There wasn't even a peep coming from inside the room. Ruby waited patiently for almost half an hour, but she was dejected in the end.
Ruby coaxed in a low voice, "I will leave it in the refrigerator okay?"
"You must remember to brush your teeth after eating."
"And don't drink cold water in the middle of the night, alright?"
Ruby chattered on and on about what to do and not to do. Until she finally finished it with a little funny threat, "I won't keep watch, but if you don't listen to me then you won't get any sweets for a week!"
With that, she left while stomping grumpily on the floor. As if announcing how annoyed she is.
The atmosphere became quiet and tranquil. Sounds of raindrops faintly float into the room. Making the usually bright color tuned down a bit, bringing a sense of melancholy.
Ruby lay on the bed with eyes wide open, yawning lazily. Even without putting much effort, she could hear little footsteps tapping around the house.
They ran back and forth from the kitchen to the bedroom. Sneakily moving slowly when they passed by her room. Though for Ruby who had a great hearing, it was nothing.
When the noise calmed down, Ruby got out and went to check on them.
She still stopped in front of the door. She didn't want to breach their precious privacy.
"I have something to say tomorrow. So, be good Noah, Oliver."
Despite the strict tone, the twins could grasp the soft and kind sound of her voice. They didn't feel repulsed. Obediently nodded behind the closed door.
Ruby climbed back to her bed before practically going offline. Too much drama happened in a day. She really missed a good night's sleep.
The next day the sun didn't shy away anymore, it stood confidently and shine so bright that it pierced through the curtains of Ruby's bedroom. While Ruby kept groaning in protest, the twins were already waiting for her. They sat in front of the TV watching cartoons.
"Hmmm."
Not long after Ruby gathered herself together, she declared, "I want to work in the entertainment industry."
She paused, before going on saying, "Acting."
Oliver frowned, contemplating whether she had the ability to. "Can you act?"
"Well, obviously. It's doable."
Oliver's lips twitched. "Doable? Are you for real? Can you do it or not?"
Ruby knocked on his hair lightly which got slapped by Oliver in a flash. "You just have to watch and learn."
He was dissatisfied hearing her prideful tone. "Why should I learn it?"
"Who knows?" Ruby mysteriously teased him. Her eyebrows danced along with her slightly raised lips.
Oliver humped and turn around haughtily, "I'm sorry but I can't imagine I will learn something from you."
Ruby laughed while looking at the cute little Oliver. She deliberately frightened him, "Wow. You shouldn't say such things so early. There's karma going after you."
"In your dreams." He snorted, however, his fingers curled a bit.
Noah on the other side, watched them bickering with a cool face. Noah's only concern was about his and Oliver's life.
He interjected their measly fight, "It must be hard for you to be known as a mother?"
Ruby squinted her eyes.
She praised him, "You are right."
In fact, she was afraid of Vega, not the media or even her soon-to-be fans. She couldn't underestimate Vega.
Noah calmly agreed, "It's alright. We won't tell a soul."
"It would be a disadvantage for us too."
It wouldn't make a difference at this point. They are not her real sons and it was expected of her to prioritize her job rather than their feelings. There was also a consideration for being recognized. The twins also didn't wish to be found by Crystal or even his biological father for the time being.
Seeing that the twins didn't have any problem, Ruby heaved a sigh.
"Ah, I almost forget. I'm sending you to school."
Noah and Oliver stiffened. Their complexion hardened. Both of them gawked at Ruby in disbelief and a rare look of loss.
Noah's calm face twitched. The corner of his lips slammed down and tightly shut. Meanwhile, Oliver lowered his head in silence.
Ruby hadn't had the time to ponder about their reaction as she got a call from Guy. She slapped her forehead and ran to grab her keys.
She shouted in a rush, "I will be back soon!"
Afterward, she hurried over to the company under the bodyguards' escort.
Ruby: "...."
I'm not used to this.
