Blood.
The territory that was once filled with life was now bathed in blood. The blade knew no monster nor human. Both sides were at a loss. Neither is better than the others.
If the Slayers knew that they would be walking into a trap, they would have avoided it. Regrettably, they were led right into it. Now, not only were they injured, but also some lost their lives.
They encountered a battle they never planned for. Their initial plan was an ambush. Who would have known that the werewolves lay in hiding waiting to get rid of them?
Among the twenty-five slayers that left for the mission, fifteen laid dead. Of the ten that survived, eight were fatally injured. The only ones standing were the team leaders, Ava and Colt.
While the humans had it bad, the wolves were in a worse state. They had underestimated the enemies. The initial number of a hundred soldiers was reduced to twenty standing.
The rest were slain in battle before could do much. As the two teams faced each other, their swords were filled with blood. The scent of nature was covered by the stench of blood.
It was at this time that Ian made it into the battlefield. It wasn't part of his plan. However, he was roped in by the scent of blood in the air. Once he saw the scene, he let out a loud howl calling for backup from any werewolf that was around the place.
up until this moment, the humans have only used their knives and blades. No one drew a gun. Ava and colt shared a look of understanding and began to attack. The remaining werewolves were killed after a few minutes.
While the two team leaders killed the werewolves, Ian had attacked the slayers who were already weak. He tore through them like a tornado. Unlike the wolves that had planned the ambush, he was much stronger.
Ian was Kai's beta for a lot of things. Among them were his physical strength and speed. Finally, only the three were left standing. Ian's eyes were filled with blood lust as the image of an injured Lila came to mind.
He recalled her state when he found her in the forest. This only fueled his initial anger. Surrounding him were the bodies of his comrades who died trying to get revenge for their fallen members.
His sky blue orb was now a darker shade as he stood there looking like a fallen angel. Ava and Colt stood on their side. Their blades were cleaned off the blood and kept away inside their covers.
" You must be from the Golden palace. What do you think about our work? Even when you place a trap for us, we end up getting rid of you. Your race is just a pest that doesn't deserve to exist. You are all monsters. You deserve to die."
Ava's voice rang in the air making the birds scatter away. She was an Airbender. When she uses her ability to project her voice, it would echo around the place for miles. Ian's lips curled into a smirk.
" What are you if we are pests? Aren't you the monsters who know only to prey on the weak? If you are as powerful as you state, why don't you ambush the main packs? Why do you only target the rogues like the cowards that you are?"
his words carried some truth which Ava wasn't ready to accept. Colt, however, remained silent. He had a bad premonition. They had encountered an enemy who will not go down unless he had taken them down.
The only way they could get out of this place alive was by killing him. Otherwise, they were doomed. Though they both carried guns on them, it was against their rules to use them without authorization.
if one uses it without permission, they would be punished following the rules of the black knight. Unfortunately, that was their only way out. While Colt was thinking of how to survive, Ava was thinking of making him use the gun.
she still held grudges against him for their previous argument. Additionally, with him, locked up, she can easily override his position and get the rest to support her. She can also frame agent 1 for everything. Hence, Ava came up with a plan.
" Listen up pest, no matter what method we use, you are just that. Pests. Nothing you say can change that? Did you get the little gift we left behind for you? She was such a pretty little thing. I especially enjoyed cutting her up. It was such a thrill"
Those words were meant for Colt but it ended up angering both men. Despite the fury, he felt in his blood, Colt could not retort right now. He clenched his fist at his side so tightly, digging his nails into his palms.
He didn't notice when the nails broke through her skin and made him bleed. He didn't even notice how fast Ian moved to leave behind afterimages of his form as he sent Colt flying while he went for Ava's throat.
His fingers tightened around her neck ready to snap it off her shoulder. She managed to get out of his grip but couldn't dodge his heavy fist in time, All that could be heard was the breaking of bones as she fell to the ground coughing.
Blood trickled down her lips as she coughed violently. By this time, the colt has landed after hitting a tree. His leg was broken due to the impact. If Ian had aimed for him from the beginning, he would have been paralyzed if that tree hit his spine.
he laid on the ground groaning. Ian ignored him as he prowled towards Ava. He knelt beside her, retrieved a knife from his back, and slashed at her cheeks. Recalling all the cuts on Lila's body, he made similar cuts on hers.
