"I'm not that innocent!", I said too loudly. "I can bet what you are thinking. But I have more worldly experience than you can imagine."
I think he easily sensed the anger and annoyance of my outburst. It seemed to confuse him. He spun me around in one languid, fluid motion; so that I faced him.
Feeling defiant and ready for a fight, I met his eyes easily. His gaze was intense. He looked at me like he was searching for the truth of something.
There was some kind of emotion he was hiding behind his eyes; I couldn't tell what.
Still prickly, I hadn't stopped talking yet.
"What? You think that because I am the High Priestess that I'm some sort of angel?", Ha! I scoffed. Shows how little you know. No where is it written that any of the priestesses can't lie with men."
I saw a fire behind his eyes, anger.
'Angry, are you? What right do you have to be angry? What do I owe to you?', I thought with disbelief.
"I see you believe me.", I said smugly. "But I don't care if you believe me or not. It's the truth."
I watched a vein near his temple twitch as he took a breath in and asked me, "How long ago did you sleep with this man?"
I looked him up and down with distain. How dare he ask me a question like that!
Riled with fury I spat, "Men. As in multiple, not man. And that is none of your business!"
At the same time, I shoved his hands off me as I began to march away from him.
I only got a couple of steps from him when I felt this surge of a dark, angry aura. Instinctively, I knew something in him had snapped. I had no idea what a rampaging alpha male werewolf could do. But I had the feeling deep in my gut, that I was about to find out.
Very slowly, I turned my head to look over my shoulder at him. What I saw made my heart drop to my feet. He was transformed, but not like before.
Instead of looking like a gigantic wolf, he was something else. He looked like a monster werewolf from the old classic monster movies.
'Crap! I didn't know that was a thing!', I thought with worry. 'I don't think the legends covered this.'
I think the worst part of it was his eyes. They literally glowed red. It put the fear of the Goddess in me.
'I need a plan.', I thought.
"Um, hey, David…", I began, as I slowly turned back around to face him.
It was like my voice broke the spell of the stillness. He rushed at me at full speed.
'Oh great! Here we go.', I thought as I began cursing myself for my stupidity. 'Dumb me has to poke the bull and then not expect it to charge.'
I ran to the nearest tree and using a large low-hanging branch, swung around it and grabbed a slightly higher branch off the next. I pulled myself up into the tree and climbed.
Crashing noises told me he was close on my trail. Each time I jumped into another tree from the current one, he followed, leaving a wake behind him of debris like a small tornado.
'This isn't working. Escape isn't a good option. He's going to destroy the whole park at this rate!'
Balancing on a tree limb, I peaked earthward to see him snapping branches and pulling large swaths of tree bark off trees.
'I have to fight him.'
"David!", I called to him as he got closer. "I wish you would stop this! I don't want to have to hurt you."
He snarled and roared in reply.
'He's just a bundle of rage and hate. How do I neutralize it?'
I closed my eyes. It was time to put my training into practice. I took a deep breath. I reached as far as I possibly could and gathered energy from the trees, the earth and even the water and electricity from the air.
I gathered the energy around me like a cloak.
I opened my eyes and knew I had a matter of about twenty seconds before he could reach me. I gathered energy in my right hand and then jumped off the branch.
I fell with gravity, hitting him in the chest, and forcing him further earthward with the energy ball. We met the ground like a comet hits the earth and left an impact crater.
I felt the air forced out of his lungs on impact beneath me. I sprang up, quickly as I could. He wouldn't stay winded for long.
I saw him shake the dirt out of his fur as he righted himself.
I concentrated the electricity I'd gathered and hurled it at him. The effect wasn't as great as I thought it would be. It slowed him down but didn't stop him. It angered him, frizzing out his fur and making his muscles twitch.
If I kept him in one place, then it would stop him from destroying the entire forest as I found some way to calm him down.
'Traps. I need trap spells.'
He rushed at me attacking with furious, sharp claws. I blocked him with air energy but slid backwards a few feet as I absorbed the impact of his blow.
His back paws dug deep into the earth beneath him as he struggled to get at me. I tried talking him down, but to no avail. He seemed completely unresponsive to my words. It was like he couldn't hear me.
The battle was long, and intense. Any precious spare seconds I managed to slow him down, I used to create trap spells.
As much as I didn't want to hurt him, I inflicted non-life-threatening injuries, in a vain attempt to slow his attacks.
When I had several trap spells done, I dashed from spot to spot, placing them in a circle where I could activate them.
By the time that was done all I had to do was lure him into the center and link the traps.
I let him tackle me to the ground and rolled us both towards the trap circle center. Adrenaline pumping through my veins made me stronger as I pushed him off me with all my might and reached for the knife stashed away in my sports bra.
Blood of the caster only made spells and magic stronger. I intended on making a cut on my arm to add the hearts' blood to my work.
But he was stronger, and moved faster, than I anticipated. His injuries healed themselves quickly.
As I drew the blade from its hiding place, he slammed into me with a bone jarring smack.
I cried out as the blade drew home, sticking itself deep in my flesh. I looked down at the blood flowing down my ribs and to the ground below.
