No one expected a a big change to occur in the monster maps. And certainly, no one expected a troublemaker would crop up in novice village level and that troublemaker would be a female.
How could a novice player cause such a big change in the monster maps? Few complained directly in game forums. Few reported it as bug to the gaming company. Few people, mainly those of higher hierarchy in the guilds started wondering if there was due to certain change in the story? They have been working in so many games in recent years and what they had seen .... well, less said, the better.
Nia was unaware that a certain doom was approaching her. Whether it came from the players, the gaming company or the monsters in the map, no one knew. But every single moment she spent in the 'Chicken Farm', was one more moment she was closer to her doom. Doom, not death. This doom would be worse than death.
She was checking how many more materials she might need and if her cache of red and blue pots could hold her till then. She still needed drops from those roosters but others were long filled. She even had many in excess. After some calculation, she decided to stop. She could do one more zone, true, but what would be the use? The rooster drops from one zone would not fill the quota. Better to dumb all the relevant things and search other low monster maps. She was nearly level 5. She had indeed massacred so many beings that her level could not help but to increase. IF her level increased even more, she might not get drops from the monsters anymore.[ Good thinking from gaming company. Bus carrying/ carrying others could be done only if your levels are nearly similar. This would also ensure that higher level players searched higher level monsters instead of constantly camping in lower level monster maps.]
Looking at Niyathi [Nia's in game character] strolling over the maps and taking the road to village as if nothing happened, few of the short tempered ones could not hold themselves back and they decided to gang up on her. They were mob but they had a cause. A just cause. They were righteous.
One of them, Bosco, a warrior but the look of that aggressive halberd, took the lead. "Hey, you! why are now running away?" Soon few more voices chimed in. [Wow! The side characters to a bully cliche still appeared in the game. Isn't it enough that it happened regularly in real life?] "Yeah! Where do you think you are escaping?" "Do you think you can get past us to safety of the village?" "How shameless are you? How can you run away without apologizing to us? Or making reparations?"
The last one, the sharp one with overt greed was from Alexa, a truly beautiful girl. She had spent quiet a lot of money to to keep her own face (nearly) and accessorize her character. In real life, she was a beauty queen. She had thousands of followers in the social networks. Yet, she could not seem to break the threshold and become a household name or a popular girl in the beauty segment. She had decided to try her luck in JIN HO. She just wanted to make waves and get noticed. Who cares if one is right or wrong? A pretty face, few crying scenes and she could pull in many men. And send the recording of the same in the forums and social networks, her popularity is bound to increase. So more wild and impossible the argument, the better for her.
Another reason was, she,i.e, Niyathi, had extra storage bag. She was in this maps for so long. She would have lots of drops. Though after death, the players would not drops items from inventory or from their body or loose any points [remember, I said, Novice Village had so many bonuses, that too in the beginning?], the player would gladly hand over the items to to escape from their clutches.
This incident would make her a star. The drops and possibly the extra storage bag would be cream of the cake. So Alexa decided to be aggressor. She had truth [apparently], people, and charisma on her side. She would not lose anything.
Nia might look meek, but she was a tigress. She did not argue or fight because she knew most of the times, they would be waster of her time and energy. She directly ignored the mob and their allegations and walked on towards village road. She had to finish at least some of the quests in Aurrum's list, she had to find a place to start making potions and give to Aurrum to sell it on consignment basis. She did not have time to sit near village square and hawk her wares.
Come to think of it, how did others bartered or sold items in this game? She had not noticed any makeshift shops near the village square. [It was very early in the game, Nia. The players would obviously not have enough drops for themselves, let alone extras which they could sell for some moolah/ credit/coins. Remember, you saw the village square at the beginning of the game. Players would be either queuing or in quests.]
She still had to finish other quests, meet Grandma Esla to learn cooking. She had to meet other quest givers for skills and more. After wacking the monsters with staff for hours together, she definitely appreciated the skills- especially those causing more damage - physical or magical. She still had to see other nearby monster maps and .....list seemed endless and nearly half day was gone. [ lets assume that Nia is calculating one game day as eight hours- maximum amount of time she could use gaming console at a stretch.]
