Chapter 27 - The Hunters Of Aliron

Chapter 26

I constantly disliked groups of people and now I loathe them exceedingly…

Me and Elijah continued running as quickly as we could out of the area but then groups of people started to surround us. I didn't understand what was happening but seeing the look on Elijah's face, he knew. God this is the type of situation in which my claustrophobia gets too much. Then I started to get unsteady but Elijah tried to give me a reassuring smile as if to say we'll get out of this. Which I knew was too good to be true.

"WELL LOOK WHO WE HAVE HERE!" A man roared.

Cheers and screams came from the group as the man came up front towards us. He was a muscular man about 6"3 towering over us. He wore a plain black t-shirt with some black jeans and boots. His hair was straightened backwards like he was trying to make a statement. He had dark brown eyes and a slightly tanned face.

"WELL CAN YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELVES TO OUR GROUP?" he asked.

I knew that I couldn't give him our real names so I just produced some fake ones.

"I'M DARETH BAINS AND THIS IS SAM TAYLOR!" I explained.

Elijah looked at me with a curious expression but I nodded at him to go along with it.

"YES, THAT IS CORRECT!" added Elijah. If the plan I had in mind didn't work then I had to go with plan B which was not a good one.

"Well, why have you come into our territory?" He questioned.

"We are travellers! He is my brother and after we heard the purge being announced, we came to France to live a peaceful life. We are sorry if we have disturbed you!" I answered.

The group looked as if they were devouring my lies and I really hoped that they did. Then unexpectedly, all of them started to laugh and giggle amongst each other. Oh god, I didn't like where this was going.

"DARETH YOU ARE NOT DISTURBING US! YOU ARE JUST IN TIME FOR A FEAST!" He cheered.

"What's the feast?" I asked.

He had a grin on his face like the answer to the question was going to be amusing to hear.

"THE FEAST IS...YOU!" They all shouted.

I needed to get out of this place so I sneaked into my pocket and brought out a small bomb the size of an apple. Then I took out the key and launched it at a bunch of people which dropped to the floor. Elijah joined in and we got them down bit by bit until there was only the man and a couple of his friends left. But we were out of bombs: I had nothing but my fists which looked pretty weak compared to them.

"LOOKS LIKE YOU ARE DEAD MEAT AFTER ALL!" They shouted.

At that moment I couldn't take it anymore.

A screech filled the atmosphere.

All the anger and stress intensified inside me causing the people to start squealing and slump to the floor.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU!" The man asked whilst holding his hands on his ears.

"YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE!" I replied and with that, they all fell to the floor. Elijah looked back and forth at what just happened. He seemed like he was going to speak but was too startled.

At that, we began running back towards the jet as I wiped black blood from my nose and eyes...

Hazel

Have you ever felt this sort of uncontrollable feeling wash you away?...

Me and Aanisah started wandering around the clearing, searching for groups of people in hiding.

Nothing.

We kept marching, hoping that the place was clear for when we were to destroy ALIRON. But still, a part of me wanted to know why I was so important to them. Whenever those memories of the past come back, I never understood what they meant.

"Ok, so what is the deal with you and Jamie?" Aanisah asked.

"What do you mean?" I replied.

Aanisah gave me a smirk but carried on.

"Well, you too have this type of connection together that I have never seen before. You both like each other but don't dare to ask!" She explained.

Instantly, I knew that she was right. I fancied Jamie and I think he fancies me back but we can't say it to each other. Then I explained to Aanisah and told her about how I just couldn't do it.

"Which is why you have a friendly matchmaker by your side!" She squealed. Already I was frightened where this was going when all of a sudden something moved around the shrubs.

"Hazel, we're too close to the church!" Aanisah added.

But then before we could do something four guards came out from a small wooden cabin, holding a large silver case.

"Careful with that! The leaders want it in perfect condition!" they demanded. That word rang in my head. "Leaders". I began to feel dizzy as sections of my mind tried to grasp a memory that was too distant.

"Hey, you doing good?" Aanisah mentioned.

"Yeah, but we have to get that case. Something tells me it's important," I declared.

"You read my mind," Aanisah replied.

Aanisah and I started to advance and surround the guards but something felt off. The building was too close but I didn't see any guards around the perimeter. Oh my god!

I tried to warn Aanisah that this may be a trap but she was too far off to hear.

"GET THEM!" Men roared from all areas.

Guns aimed at us from all directions and guards took a strong defending stance. We quickly put on our masks to make sure we wouldn't be recognised. I turned behind to see if there was a way out but we were circled. Why do we always get in ridiculous circumstances?

"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!" The leader roared.

All his intimates were dressed in camouflage suits that merged perfectly with the area. The silver case was on the ground and I knew that I only had a couple of minutes before it got sent to the church.

"We are from Brazil. I came here with my mother for a holiday but then a warning went off and people went in hiding. We were searching for help and we have found you!" I started with a strong accent.

"Well, then you can go on your way. Sorry for the inconvenience." He answered.

We started moving away from the church with me breathing heavily when the man shouted again.

"HEY WAIT YOUR CLOTHES ARE LIKE OUR APEX ALPHAS! CATCH THEM!" He roared. From all directions, his comrades ran after us. I started running as fast as I could when Atlas's words repeated in my head, "Your powers are a gift." At that moment, I stopped in my tracks.

"HAZEL WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? GET MOVING!" Aanisah ordered.

"THERE IS NO POINT...WATCH!" I responded.

Just as I did in the apartment, I did it again. I spread out my arms and connected with my surroundings. I recalled the time when me and Jamie were in the cabin cherishing pleasant memories.

Next, I thought of all the pieces of rock, metal, glass etc I could use to my advantage; every atom at my fingertips. Then triumphantly, the pieces started to rise. Hundreds of objects were in the air and I focused them on the guards. They began to kill each one to the ground. I continued doing this until I saw no person in sight, only Aanisah. About 30 bodies of guards were on the floor with blood trickling from all areas.

"Ok, that was amazing to see!" She exclaimed in pure shock.

I delivered her a smile and kept moving. My head was spinning like it was in orbit but I managed to keep it in control just like Atlas taught me. We went to the silver case that was neatly resting on the floor. Aanisah picked it up and together we started going through a short forest back to the jet.
