Within the lobby of the Gate of Worlds located at the center of the great city of Altissia, was a little plump man who looked to be about twenty years of age. He watched as the new group of fifty beta testers (that Mr. Oscars allowed to enter his multiverse) was gawking around and speaking with the Seraphs.
He snorted in annoyance and, with the air of an experienced elder, turned his nose at the new Travelers. Such a mindset is not unique to him since those who have experienced The Four Nations and came back (like him) have been through hell...some have fought in the war, some had been fleet captains raiding "The Northern Water Tribe", one guy said he was a 'foaming at the mouth' weirdo located on "Kyoshi's Island" before slipping and falling off a cliff to his death.
In short, they were experienced Travelers who saw themselves as superior and thus deemed themselves "Divers".
The term came about after the first new group of fifty beta testers was allowed in after the first few "Divers" died. After the streams, videos, and stories of the Divers, some of the Beta Testers were scared off and were bent on leaving Mr. Oscar's world...well, that was until they found the entertainment district.
After discovering that small slice of heaven, they chose to stay in Altissia and rent while finding whole new ways to make money without "Diving" into The Four Nations or any other of Mr. Oscar's worlds.
Some became streamers who played games exclusive to Altissia such as Plants Vs. Zombies, or other games in the arcade. Some people became culinary streamers or bloggers trying all of the unique food found in the district...etc.....etc...
These people "lazed around" and (based on what the Divers thought) took advantage of the Divers doing their thing. For example, they would place a bet on the Diver fights in Heaven's Arena using Raven Coins they've received from odd jobs and then, using their winnings from the bet, would buy items from The Four Nations that Divers sold to them (since they can't get it from the pavilion themselves).
Simply put, they were able to participate in this whole new economy and life without any risk. Thus, a clear distinction between Divers and simple Travelers was made and a hierarchy was formed.
......
One of such Divers was the plump man now standing in the lobby hoping for a Diver to come out of the tele pad so that he can work as a 'guide' or 'gofer' (go fer this...go fer that) to explain the current situation in Altissia and news, or be a pack mule...
This is a standard job for Travelers who do not want to be Divers to get their first handful of Raven Coins, or for Divers like himself who lost all of their money on betting but don't want to go back into The Four Nations right now...
