Chapter 8 - Skeleton warrior

Out in the real world, an orc with weird unreadable marking stared into the mind of the child and said "Let's see what the legendary Guardian will do with a monster ranked higher than him. Can he really kill monsters ranked higher than him as said in the myths and legends?"

The ugly orc couldn't help but smirk. If the child dies through brain death, a new experiment is waiting for him. Just thinking about it, he couldn't help but lick his lips and feel wet.

He continued looking at the screen before zooming into his orb and staring into the guardian's mind. Adam's breathing became slow and calm as he calms himself and analyses his current foe. The skeleton's definitely had a defense stat greater than his, so fighting head on would be impossible, especially when he was bare handed and had no weapon that could provide . As he reasoned within his mind on either fighting the skeleton or running away, his heart began to beat faster, his blood pumping through his body as though it was threatening him to burst his veins, and his mind being filled with the delight of adrenalin that now coursed through his entire body, allowing his body to go beyond his original boundaries, elevating him to a temporary rank 2.

He knew it would be almost impossible to win, but his instinct moved his body and forced his hands to throw his rock tightly. 'Let's do this!' he thought as he rushed towards the skeleton, letting out a feral howl. He threw his rock with all his might, splintering the skeleton soldier's barren skull with a sickening crack.

The skeleton stumbled from the force of the blow, opening an opportunity that would be perfect for Adam to take advantage of. While the skeleton was still off-balance, Adam leaped into the air, using all his weight to kick the skeleton to the ground. Adam quickly coated his hands within a thick layer of magic hardening while no longer while no longer with holding his aura and burst it in order to confuse the skeleton.

After falling, the skeleton was barraged within a flurry of Adam's punches, each one echoing along the sound of bone snapping throughout the room. As the skeleton attempted to take retribution and stand up, Adam used all of his mana to make a gauntlet and jumped high before using the force of gravity and an extended arm to try and crack the skeleton's head, allowing the Kijin to quickly unleash another round of blows upon the fallen victim.

A cold sensation shot through Adam's spine. Adam reflexively jumped back as far as it could as the wind from the blade of the skeleton's wild swing sliced through the air at a hair's breadth away from Adam's flesh. The Kijin had sensed that he was weak, but even after landing several powerful blows which caused his hands to tingle from numbness, the soldier was still alive.

The skeleton was now coated with dirt from the floor where it had been lying and cracks had formed on the left side of the skeleton's head where the rock had hit it. Several pieces of the skull had fallen onto the floor from being struck by Adam's fists.

The skeleton soldier found its way to its feet and staggered its way towards Adam. Adam quickly backed away from the creature, hoping for another opening to start attacking, only to see any openings, but he is bound to make a mistake sooner or later. As the skeleton lifted his blade into the air, Adam seized the opportunity to rush at the skeleton, disrupting its swing and disarming the skeleton.

The iron sword crashed heavily against the stone, echoing loudly onto the corridors. Adam kicked at the inside of the skeleton's knee with all his might, trying to force the skeleton to kneel, but To his surprise, instead of feeling the resistance of the skeleton soldier's bones, his foot pressed against the joint, causing the lower leg to become dislodged from the upper leg.

The skeleton once again fell to the ground, Adam raced towards the skeleton's skull and stomped as hard as he possibly could onto the rank 3 creature's skull. With another dry crack, the skull gave way to the Kijin's foot, crushing the skeleton's forehead. After confirming that the skeleton was really dead, he finally falls onto the ground, the adrenalin in his body returning back and getting flushed out, forcing him to get weaker.

Suddenly, a golden yellow orb rose from the skeleton's body as Adam drags himself to the orb abd grabs it without hesitation.

"Please show me my status and the genome as well"
