked away from him back to the beauty sleeping on the bed. "Take a look for yourself." He gestured with his hands as though welcoming him for an inspection.
Kai rolled his eyes at his best friend but didn't bother looking at the girl. "Let me look. What's there to see?" Came an annoying feminine voice. Ian's initial excitement dissipated into thin air. Why was this girl with Kai again?
"My Lord, I thought that you came here for business. I didn't know that it wasn't as I thought. My bad. You come to play." He ridiculed. Kai sent him a warning glare as his eyes finally found the figure on the bed. At the same time, Sienna was also looking at the nameless nobody.
Her face scrunched up in distaste at once. The girl reeked of antibiotics and medicine. That wasn't the reason for her displeasure, however. She just hated anyone who looked better than she did. This girl was one of those girls she would guard her man against.
Her moon-shaped face shone under the lights. Even with the knife cut on her cheek, she looked radiant. Her full brows were something most girls would kill to have in this modern society. She had a beautiful nose and a charming mole right below her left eye and another below her lower lips.
Her exposed neck was particularly long and attractive. The kind of neck a man would love to caress and hold in the throes of lovemaking. With every little thing she spotted, her envy grew. Out of instinct, she looked towards Kai who was also observing the girl.
From Sienna's perspective, Kai was looking at the girl with the same look that he gave everyone else. The look of indifference. On the other hand, Ian could read the subtle changes in his best friend like the back of his hand.
He saw the subtle gulp that Kai made. The way his throat moved up and down as though it was thirsty. The look of hunger in his eyes, though it went as soon as it came. He saw the way his friend clenched his fist which rested on his back.
The minute Ian saw the girl, he had an epiphany. There was someone he knew, whose taste her appearance suited the most. Kai was bound to find her attractive and he wasn't wrong. Luckily for both their peace of mind, Kai was very good at masking his emotions from everyone else. Sometimes, Even Ian found it hard to read the emotions in those bewitching orbs.
Kai was entranced by the beauty before his eyes. He didn't know why his wolf was wagging its tail so excitedly in his body. His heart gave a single thud that was so unceremonious and out of the ordinary. The more he looked, the more he wished she was awake.
Her scent filled his nose and was infused into his senses. Afraid of what he would do, he looked away from her and met Siena's gaze. "What did the doctor say about her condition?" He asked in a monotone.
It would be safe to say that acting as though he wasn't affected by the rogue would do him a lot of good. Especially because of the princess's presence. Ian frowned. He would never understand why Kai kept this woman around. Given that he disliked her.
He didn't have to be a genius to know that much. The way Kai looked at her was enough evidence of his feelings towards the woman. "My lord, she will be awake in," he looked at his watch and resumed his speech, "Five minutes."
"Given that her wounds were deep and her healing abilities slower than normal, the scars will take time to fade away. Other than that, there isn't anything that a proper diet wouldn't solve. She looks like she has been starving for months before the slayers found their camp. "
Kai nodded, feeling angry inside. She was too young to be subjected to such a cruel fate. It's about time that he called for a meeting with the other alphas. Rules should be set against abandoning dormant werewolves. Anyone who was found doing it would be punished by the king himself.
Sienna was still watching Kai who is in deep thoughts. "Love, what's on your mind?" She hated to think that he was thinking about the beauty lying in bed. What were they going to do with her once she recovered?
"I can't help but think about the rogues and how the humans are killing them at their leisure. They are still wolves after all. They don't deserve to be subjected to such cruelty." Kai found himself admit. He wasn't afraid that she would misinterpret his words,
Werewolves were very loyal towards their kind especially if the enemies were the humans. "I agree, my lord. I was just thinking about that a moment ago. Hey, look, she is opening her eyes." The three simultaneously looked towards the bed. Dazzling silver orbs flashed open, accompanied by a sweet dimpled smile that showcased her bunny teeth.
Kai looked on transfixed, and it was the same for the other two as well. Until she spoke and broke the magic. "I must have died and gone to heaven. The angels look so beautiful and handsome. Especially the golden one. My lord, you are truly ethereal." And she closed her eyes as if she didn't just drop a bomb.
