Chapter 31 - The Hunters Of Aliron

Chapter 30

Why did I never visit New Zealand??....

Me and Aanisah blasted through the entrance with everyone holding their heads. Aanisah held a huge gun in her hand and well I had my powers.

With one huge scream, everyone collapsed on the ground with blood gushing from all places. I walked in to see Hazel and Layla staring at me in horror.

"Jamie, what's wrong? Why are you covered with blood?" Hazel questioned. But before I was able to say anything, ALIRON leaders marched down the stairs. They stared at us with extreme confusion.

"WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE??? ALL OUR SUBJECTS!!" yelled Josiah.

Fury washed over my face seeing the two people that had ruined our lives. Alarms were ringing in my head while blood was pouring down my nose. I had to keep it at bay just for a few more minutes.

"GUYS WE NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE! ME AND AANISAH PLANTED BOMBS IN THE SEWERS!" I whispered quietly.

Then just as the leaders tried to run I fried their brains, causing them both to stumble down the stairs head-first.

Ummm Whoops?

"GUYS, WHERE IS ELIJAH?" Layla ordered.

Aanisah told Layla about what Elijah had done whilst cursing every time she uttered his name: she kicked a body on the floor, causing blood to be splattered on her shoes.

"I should have never trusted that brat!" Layla added.

Then something caught my sight. The entire top building was on fire!

"GUYS LOOK UP!" I shouted.

A blaze erupted at the top of the building causing demolition at every matter it gently stroked. Black, charcoal smoke filled the hazy air as grey, sombre clouds gradually blocked the illuminating sun. Other substances fell from the sky like droplets of rain, but dirtier. Stones, glass and gravel escaped from the mass of smoke that released an unpleasant scent.

We then quickly ran out of the building as the fire grew more powerful and bigger.

Everyone stared. Pain ached on every part of my body. I wiped the blood on my nose when I heard something come from the building.

"GUYS! PLEASE HELP ME!" Elijah screamed.

I turned to see Elijah on the stairs of the church, coughing and groaning. With no consideration, I ran into the burning church to save him. The entire church was blazing. I ran to the stairs and held Elijah but he collapsed to the floor. I checked his pulse to see it drop dramatically at every wheezing breath.

"Jamie, am I dying?" He asked weakly. Tears dropped from my eyelids on the burning ground causing a sizzle.

"IT'S FINE WE CAN FIX THIS OK! HAZEL CAN HEAL YOU!!" I requested.

"It's okay Jamie, you gave me the thing I needed most. You destroyed ALIRON! Thank you for bringing me peace...I'm sorry," He said. But then Elijah slumped on me and his eyes floated into a void of eternal darkness.

I closed his eyes and held him closely.

"JAMIE! GET OUT, THE FIRE IS GOING CRAZY!" Hazel screamed.

Reluctantly, I abandoned Elijah there and ran to the entrance. But it was blocked by a burning piece of oak.

"I CAN'T GET OUT!" I shouted. I tried to move but it was no use. Hazel was in front of me, crying.

"Jamie, I can't use my powers. They're not working but please can we try it together?" She asked.

"Yes," I replied in despair.

We held hands midair letting each other in while sparks grew all around us and a huge blast expanded outwards for miles. The piece of wood was removed from the door and I smiled in relief. As I was about to escape, someone grabbed my leg and tripped to the ground.

It was Josiah. His face was pure terror.

"THIS STARTED BECAUSE OF YOU AND WILL END WITH YOU!" He shrieked. In a great panic, I tried to tug myself free in vain.

This was hopeless.

Why did it always happen to me? I never asked to be kidnapped! I never asked to be chosen! I don't want any of this, just normal life! Tears streamed down my face and with a final newfound determination to survive and fight, I freed myself just as Josiah drew out a knife with intentions to plunge it into me.

Just as I thought I was finally rid of him, a cold hollow feeling grew inside of me. Slowly, I stared down to my chest to see a sharp blade poking out of it. Blood issued from the wound.

Fatigue overcame me and I fell into a never-ending abyss. Darkness…

Hazel

Ever seen the love of your life die before you…?

