Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: Alpha

Inside the pitch-black deep narrow hole, where the only noise that resonating in the small area was the deafening sound of silence.

The pristine light coming from the slowly emerging Small lesser nature spirit lit up the small the dark area.

His formerly virtually obliterated body was healed and now good as new. He remained silent for a few moments as he assessed his body condition.

"I see, I really did survive. I really thought I was a goner. That Gaia centipede was scary as hell. She was really into killing me."

"How long did I sleep this time?"

"I've acquired two valuable skills in my arsenal."

"Hmmm."

"Uhm... I think there is something wrong with my life timer. Did I really sleep for the whole 15 days?"

[Correct.]

"Don't 'correct' me! What happened? Were the injuries I took really that bad?"

[Yes.]

[Your entire body was devastated to the point that repairing it was already an almost impossible task.]

"I... I see, my bad." He floated upward until he reached the hole that he used to escape from the Gaia centipede.

After reaching the top he positioned himself right at the entrance and fired multiple Nature's blessings at the entrance of the hole.

He sounded a huge sigh.

"So, this is what a wanted person feels like. She's very angry at me and I don't think she will stop chasing me sooner, not until she sees me dead."

He started to move deeper into the hole. "As much I don't want a gigantic centipede creeping around me, I need to be more careful because I don't know when she would show up again."

"Just thinking about that gigantic monster sends a shiver down my spine, even though I don't have one." He shook his body.

"I only have 9 days left. Thanks to that Gaia centipede that is why, I need to level up faster, and I already have the perfect target in mind."

His voice was full of determination while floating towards the deeper part of the hole that seemed like a miniature cave system that only he could fit.

At one of the cave systems, a certain pack of Cave wolves was patrolling the area. Cave wolves were a social race that almost always belongs in a pack.

A pack consists of Cave wolves under the leadership of their alpha male Cave wolf.

Every time an Alpha male Cave wolf died or evolved and finally left the pack, the second strongest in the pack will take the former alpha male's place as the pack's new alpha male.

However, not all Cave wolves belong in a pack, that certain type of Cave wolves was called the sigma wolves.

At this moment they were roaming to hunt. The pack was consists of 15 Cave wolves. 5 level 2 Cave wolves which were the weakest of the pack, 6 level 4 the ones in the middle of the hierarchy, 2 level 5 as next to the line of the future alpha male and alpha female, the level 6 alpha female, and the level 7 alpha male as the strongest in the pack.

They were swiftly and silently moving while searching for any signs of prey. They scattered around the system, but just far enough so their alpha male could still see them.

With great leadership and pack members coordination, they could be a powerful unit.

The strongest ones were on the edges of the formation while the youngest and weakest were with the alpha male and alpha female. For now, they were still not allowed to go far, not until they were strong enough.

The cry came from one of the members of the pack echoed throughout the area. The alpha male quickly moved to check out on it and left the alpha female behind.

Two of the members of the pack were lying on the ground, one of them got his head burned down.

But the culprit was could not be seen. The only thing that the alpha male saw was a small white light slowly floating in the direction where the alpha male came from.

However, the Cave wolves were proud creatures. The alpha male did not even assume that by any chance, the small white light did it. Such a weak creature would never be part of their concerns.

The alpha male used its strong sense of smell to find the culprit but the alpha male could not find anything.

For few minutes, the alpha male patrolled around the area where the Cave wolves were killed.

However, the alpha male found nothing.

The cry of one of the cave wolves resounded to the area and with great speed, the alpha male went where the cry came from.

What greeted the alpha male was the alpha female lying on the ground with a trace of smoke coming out from its mouth. Next to the female alpha were the corpses of the 5 youngest and weakest members of the pack.

However, the cry earlier was not from the alpha female or the young Cave wolves that lying on the ground next to her.

The alpha male howled and 4 of the Cave wolves came in response to the call. But, there should be at least 6 members still left, excluding the alpha male.

A sudden magic attack materialized right above them.

Multiple barrages of different types of magic were unleashed at them coming from above, the attacks showed up out of thin air and almost instantly eliminated another two of them.

The remaining two of the members of the pack tried to locate the enemy by looking upward, but a combination of water and thunder magic finished them off leaving only the alpha male alone.

The alpha male howled out of rage, but the response that the alpha male received was the wave of panicking bats flying over him. Such an unusual scene to see a colony of Cave bats fleeing for their lives, and this scenario means only one thing.

A terrifying rustling noise resounded near the alpha male, and the very last thing the leader of a former pack saw was the horrifying pincers of Gaia centipede before cutting his head in half.

The head of the alpha male rolled next to the corpses of his former subordinates.

The Gaia centipede quickly rushed to the wall of the cave and seemed to be looking for something, it tried to thrust one of its legs into one of the holes, but the Gaia centipede got nothing.

A powerful roar echoed throughout the area coming from the Gaia centipede, after a few minutes of attacking the unbreakable hole the Gaia centipede left capturing nothing.
