The sky was grey and it was practically raining cats and dogs.
Last Resort swore he saw something akin to a Rottweiler fall out of the sky.
Last Resort leaned against the wall of what was probably an apartment building judging from the random voices and occasional bark from a dog he heard. He was looking at his phone at the mission directives he was given.
'Find Turbo
Incapacitate Turbo
Bring him back to the Warlords HQ'
LR turned off his phone and sighed. He hated these types of orders. If playing videogames had taught him anything; it was that whenever there was a chance of something bad happening, it was probably going to happen. Like Milo Murphy's law.
LR understood Akila's reasons for sending him specifically to nab Turbo. After all he was the second strongest soldier second only to her and Turbo was one of the most vital members of the entire gang. A lieutenant of the scouting branch and record keeper of all their arms and arms deals. LR had to admit even he would have a hard time letting such a valuable and volatile asset go.
"What the hell did you drag me out here for anyway Lance... it's like 10 in night..." Boris rubbed his eyes (yes this is a flashback in which Boris still had both of his eyes)
"You, Christine and Clòvis always pestered me with questions about the life of a gangster. Figured I'll ask you to come with and see first hand how we do things down here...." LR ruffled Boris' then black hair and grinned.
He wasn't exactly lying about his reason for bringing Boris out here. He really did want Boris to see first hand what it was like to be a gangster. The only thing stopping Boris from becoming a gangster himself was the fact he didn't think he was strong enough, coupled with almost crippling insecurity and fear of holding whatever gang he joined or formed back.
LR wanted to show him it wasn't as bad as he thought it was.
Boris pushed LR's hand away in mock annoyance. "Don't do that. It looks gay"
"I know you know in your bones that what you said makes no sense"
Someone stepped out from a side door of the building and stepped into the alley. The person that LR was waiting for.
"I know you're out there Lance...you and your buddy can come out now..." Turbo spoke to them, his hands tightly holding unto something in his jacket. He was roughly the same height as LR and had a sad yet fierce look in his light green eyes. His shaggy brown hair was styled into a mullet and he had a 'Warlord' tattoo underneath his right eye.
"No need to get shifty Turbo...I'm only here to lead you back..." LR lifted up his hands in surrender and stepped into the alley with Boris doing the same and following him.
Turbo gripped whatever was in his jacket tighter and stepped back. "No! I'm not going back to that hellhole! What you guys do is just...wrong! You can't run around mutilating people just to make money...."
"Calm the fuck down Turbo! It's not like Akila's going to kill you or something. She just sent me to get you..." LR stepped forward calmly, hands still in the air.
Boris watched wordlessly.
"...N-no....you guys...I know how she behaves... she's going to kill me in cold blood... just like she almost murdered that Alvarez girl...." Turbo touched something on the object concealed in his jacket and a sound like something being locked in place rang out in the dead of the night.
"No such thing is going to happen..." LR's fingers twitched, something that happened whenever he felt in danger or the need to fight. He couldn't risk rushing forward to get what was obviously a gun underneath that jacket. He couldn't risk Boris getting hurt, especially since he asked him to come out here in the first place.
Turbo was in hysterics. "L-like hell it w-won't!" He pulled Deathbringer out from underneath his jacket and pointed it at LR, his eyes already in the scope of the rifle. "... she's going to k-k-kill me! Just like she k-killed all the others!" Turbo fired the gun at LR, who ducked and rolled for cover behind a dumpster.
The shot rang out like church bells on a Sunday....
And the bullet hit someone else.
Boris flew to the ground with blood spraying out of the spot where his left eye used to be. He was out cold.
LR stared at Boris' motionless body for a few seconds, unable to register what had just happened. Everything was in slow motion for him.
Turbo dropped Deathbringer and tools few steps back, stuttering uncontrollably.
"I...I didn't mean to....it wasn't...m-my fault... I didn't mean to...." Turbo couldn't finish his sentence before LR was suddenly upon him, raining down punches like hail.
Turbo could barely see any remnants of the man who was formerly Lance Redford. All that remained now was an animal. One that wanted vengeance like a lioness who's cubs had just been killed.
"St-stop!" Turbo cried out, hoping to bring some sense back into Lance's mind.
No such luck.
Lance punched him in the face again, knocking him into a wall.
No time to breathe. LR was on him again.
Punch after punch after punch. Whenever Turbo felt himself slipping out of consciousness a hit to the face brought him back to the land of the living.
The storm of blows ended.
Turbo opened his swollen eyes. He could barely make out the form of LR standing before him as he slumped to the floor.
'Finally... maybe... he'll let me go...' Turbo thought as bloody tears leaked out of his eyes.
He was wrong.
LR lifted him up by the neck, holding him in the air. Turbo scratched and fought against the grip of LR vainly. It was no use.
"P-please... I... didn't mean to....p... please...." He pleaded through busted lips, each word hurt terribly. His two front teeth were missing. He could see them embedded in the flesh of his attackers fist.
Police and ambulance sirens were becoming louder. Someone must have heard the shot and called the pigs.
LR cocked his fist back and threw it into Turbo's head, breaking through his skull and caving his face in, blood, bone and brain matter splattering everywhere.
LR pulled his hand out of Turbo's head and winced.
He looked out the alley.
In his rage he hadn't noticed that the police had arrived. Boris was already being loaded into an ambulance.
LR didn't even struggle against the officers that had surrounded him. He just accepted it.
As LR was being led to the waiting police cars, they all failed to notice a young boy lift up the Deathbringer with tears in his eyes.
