Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

"Mama!"

cried Hanie as she watched her mama tumble down the flight of stairs to land in a heap at the bottom. Grimacing at the pain, Sara shifted her legs slightly and tried to raise her right arm but failed.

"Oww, ah, baby help mama call uncle Dylan, please." Sara task her crying girl to call for assistance, slowly Hanie step down the stairs towards her Mama backpack and look for a phone.

They're both were ready for bedtime when Dylan called to informed her about Stefan's car accident and currently in emergency.

Panic, Sara quickly changes her and Hanie pajamas wear and readied to leave. Unfortunately, the elevator broke down and she had to get down by staircase from fifth floor. But in a moment of panic, Sara trips on one of the steps and stumbled down leaving the girl behind terrified.

"Hello, uncle Dylan." voices of Hanie crying on the phone sparks worried on Dylan side.

"Hanie, why are you crying? What happened?"

"Mama fall down the stairs. Uncle, help Hanie." Sara then motioned her girl to look for loudspeaker icon and she did so by pressing it.

"Dylan, I fell down the stairs and I can't move my leg, I think my wrist is broken. I'm sorry but I don't know who to call." Sara spoke while holding on to the pain.

"No, don't say that. Okay, I need you to relax. You don't know how serious it is. I will call Minho and Hailey, so try not to move before they get to your place, okay?" Dylan said.

When they finally arrived at the hospital drop off point, Hailey quickly assists her best friend to be seated on a wheelchair while Hanie already jog on their front. She leads them towards the emergency department while Minho drove to parked the vehicle.

Sara felt a strong feeling of pressure build up in her chest, tears streamed down her face not bothering to wipe them away. What she was saying earlier? "I forgive you, but I still hate you, Stefan."

Her mind was reeling at hundred miles per second. Why was she weeping? Stefan was the one who leaves her in the past. Her shock soon subsided, yet she did not find pain as she had expected, she found only anger and fear towards herself.

Her mind was screaming, 'Why is this happening to us?!'

Is it true that Stefan has sincerely change for the better? She thought fiercely.

"Sara." Dylan headed towards Hailey and Sara who is coming to his direction. He grasps Sara hand in which Sara hold onto his arms to stand upright. "You good? You should go check up on your legs and your wrist, oh my God, Sara, your wrist, it's swollen." Dylan and Hailey looking a little worried.

"Later, tell me how is he? Where is Stefan?" Sara being stubborn, despite she herself in pain, she just couldn't wait to know what had happened to Stefan, the father of her precious girl who is in the arms of Minho, who is now trying to consoled the sobbing child.

"Listen. Surgeons say that he is in critical condition and is currently undergoing surgery, and due to the impact of the crash, his liver is damage and needs transplant as soon as possible."

Sara dropped her eyes to stare at the cold marble floor, she was loss for words. "Can I donate my liver to him?" It took a moment for the words to sink in, but what Dylan about to say next, may or may not make Sara hated him.

"No, Sara, you're injured. I myself willing to do it but due to the recent bone marrow transplant, they refused me. Surgeons say Stefan would die without a liver transplant, he needs it urgently and, Tiffany, she was the quickest and ideal donor. So, I called her. I can't think of anything else but my only brother to be out from the operating room, alive."

His statement makes Sara frozen. She removes Dylan strong grips on her elbow, her face screwed up in heart-wrenching misery. She felt her breathing freezing on the spot before she drops to the ground.

"Oh my God, Sara! We need to get her check." Hailey screamed for help when she tried to hold her best friend body from the cold floor.

Seven days later, Stefan gains his consciousness, he felt like he was dying. He was lying in a hospital bed and he thought Sara should be there next to him, holding his hand and not Tiffany.

He pulled his hand away and removed the oxygen mask on him, making Tiffany woken up from her sleep. "Stefan, my love. You're awake." She said with a sweet smile. She tied her hair back and was about to sit on the bed with the man she loves when the latter stopped him.

"Sara, where is she?" Stefan asked as he hastily remove his blanket on his waist.

"Oh no, love, what do you think you are doing? You need rest!"

Stefan managed to wrestle himself upright and swing his feet off the bed, but that was as far as he got. Fire burned his lungs and suddenly he couldn't breathe. A coughing fit nearly doubled him over, and if Minho hadn't been there to catch him, he would have fallen off the bed.

"Dude, you nearly died and you still could. You aren't nearly recovered. You could relapse any minute now. Where are you going to?"

Stefan wrapped his fingers around Minho upper arms, holding to him until he could draw a breath. He was pretty sure that he might suffocate if he went too long without the oxygen but, he's oh so stubborn just like Sara.

Once he got himself under control, he looked up at Minho who was trying desperately to push him back onto the bed. "Minho, I have to get to Sara. She needs me. She needs to know that I'm fine and that it's okay to keep on living."

Minho blinked at him and something painful spiked through his heart. There was a bond between the two of them. They needed each other, needed to know that the other was safe and healthy, as if their own life hinged on the other's wellbeing. He knew he cannot stop Stefan, so he did help the male headed towards the hallway.

There he saw Sara, white plaster cast on her fractured ankle and a splint on her sprained wrist, seated on a wheelchair and her head resting on a neck support cushion. Relieved to see that Hanie was sleeping in her stroller accompanied by Hailey.

He struggled to walk by slowly with Minho's help. Already he could see Sara puffy cheeks and swollen eyes. He didn't have the strength to hold himself upright so he kneels down on the floor, looking up at Sara's pale face and whispered softly. "Hey, my sweetheart, I'm here."

Sara woke up in panic mode and she was surprised. Stefan was in front of her. Somehow to make sure it's not a dream, she cupped Stefan's face, she touches his eyes, nose and Stefan's lips. Feverish tears leaked from her eyes, both still remained silent until Stefan pulled him into a tight hug. He held Sara tightly.

"I'm sorry, Stefan. I'm so sorry for hurting you the way I did. I love you too. You hear me? I love you." Sara spoke softly, almost barely a whisper.

"No, Sara, please baby, it's not your fault at all. It's me, the mistake I did was too cruel. Sara, I want to make up for the past years of treating you so poorly. I hope you can forgive me. I promise to make you the happiest person that ever lived."

Her eyes sightlessly glaring at the ceiling as an agonizing scream ripped from her throat. The howl echoed down the halls, ricocheting off the sickly grey walls. Luckily, no one heard or alarmed because of her annoying screaming.

She quickly dialed an important number on her phone. Shivering, waiting for the calls to be answered. "Hello, papa? Help me, please, quicken the deal and proceed as soon as possible, please. I can't wait any longer, papa..."

Sniffling as revenge rises. "This isn't over, Sara. You better watch out."
