On the other side, Ruby hold her shame and waited for the answer. Nervousness welled up inside her. In her heart, she knew she was being irrational.
She was the one who pushed everyone but she was also the one who stretches her hand up for help. It was all her.
However, would she know days like this will come?
In the beginning, this world gave birth to thousands of thousand ways and create myriad path that was different from one another. She was simply on the wrong road, taking a break, and looked back.
Did she make the right choice?
But, Oh, did she know she will turn back and start over again?
Ruby was in a dilemma. She kept questioning herself over the right choice.
She wasn't confident. She was well aware of the high risk of failure she was about to face.
Ruby wasn't a special human. She didn't have the privilege of a god to stop the ticking time.
She could only brace herself.
Don't avoid the struggles and pain.
Don't run from the problems.
You have to face it.
Shameful as it is, what ability do you have to shirk from that path?
She listened to Guy's voice amiably. She took the position of the humble one.
It's okay. She can take it.
Thereafter, Ruby explained all the stories so far, while reminding him to keep it in mind how important this issue is for her.
Although Guy was shocked by the sudden crazy idea about the whole matter, he can only do as she says. Guy too needed to stay in Ruby's good book.
Each of them had their own purposes, however, they were willing to cooperate.
Ruby ended the conversation in a slightly heavy heart. She felt stuffy and frustrated. It was like she was defeated by her own imagination that she could live without the help of Heather's family which turned out to be a delirious imagination of a drunkard.
It dawned on her, she had barely been able to stand using the money on her bank account, in fact in this world, she was nothing at all.
She was an ant who claimed to fly at the blue sky, crashing through clouds, sliding down the rainbow.
Insane.
Dreaming for things that were out of reach.
Powerless as the heavens could crush her on a whim.
She deeply reflected on her mistakes. Her hazy eyes fell on the twins who had been spectating from the side.
They were sensitive children, they could grasp the strangeness of Ruby's condition. Though they were as blank as a sheet of paper, it was as if they could see numerous emotions blending and turning into a variety of colors inside Ruby.
The misty eyes disappeared bit by bit, returning back to the clear, bright eyes Ruby used to show them. They didn't know the viciousness of her battle against her own thought before rearranging the thought process she had carefully entangled.
A faint smile with more sincerity was beautifully plastered on her face.
Under the blazing sunlight accompanied by the light breeze and the falling dried leaves brushing softly to their skin, her smile tickled the corner of Nine and Ten's hearts.
Tapping on the door of their hidden, treasured place.
They gaped for a moment from the overstimulation of the sweet refreshing flavor presented by Ruby.
They had the urge to savor it slowly and cradle it in their embrace.
Ruby's voice filled the warm surroundings enveloping them.
"Let's go."
It was the first-ever smooth leap they took in history full of anguished.
The future was long.
The curtains were drawn and their life was officially on the run!
Dear Ruby.
Our precious stepmother.
Let's get along