Ava's painful groan filled the air alarming Colt. He could not stand up if his life depended on it. As he contemplated what to do, Ava's painful cries woke him up. He didn't think twice before raising the gun in his pocket and aiming at Ian's heart.
without further ado, a bullet coated with wolfbane went flying towards the unsuspecting Beta. Ian felt it before it reached him. He tried to dodge it at the last minute but it was already too late. The bullet went through his body and stayed lodged in there.
Before he could be laid down to rest in peace, Ava retrieved her knife and stabbed him in the stomach. " That's for all the cuts bitch." Ian wasn't the type to accept going down without a fight. He used the remaining bit of his strength to send Ava flying into a tree before he collapsed.
She, unlike Colt, wasn't so lucky. The impact from the tree broke both her legs, instantly rendering her unconscious from the pain. Colt watched on in horror. He no longer cared for the rule as he crawled towards her body.
He took out his phone and sent an emergency code. As he came to a stop beside her, a tear fell out of his eyes. He felt weak for the first time in ages. If agent 1 had been around, they wouldn't be injured to this extent.
It was only then that he realized how dependent they were on agent 1. Every mission they ever undertook with agent 1 was a success. It had almost no casualties no matter the risks involved.
Agent 1 was not only powerful but also a natural leader and strategic planner. He wanted to hold Ava but he felt afraid that he would end up hurting her body. He stayed with her, eyes bloodshot as he thought of agent 1.
Laying forgotten on the ground was Ian whose breathing was getting weaker by the second. He was bleeding out so much. With the bullet and stab wounds, he was quickly losing blood.
He felt coldness sip into his bone. He could feel it. Death was not far for him. He had been driven by his anger such that he forgot about the guns they possessed.
No matter. His only regret was that he wouldn't be able to meet his little angel again. Neither would he meet his best friend. He closed his eyes as bitterness filled his heart.
He swore there and then that if he gets to survive this, he would do things right. Things like making it his life mission to terminate every living human.
The sound of a helicopter hovering in the air could be heard. When it landed, Colt let out a sigh of relief. He had been trying not to let the darkness consume his mind and soul. Now that they were here, he could sleep peacefully without any issues.
With that, he closed his eyes and let the darkness consume his being. The two surviving humans were taken away. Behind them, what was left was only corpses of the wolves.
The humans have taken back their dead comrades. It was only after they were gone that a slender figure dressed in black appeared. The figure moved fast towards the fallen Werewolf beta.
Feeling for his pulse, the person let out a sigh of relief. He was still alive. How he made it was a miracle. Ian was carried away, deeper into the forest as he lay unconscious and vulnerable.
Shortly after the figure disappeared, the approaching sound of howls could be heard. The forest that was known for its peaceful silence was disrupted for the umpteenth time in one day.
A group of werewolves approached the area. Upon their arrival, they were welcomed by the ugly sight of their comrades' death. The biggest wolf strode towards one of the people lying in the middle of the field.
He lowered his head as a tear left his eyes. Raising his head, he let out a mournful howl. The others who accompanied him followed suit.
Several howls of pain and sorrow filled the air. They were mourning their fallen soldiers. They were mourning their families. Though the humans called them monsters, they were no different.
They felt pain like their counterparts. The Alpha shifted into his human form. A young handsome man came into view. Mark walked towards the dead wolf.
He was his younger brother and best friend. His eyes turned red all over again. He wanted to avenge his brothers yet he knew he didn't have the strength to fight the humans.
It was time for the Alpha to send a message to the King. The werewolves gathered their people and left the forest whose peace was restored once again.
Despite the silence, the stench of blood was still heavy in the air. As though nature wanted to cleanse itself of the stain, a heavy downpour fell. The initially bright day turned into a monochromatic one.
The heavy rain pelted down upon the lands with a force akin to a declaration of war. The clouds bled tears of cold as the sky rumbled in protest.
Lightning struck from time to time, leaving behind a boisterous echo. From the darkness of nature to its protest, anger was evident.
Anger towards the shedding of blood between the two children of the sun and the moon. The gods were angry at their foolish children. The land, the trees even the earth protested in anger.
Doom would befall them soon. If the war isn't stopped any time soon, the anger of the gods was going to be unleashed on them. The rain eventually stopped falling.
The forest was cleansed of the blood. The land was back to its original state once again. Nature had restored itself as the gods showed their might.
Though the day was sad for both sides, it also made them rethink their next actions against each other. This was like a break from war. Each had to nurse their wounds, bury their dead and mourn them.
It was only after that can they thought about killing each other again. Before then, peace was temporarily restored.
