[ Welcome home Ray Lycaon ]
A weird robotic sound was heard as a metallic door slid open, in came a brown haired young man walked in. His body was covered head to toe with bruises, On his clothes you could see blood. His name was Ray. You see in this world people were blessed and gifted with abilities that could let them do superhuman feats.
Nowadays it was not unusual to see someone flying to school, or to see a 5 year old sprout wings. The reason Ray had all these bruises was because he had no ability and was often a good target for bullies since he had no way of fighting back. But with these abilities came grave danger to the human race.
Having these abilities served as a beacon to other races from other planets, some of them choose not to act and simply let the human be. Except for one… the Yaks. They were a hostile race that only sought to fight, They had four arms and were almost immune to abilities at level 5. But that did not mean they were invincible… They had one weakness.
Their necks.
If one were to attack the neck, it would heavily damage the Yaks, that was because their hearts were located at that area. With this information humanity was able to fight back and thus began a long war with the humans and Yaks. Back to Ray, he threw his bag on the couch and went into his room.
He sat down on his chair and pulled open his draw where he pulled out a scroll, an ability scroll. You see there are two ways to awaken an ability. One is to awaken naturally if your parents are both ability holders, another was through an ability scroll. Rey's parents were both ability holders that went to the battlefield to fend off the invasion of the Yaks; it was documented that they both had a similar ability.
It was said that his father had an ability that allowed him to shapeshift into a wolf-like beast and that his mother had the ability to strengthen and grow her nails like claws. Sadly they both passed serving in the battlefield leaving their son Ray by himself. Lucky because of their efforts he was given this nice apartment and daily credits for his daily necessities.
When going through his parents' stuff, they found an ability scroll that was left in his fathers storage. Ability scrolls were very expensive and valuable because of the material. When exploring planets home to other races the elfs who allied themselves with the humans gave them a special type of paper that allowed humans to record their abilities and pass it down to later generations.
Although the elfs did not help physically in the war this item proved to be helpful, Ray was surprised the military did not take up an excuse and keep it to themselves when they handed it to him. That is when he realized why… the scroll could not open. Ray had tried many times and many ways to open the scroll but it would not budge, He sighed and mentally thought 'Lets try again.' His nose was still hurt badly so a little drop of blood fell on top of the scroll. Ray was a little panicked but what he saw next surprised him, the scroll began to fly into the sky and soak up the blood of Ray. He was startled and really did not know what was going on until the scroll opened up.
It displayed a few lines of text and suddenly Ray's eyes shone brightly and everything around him went pitch black. He could see his fathers final moments and what he saw made him very angry. He had expected his father to die at the hands of a Yak but what he saw was another human... Stabbing his father.
The memory fades away and so did Rey's vision and the last thing he could see was a strange system-like message.
[ Congratulations for inheriting the w- ]
