Chereads / Burn Me (Bakugo x Reader) / Chapter 68 - Chapter Sixty Seven

Chapter 68 - Chapter Sixty Seven

Two hours strolled on by, you continued to lay on your bed, millions of questions floating around. Have you been too harsh with your classmates? They were just concerned about your wellbeing, right?

Your thoughts were interrupted by a loud hissing sound, followed by a wail of pain then the lights flickered out.

"S-Sorry!" Kaminari called.

"Are you kidding!?" You heard people protest.

"Are you trying to eat the electricity from the wall again!?"

You instantly had your phone's flashlight, trying to turn anything in your room on but failed. You took a deep breath walking over to your bed you sat with your back against the wall flopping your phone on its back. Looks like another night in complete darkness.

The thought of going across to Bakugo's dorm crossed your mind. But the feeling of him laughing and slamming the door in your face kept you in bed. You would be fine if your cell phone didn't die, which was only forty-seven percent...you realized you needed to get better at remembering to charge your phone.

Your door opened just then; Bakugo appeared to be annoyed searching the room until his scarlet eyes locked onto you.

"Come on."

"What?"

"You wanna stay in here alone in the dark!?"

"Well..."

"Whatever, do whatever you want!" Bakugo locked his jaw, feeling the sting of rejection about to storm out of the room you slowly got up from the bed. Without words spoken, you walked past him and right into his room. Bakugo held wide eyes for a moment, in shock watching you climbed into his bed and pulled the covers over you.

Bakugo closed and locked his door before climbing into bed without speaking a word. You laid on your back staring up at the ceiling, your heart was racing with the feeling of him so close. More tedious questions arose, why did he come get you? He didn't hold feelings for you, then again...he did say you two were friends...whatever that meant...

"I think you're doing the right thing." Bakugo spoke out of the blue, you turned laying on your side to face him.

"You do?"

"Yeah." He copied your motion, laying on his side facing you.

"You guys didn't make it seem like it." You muttered.

"Those morons are just worried about you." Bakugo scoffed, rolling his eyes. "It's not always easy doing the right thing, most of the time it's terrifying. But I'm proud of you, or whatever." You smiled, "Get that stupid grin off your face!" Bakugo snapped.

"Thanks B."

"Whatever, go to bed." He scowled. "If you need someone to go with you, I'll be your back up."

"Aizawa already said no one could come, the prison is already unhappy with the four of us going...but I do appreciate it."

"What four?"

"Aizawa, All Might, me and Mr. Principle."

"Hm." He grunted in response, he was annoyed he wouldn't be allowed to go, but relieved to hear two of the best pro-heroes he knows would be by your side.

Three long days the dorms were without power.

Kaminari fried the wiring, the construction company had to come out and replace it all. Each night Bakugo came into your room and dragged you into his so you wouldn't be alone in the dark.

"You good?" Bakugo asked, it was the middle of the night, but sleep didn't find you.

"Yeah." You lied.

"Don't lie to me." Bakugo sharply replied.

"I just..." You breathed, "...can't sleep."

"Do you want to talk about any of it?"

"About what?"

"About the things keeping you awake." Bakugo replied, turning his head to look at you.

"I... I don't think I can."

"It's ok-" Bakugo said after a moment, "-to fear facing him again."

"I don't know how I feel."

"It's ok to be angry too." Bakugo replied.

"I think if I face him again..." You tested the waters, hearing how unsteady your voice was. "...I will be reminded how ugly this world is and-"

"Hey-" Bakugo gripped your side, pulling you into him. His arm heavily wrapped around your waist holding you against him, keeping your mind from floating away. "-this world isn't all ugly, yeah it has it's bad parts but what doesn't? When you face that bastard, you're not going to backtrack-"

"How can you be so sure?"

"Because I won't let you." Bakugo smirked, "I'll show you this world can still be beautiful."

"How?"

Bakugo lifted his hand, after a second you could hear crackling you lightly gasped watching the small, controlled explosions inside the palm of his hand. The bright sunset colors glowed inside the dark room, pushing the darkness back from swallowing you whole.

"They're so pretty." You breathed, leaning your head against Bakugo's shoulders watching the small firework display in his hand.

"If you want, I can talk to the teachers, get them to let me go with you so I can be there."

"You would miss the sports festival?"

"I'll always be your back up."

----

On the fourth night, the power flicked on. Your class cheered in excitement, but that night Bakugo didn't come to your room. You struggled to fall asleep feeling like your own bed was a cold foreign space unknown to you.

Across the wall, Bakugo had the same issue with sleeping alone after having you beside him the previous four nights. The next day he held dark bags under his eyes and was a new level of cranky.

"As you may know-" Aizawa spoke to the class, "-this weekend coming up is a holiday, you are all expected to return to your families and spend some time with them. We will not have class on Monday, but you can return to the dorms Monday if you so wish."

"It's not even a real holiday." Mineta mumbled to himself as the class was excused.

