Chapter 25 - The Blind Girl's Skill

Time passed and finally, the tournament was about to start. The man Ty Lin was looking for slowly walked out onto a platform overlooking the Earth Rumble arena.

He began by welcoming everyone and under the illumination of the green hanging crystals, the rectangle-shaped Earth Rumble Arena received its first fighter; the current 'Champion' The Blind Bandit.

After the introduction, Ty Lin's curious eyes landed on the little girl on the left side (from where she was sitting) of the arena who was facing her approaching opponent.

She looked calm and composed like this was all a simple game, that look was very familiar to Ty Lin....she's seen it on many masters who trained or spared with her at the academy.

Speechless, she looked at the white eyes of The Blind Bandit and her movements...' yes, she indeed seems to be blind....' However, after careful observation, she noticed the peculiarity of this girl's actions...

Although Ty Lin was originally a dense girl, Chastain Grey took over and inherited all of Ty Lin's talent while retaining her own intellect. Ty Lin now possesses keen observation and deduction skills, and with them, she clearly saw the little girl sliding her feet across the ground creating friction every so often. Moreover, she would tap her toes in rhythm before "locking on" to the approaching opponent...it didn't take a genius to connect these dots.

'Must be some kind of earthbending technique.....how interesting, maybe one day I'll be able to experience bending the elements...'

During her inner monologue, off to the side is the young conical hat-wearing boy who seemed to have solved something and his eyes lit up with unprecedented enthusiasm...

...........

As the matches progressed The Blind Bandits' mastery was put on full display as she swept all of her opponents off the arena quickly and simply.

She defeated 'The Boulder' in an extremely comical way which made Sokka deflate while the boy, whom I now knew to be Aang (though eavesdropping on Kataras conversation), kept mumbling something about waiting and listening with his eyes glued to The Blind Bandit.

After all the fighters were eliminated, my informant walked onto the high platform once more and offered a huge bag of money to whoever could knock that girl off the winner's pedestal.

Aang jumped up and volunteered and made his way down to the arena. 'Strange, he doesn't seem to have the temperament of an earthbender...'

After watching the battle between Aang and The Blind Bandit I have an awfully strong taste of fish in my mouth, with the fishy-fragrance wafting out between my teeth and flowing into my own nose resulting in me smelling something VERY fishy.

I didn't care to ask though as Sokka and his group rushed out chasing The Blind Bandit. I gathered, through eavesdropping, that Aang is looking for an earthbending teacher but none of this mattered to me as I simply slipped the cutie a note and told him to meet me at Ba Sing Se if he ever goes there, I plan on heading that way after I gather some intel from Xin Fu.

After months of traveling and intel gathering, I know for certain that I'm on the wrong side of this war and the last strongholds that hold strong against the fire nation are Omashu, The Capital, and the Northern Water Tribe. 'Maybe after going there I can make a difference in this war...'