No...why?

A scream of shock and horror left my lips which caused an instant shockwave to my surroundings. Debris that was already destroyed to crisp obliteration even further. An earthquake shook violently as the ground cracked open in surrender. I watched him collapse and become lifeless. Guilt washed over me...somehow this was my fault. I know it was.

Now anger…

A burning fire was reflected in my eyes as I pictured a single word into my mind - KILL.

With a painful cry, I charged forward with a dagger clutched tightly to my hand. Grabbing a fistful of his shirt, I dragged Josiah to his knees to which he pleaded and begged for forgiveness. Without any remorse, I dived the dagger into his heart twice...dead.

Jamie

Why can't I die peacefully without a stupid vision bothering me…?

As I opened my eyes, I saw myself back in the church. No bodies. No fire. Just me.

This was pretty weird. I just hoped to myself that this place was not my afterlife, what a dreadful place it would be to spend the rest of eternity. I searched my surroundings to see if anything was out of the ordinary - nothing was, except for the fact that all the destruction was gone. I marched up the stairs when I heard a noise come from the top section.

What the hell?

Next, I slowly walked up the stairs to the top floor, hoping to see anybody but the leaders of ALIRON. Then in one of the rooms was a silhouette of a man standing by a window. His face was attached to the mesmerizing sunset...

He had light ash brown hair and dark grey eyes. He had warm, beige skin. He looked my age, maybe older...?

"Who are you?" I questioned. The man turned around and gave me a smile.

"Hello there Jamie," he said in a calming and comforting voice yet strange.

I kept my distance but questioned him again.

"What is your name?" I demanded. Still no answer.

"Jamie your questions will be answered but for now all you need to know is that my name is Atlas Maverick and I might be a friend if you allow me to be!" He cheered.

Something was really wrong with him and I didn't want to know what. I ran to the exit but then the door slammed shut and I wasn't able to open it. Fed up, I turned around and roared, "I AM SICK OF PEOPLE CONTROLLING WHAT I CAN OR CANNOT DO! MY LIFE WAS PERFECTLY FINE UNTIL I LISTENED TO THEM! I DIED BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE A CHOICE AT WHAT I WANTED TO DO!!!" Anger dangerously boiled inside of me.

Atlas did nothing but laugh. Right then I couldn't take it anymore: I boiled his brain with my mind, causing him to fall to the ground screaming with pain.

"NOW LET'S TRY THIS AGAIN!" I roared.

"You little- you think that you can hurt me! I'm the type of person that doesn't go away easily. If you don't believe me, ask your little friend. What's her name? Oh yes - Hazel?" He revealed. My heart felt like it had been stabbed all over again and skipped a beat.

"WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT HER?" I demanded but with a slight but noticeable change in my tone.

"Well, nothing much. Only that Hazel is a powerful little girl that has abilities she can't control. Every time her mind is in a weak state, I come in to assist her to achieve her full potential!" He replied with a sense of pride emanating from his words.

"I'm here to tell you Jamie that you might have won a war with the leaders of ALIRON but you're forgetting someone. Just think about it. The person that has despised you, the person that knows your every move, the person that would want nothing more than to see you and your friends in peril?" He warned.

"No! That's not possible we destroyed ALIRON! We won!" I denied.

"HAHA! Yes, you won that battle but another one is brewing. One you haven't completely got rid of. One person still lives and by the look on your face, you know who I'm talking about." He continued.

"Tatia?" I answered as a pit grew into the depths of my stomach. The realisation hit me like a tsunami.

"Yes!"

"Wait, was it Tatia that created the fire in the church? Oh my god, she was covering her own tracks!" I realised.

Atlas kept laughing as tried to constantly open the door. But then the ground started to tear open trying to suck me through.

"Jamie, there's only one thing left to say. When you wake up again you won't remember any of this which is why I gave you all the answers you needed! In order to hunt an Apex Alpha, you must become one which by the looks of it was successful. Goodbye Jamie and good luck. You're gonna need it" He smiled.

Then as I dropped I reached out to my body and was transported back to life.
