"Feng Jiao, if you create one more mess for me to deal with, you're fired," a man in a suit yelled. The cigar in his hand left ashes all over his clean mahogany table every time he shook out of anger.
A gust of wind came flying through the window, blowing all of the ashes into Feng Jiao's face. She spluttered as the disgusting grimey bits flew into her mouth. She stuck her tongue so she wouldn't have to taste the pieces she caught, but that only led to more pieces on her tongue.
She turned around a little too late, but at least that prevented her from having to taste the ashes.
Feng Jiao took a tissue from the table and wiped her tongue with a grimace. The man in the suit couldn't help but laugh at her. Her wrinkled up button nose was adorable but it added to the hilarity of the situation.
"It's like eating someone's grandma's ashes." she complained. She spun on her heel to face the man in the suit, "How you smoke that thing, I do not know."
The man in the suit, her boss, looked at the stubborn girl in front of him. He knew very well that none of his plans were going to work. This child was most definitely going to mess things up yet again.
"Please, Jiao, I'm begging you. If you make so much noise while on your missions, I won't be able to support you anymore." the boss pleaded to her without caring for his dignity or image. It was a pitiful sight but to Feng Jiao, it was a weekly thing.
She scratched her forehead before blowing up at her bangs that were entering her nose, "I'm just doing what's necessary." she said in a matter-of-factly tone.
"Was it really necessary to blow the werewolf up in front of all his subordinates after feeding him dynamite!!? Was it really necessary to put up posters advertising fireworks at his final destination before blowing him up!? Think of all the children you've traumatized!" yelled the boss.
Feng Jiao played with one of her ponytails before looking back at the boss hesitantly.
"Probably not…" she slowly and carefully drawled, "But the kids enjoyed it! I promise! They were all clapping. There was no blood or guts anyway- The explosion was just a little loud, but it did look like a firework!" she rushed through the second half of her sentence as fast as she could speak.
Which was very very fast. The boss could barely make out what it was that she was saying.
"Look. I'm cutting off your access to the weapons section. The firework bombs were meant to be used to disguise the death, not to make a public spectacle of it."
Feng Jiao groaned and imitated his talking as she left the room. She didn't bother turning back at the boss as she left. She had nothing to say to him anyway.
The brightly lit, overtly sanitary halls, endlessly stretched out in both directions. To Feng Jiao's relief, the halls were empty.
As soon as she left the room she turned right and left to see if anyone had heard the boss's order. There was no one there. No one to stop her from raiding the weapon's section.
She skipped all the way to the locked off chamber in the basement and dug through the piles of grenades. As she tried to find ones she liked, she threw the ones she didn't want over her shoulder and onto the floor, without looking back.
One of the grenades rolled out and landed at the foot of a passerby, who picked it up and walked into the room, only to catch Feng Jiao doing her daily suspicious activities.
Last time it was inspecting the pee samples to vandalize the boss's table. The time before that it was scooping out the goldfishes in the tank and throwing them at the boss as he entered. This time too, it was definitely something the boss would regret.
"Feng Jiao?" whispered the woman as she tapped on Feng Jiao's shoulder. Feng Jiao jumped at the shock of being touched when she thought she was alone, and fell back onto her butt, "I thought the boss said you can't have any weapons?"
Her mild voice seemed to be doubtful of what she had heard, so Feng Jiao tried her best to play it off.
She pulled her ponytail under her nose and laughed suspiciously, "This is not Feng Jiao. I am a man." she said in a faked gruff voice.
The woman looked at Feng Jiao as if she was absolutely dumb.
"Jiao Jiao, did the boss say you're not allowed to come in here or not?" all the hesitation in her voice was gone, now filled with resolution and a slight tinge of anger.
"Xiulan~! Where have you been!?" Feng Jiao dropped her ponytail as if she hadn't been pretending it was a mustache at all, and threw herself into Kong Xiulan's arms.
"Answer the question Jiao Jiao."
Feng Jiao shifted her eyes around suspiciously before they finally settled down at Kong Xiulan's feet. She sniffed a little and then finally answered. "Yes… He said I'm not allowed in here." she said desolately.
She was hopeless at lying. She knew she couldn't outsmart Kong Xiulan, who was a researcher at the agency, with her terrible lying. The only way out was to run.
Feng Jiao picked up the bag she had stuffed with firework bombs and sprinted out of the room at a speed that no researcher could hope to match.
She was the number one werewolf hunter of the entire agency. Of course she was going to be faster than any researcher that sat at their desk all day. Her agility and reflexes were why she was hired to begin with.
Feng Jiao kicked the front door of the building open and sprinted out onto the road. Once she knew she was out of the range they could catch her in, she turned and made faces at Kong Xiulan who was huffing and puffing.
She was childish but who was going to stop her.
As if answering Kong Xiulan's prayer for someone to stop Feng Jiao, a car came at full speed and crashed into Feng Jiao. The thud was loud, and the men in the car came rushing out to see what they had hit.
Feng Jiao fell to the ground dramatically.
She had been stopped.