"I have to pee, too much water!" Mina jumped up, quickly gathering her items. "I'll see you guys' next class!?"

"Yeah." You chuckled, watching her and Asui scramble to the bathrooms. Bakugo got up without saying a word, each step was like he was stomping out of the classroom.

"Why is he so crabby today?" Sero whispered to Kaminari.

"No idea."

You stood from your desk, grabbing your bag, and you noticed one of Bakugo's notebooks had been left behind. Maybe if he wasn't in such a rush, he wouldn't have left it behind. You picked it up, but something fell from between the sheets. You furrowed your brows, seeing the familiar white piece of paper. Quickly picking it up you exited the room.

"Hey." You called, finding Bakugo in his locker. His tired eyes trailed over to you, again he didn't say a word. You offered his notebook. "You left this."

"Tsk." He responded.

"Why do you still have this?" You asked, holding the piece of paper holding Kage's number between your fingers.

"Where did you—did you go through my stuff!?"

"Don't flatter yourself-" You rolled your eyes, "-it fell out when I picked up your shit. Why do you still-"

"Why do you fucking care!?" Bakugo snapped, glaring at you. For a moment you didn't recognize this person.

"Did you take it from me because you were jealous-?"

"Why the fuck would I be jealous of some lame ass extra!?" Bakugo slammed his locker shut. "You wanna fuck around with the trash go for it."

"But why did you take it in the first place?"

"I already fucking told you!"

"You didn't though!" You pushed back. "You have yet to even answer why you did what you did during the exercise with-"

"You're seriously back on this?" Bakugo tossed his bag over his shoulder. "You think I wanted to give your ugly ass a bunch of hickies!? I had to come save your ass again, it's getting really fucking annoying. I can see why you were discarded inside that machine, since your so fucking useless-"

Your eyes were wide, hearing all of Bakugo's words made your heart shriveled into a tiny ball and curl up inside your gut. You pulled your emotions back inside their small little box, you swallowed back your pain as you shoved the notebook against B's chest.

"Fuck you, Bakugo." You spat, turning on your heel you walked away. You hated how your chest felt so tight it wanted to burst open, how your stomach was sour. You went so long without emotions why couldn't you just press them away like you use to do!?

You walked into the bathroom, the desperate need to be alone was almost drowning. You investigated the mirror over the sink as you bit your bottom lip.

"You think I wanted to give your ugly ass-"

Bakugo's voice echoed inside your head. You never thought before how you appeared to the opposite sex. You scratched your neck, quickly jumping at the sound of a toilet flushing.

"(y/n)?" Mina asked walking out of a stall.

"What are you doing here?" You asked.

"I was about to ask you the same thing." Mina giggled, moving to wash her hands. "Breakfast did not sit well with me."

"Ah." You responded, looking back to the mirror.

"You, ok?" Mina asked, seeing the heavy look on your face. "Is it about going to the-"

"No." You shook your head, "We are friends...right?"

"How many times do I have to tell you this!?" Mina laughed, walking over placing both her hands on your shoulders. "We are best friends, so tell me what has you so down."

"Do you think...I'm ugly?" You asked, instantly feeling foolish. You were a trained killer, petty things like your appearance felt trivial.

"What!?" Mina laughed, "Of course not, (y/n) you're fucking gorgeous! Why? Who the hell made you wonder this!?"

"N-Nothing." You waved.

"(y/n)-" Mina frowned; "-friends don't keep secrets from each other."

"I-It's really nothing-" You scratched your face. "-it's just something Bakugo said-" Mina instantly noticed how you called him by his full name.

"What happened between you two?" Mina wondered.

"He just...said something."

"You know-" Mina crossed her arms, "-I have noticed nothing seems to bother you, except him."

"What?" You nervously laughed. "N-No-"

"Yeah-" Mina nodded, "-he is the only thing that seems to get under your skin, why is that?"

"He-He doesn't."

"Oh my God!" Mina gasped, "You like him!"

"Wh-What?" You brushed off, "I-I don't-"

"You do!" Mina's mouth hung open. "I mean I get he is attractive, but he is such an asshole!"

"He isn't that bad..." ...sometimes...

"You do like him!" Mina pointed,

"I-I don't know." You shrugged.

"How don't you know!?"

"Because I was never taught emotions Mina." You sighed, leaning against the sink, "I was taught to ignore and suppress them, not embrace them like you were."

"Well...how does he make you feel?"

"I don't know..." You muttered feeling embarrassed about opening up, "...fine?"

"Just fine?" Mina blinked.

"Happy?" You guessed,

"What do you feel when he is around?"

"Annoyed." You glared into the distance.

"Annoyed?" Mina chuckled, "How so?"

"My heart races, my throat closes up, my brain flatlines it's all annoying." You say, "How do I stop it?"

"Aw-" Mina hugged you, "-you got it bad for him."

"Got what?"

"You love him (y/n)."
