Chapter 8 - eight

Pearl's POV

Sia and Mackenzie got off the elevator first after the doors slid opened and just when I walked out of the elevators and was about to take a turn, but I only ended up bumping into something hard, making me stager a little.

I raised my head slowly to see what I had bumped into because I don't remember ever seeing any wall or doors there since I started to work here, and what I saw left me completely breathless...

The person in front of me was dressed in a white hoodie and the hoodie was covering most of his facial features but I didn't miss the bright blue eyes that stared back at me from under the hoodie.

I don't if his eyes had been what held me captive in his gaze, or if it was the mesmerizing facial features that were barely hidden beneath the hoodie, but I was snapped out of my dazed state when he whispered the word...

"Luna," in a guttural voice.

His voice sounded so deep that I couldn't help but cringe when I heard it, however, his voice is not what pulled me out of my dazed state, it was what he said.

"Sorry, who?" I asked because I think he was mistaking me for someone whose name happened to be Luna, I thought to myself, as I watched his face for a while, waiting for him to say something else, but he only murmured a few stuff to himself before getting into the elevator as soon as the doors opened again, and disappearing behind the closed elevator doors.

I watched the closed elevator doors for a moment before walking away while thinking to myself how that felt weird.

I walked into our office space and saw that everyone was looking dull probably because of their hangovers.

"Good morning everyone!" I yelled and they all said a low good morning to me too.

Sam didn't look too bad as the rest though, because I think he only drank a few shots.

I sat on my seat in front of my computer and was checking out the design I made yesterday in case I needed to add in a few more finishing touches before I show it to everyone.

However, when I opened the file, my mind couldn't help but think back to the guy I met at the front of the elevators and what he said.

I couldn't help but wonder why he had just left without saying any more words. I mean if he was really mistaking me for someone, he should have at least apologized, or he should have waited for me to apologize for bumping into him, but he didn't.

"Pearl, how's the design coming up," Sam asked coming over to my desk, and that pulled me out of my zoned out state.

"Just a minute, I'm already done I just need to scan through it for any mistakes," I answered back and then quickly opened the file with the design.

"Okay, don't take too long though, because we need to present it by next weeks Monday for gaining approval," He pointed.

This was the first time I was designing a sneaker from scratch to finish all on my own since I started to work here, and although I was feeling super excited, I still couldn't help but feel a little anxious that it might get rejected because it wasn't good enough.

Hearing Sam remind me of the presentation made me feel a little more anxious and I had to take a deep breath when I was done checking for the mistakes, before turning to inform them that I was done and they could see if it's good enough to be presented to the company's CEO.

"Oh my God, this is amazing, I knew you'd do a great job," Mackenzie gushed the minute she saw the design and the others also gave approving nods.

It was as if their hangovers had left the second they saw the design I made and I was so glad that happened, but I was still not sure if it would receive positive feedback when it gets presented to the new CEO.

The sneaker I had designed was supposed to be suitable for hiking and also comfortable for running so I tried to come up with a great and unique design that would be different from the designs that had been done before, and the normal design pattern followed by other companies who had been designing hike boots for far too long.

"You just need, a great way to present it to the new CEO," Sia said and tapped on my shoulders a little and I felt my shoulders slumped for a moment but then my eyes went round and wide when I realized what she had just said.

"Wait! What?!!" I asked completely alarmed by this new information.

My job was only to design the sneakers and give them to either Sam or Sia to present them, and no one told me otherwise until right now.

"Well, Mr new CEO said the designers should present their works themselves," Sia said and everyone turned to look at her, I'm guessing I'm not the only person who is just finding out about this, and that lead me to wonder where she keeps getting this whole information from since she was the same person who told us about the new CEO.

"Where did you hear that from," someone voiced out my thoughts, it was Sam.

"Yeah where do you keep getting this information," Mackenzie questioned.

However, Sia only remained quiet while everyone gave her a questioning look, and she opened her mouth as if to say something, building up more curiosity from everyone as we all stared at her without blinking and waiting for her to spill the news.

I especially think I'm more curious than anyone else. I was honestly hoping she was going to instantly say she was just trying to make jest of the situation because I honestly do not think I'm ready to present anything to a bunch of strangers who were all probably waiting for me to make a slight mistake so I would end up getting roasted.

We all stared at her and seconds started to feel like minutes before she finally said...
