Chapter 3 - BACK TO HOME

In the morning, after coming back late at night, Sheena was still in bed.

Aunt May went into her room and sat at her side. She extended her hand to caress her hair and suddenly realized something felt wet. Narrowing her eyes, she touched the pillow and realized it was all wet,

'poor child must have cried all night', she thought to herself.

She gave up the thought of waking her up; she sighed and left the room.

Later in the evening, there was a call from the family home. Butler Lee was on the phone. Walking down the stairs, Sheena realised Aunt May was talking anxiously over the phone.

She came around and sat next to Aunty may trying to eavesdrop on their conversation. Observing Sheena was interested, Aunt May started speaking loudly,

"What?? Senior Sir is sick...."

"Isn't feeling well? Fainted yesterday after I returned the call? "

Listening to this, Sheena stood up. Her little face showed the worry for her grandpa clearly, with her creased face she nudged Aunt May.

"Is grandpa fine? What happened to him? Why did he faint out of a sudden?"

Listening to this aunty, May continued..

"Miss yesterday didn't you say we won't return. I informed Senior master, and he likely fainted after it."

Sheena felt like the floor under her foot was shaking. She extended her hand, took out her phone and immediately placed a call. The call wasn't picked up.

"Why isn't he picking up..?" 'worry' written all over her head.

She dialed again as she muttered to herself. Again, nobody picked it up.

Sheena went to Aunt May,

"Aunt May ask butler Lee why isn't grandpa picking up my call? Is he alright?"

Hearing her, Aunt May sighed and said,

"That's what butler Lee is saying. Senior Sir has locked himself in the room. He doesn't allow anybody to meet him. Butler Lee said, Sir was sad as your father doesn't visit him and now even you are refusing to return."

Sheena looked at her in confusion. She narrowed her eyes. Obviously, she was aware why grandpa was doing this.

She told Aunt May to book the tickets for the next flight and headed upstairs to pack her bags. She knew she doesn't have to tell them to inform grandpa.

On the other side, the old man sitting on his rocking chair looking at the sunset was delighted when he heard his granddaughter was returning. He told the servants to prepare everything accordingly to welcome her. As they all left, loneliness again surrounded him. He looked down guiltily.

'My poor child, no matter how I tried to protect you. There is always a void in your heart.'

He was sad but happy as well, thinking about the little girl. As all the flashback went behind his mind, her laugh, only he knew how much he missed her.

'Her little hands.'

'How much has she grown up?'

'Has time changed her?' .....
