The reasoning behind the teachers wanting the students to return to their homerooms was to announced in a few short weeks UA high school would be holding the school festival. You watched as your classmates cheered, happy it wasn't being canceled due to the high villain activity.
After the class was excused, Aizawa held you back. The two of you remained silent until everyone was out of the room and the door was shut.
"How's the leg?" Aizawa asked.
"Uh, it's fine." You answered, knowing the condition of your leg was not the reason you were being held after class. "Everything ok?"
"I was hoping All Might would be here with me-" Aizawa sighed, "-but he is stuck in traffic."
"Ok...?"
"Officer Maeda called me." Aizawa explained, "I wish All Might and I could have been there when you were interviewed-" That's a word for it... "-I'm sorry we werent."
"What is going on?"
"It's Shadow Jack."
"D-Did he escape?" You asked, your stomach sinking into your gut.
"No." Aizawa shook his head, "Nothing like that."
"Ok." You breathed feeling relieved. "Then what is-?"
"Officer Maeda has been tasked with interrogating Shadow Jack about his operation."
"Ok?"
"We seem to believe that Shadow Jack had more than just the one warehouse you were held in."
"You mean...there are others?"
"It's a strong possibility."
"What does this have to do with me?"
"Shadow Jack will only disclose the location of the other warehouse to...you."
"Me!?"
"Yes."
"I-"
"I know." Aizawa soft replied, reaching out and touching your shoulder. "This is a lot to ask of you, but you won't be alone, All Might and I will be right there with you."
"I-I..."
"What if you were still one of those kids locked up?" Aizawa asked,
"I would still be praying for a miracle." You whispered.
"You could be their miracle." Aizawa said, "Shadow Jack is going to be restrained, in a locked room and to top it off there are going to be guards as well as All Might and myself. He won't be able to touch you."
"When would we...?"
"The day of the school festival."
"What!?" You snapped your head up, "But I-"
"I know." Aizawa breathed, "It's not fair to ask you to miss something like this, but this is the only day we can line everyone up."
"Fine." You looked to the floor, feeling your chest deflate.
"You're doing the right thing."
"I know." You looked away; you always did the right thing...
----
After getting more details from Aizawa, you were allowed to return to the dorms to enjoy the rest of your night.
"Hey-!" You were greeted with a mixture of voices, "-didn't you accidentally admit your parents made you take music classes when you were a kid!?" Kaminari's voice made you look up from the floor. The class was crowding around Bakugo.
"Awesome-!" Sero raised his hand, "-take a seat and show us what you got!" You decided not to say anything, you just took a seat on the couch and watch the show.
"In your dreams moron." Bakugo turned away from the excited class.
"Right-!" Sero mocked "-I bet the drums are too hard for ya!"
Bakugo snapped around,
"Nothing is too hard for me!" He growled snatching the drum sticks out of Sero's hands before taking a seat at the shiny drums set up in the common area.
You were blown away by how good Bakugo could play. Your eyes were glued to him every second he played the drums, he was almost a natural at them. You found yourself unable to look away, trying to remember every detail of this moment.
"Well!?" Bakugo snapped once he finished his demo.
"That was...killer!" Jiro breathed.
"He's so good!" Mineta was in disbelief.
"Who'd have known that you've got talents!?" Mina joked.
"That's it Bakugo's gotta be our drummer!"
You watched your classmates with a heavy chest, you wanted to jump in the mix and be a part of this. But what would the point be if you wouldn't preform in the show? You would be wasting everyone's time including your own.
Spotting a discarded bag of chips, you grabbed them resting your head on the back of the couch you listened to your class planning away. They seemed so excited, talking about who would play what, who would dance, and something about special effects.
"Oh-!" Mina perked up, "-(y/n) your back!" You looked over after shoving a chip in your mouth, your class all spotted you.
"Hey!" Toru jumped, "When did you get back!?"
"We didn't see you come in." Shoto walked over to the couches, taking a seat beside you.
"Yeah!" Kirishima did the same, "When did you get back!?"
"Not long." You answered, "You guys seem to be having fun."
"We are!" Mina clapped, sitting on the coffee table looking at you. "We could use you in so many ways!"
"-the fuck?" You responded.
"Ok that sounded bad!" Mina awkwardly laughed, "I-I just meant you could be a dancer, or play an instrument I bet you're a natural at one or with all your quirks you would be a great help with special effects!"
"Can you play an instrument (y/n)?" Sero wondered.
"Yep-" You salty replied, "-between being locked in cell and constant training I was taught the base."
"R-Right-!" Sero nervously laughed, "-stupid question!"
"I-I'm sorry." You sighed, "I didn't mean to sound like a dick."
"Everything ok?" Sero wondered.
"What did Mr. Aizawa hold you after class for?" Jiro wondered.
"More importantly-" Mina stepped in, "-I can teach you to dance in no time, or you can be in special effects, it's totally up to you!"
"I...I can't do either of those things." You sighed.
"What do you mean?" Asui questioned.
"I'm not going to be here the day of the festival." You stood, walking to the kitchen. Your class followed.
"What do you mean you're not going to be here?" Midoriya wondered.
"I uh..." You picked out an apple. "...am going to be..."
"Just spit it out already!" Bakugo snapped, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest.
"Be nice!" Kirishima lectured.
"I..." Should you even tell them? They have already seen so much of your scarred path; did you want to expose them even more? "...have a thing." You decided to say.
"A thing?" Mina blinked, "What are you not telling us!?"
"It's nothing important." You shrugged.
"Then why can't you tell us?" Kirishima wondered,
"Come on (y/n)!" Mina reached out, touching your shoulder, "You know you can tell us anything, we are friends." You looked into her bright innocent eyes, you found yourself hating lying to her.
"I have to go with All Might and Aizawa that day." You kept your eyes away from their gazes.
"To do what?" Asui asked,
"To...talk to...Shadow Jack-"
"WHAT!?"
"Why in the hell would you do that!?" Bakugo kicked himself off the wall, moving closer to you.
"Because-"
"There is no way you can do that!" Mina didn't let you speak, "That's dangerous not to mention how that is going to affect you!"
"I have to." You replied.
"Why!?"
"Because there are others out there."
"Others?"
"Like me." You clarified, "Who are still locked up, after all this time."
"Wh-"
"Shadow Jack said the only person he will tell the locations to is me."
"Why you!?"
"I don't know." You answered.
"Why can't it be someone else like a Pro-hero!?"
"I don't know."
"You can't seriously be going!?"
"I already agreed to go."
"But-"
"Isn't this what you all rammer on about?" You frowned, annoyed by your classmates. "About doing the right thing, being a hero, protecting people no matter what?"
"Well yeah but..."
"There is no but-" You sharply snapped; "-you don't know how shitty it is to be locked inside a show box just waiting to die. It's a fucking nightmare and if there are still people out there who have the same fate as me, then I have no choice but to try to get them out."
"But-"
"I thought...I thought you would be proud of me for this." Your eyebrows pulled together, your emotions of disbelief and disgust written on your face as you grabbed another apple before pushing your way through the crowd to the elevators.
You hated the fact you ruined their fun night, but why didn't they have your back? Why weren't they encouraging you, giving you advice or offering no... demanding they come with you? Even though Aizawa already said no to this idea, it would still be nice if they offered.
You plopped down onto your bed, munching on the apples while you stared at the ceiling swirling inside your thoughts. You never thought you would have to ever face him again, and if you did it would have been inside a fight, one that you would lose.
You wondered how you would react to seeing that man again. What emotions would go through you? Would you have questions of your own besides what the police want you to ask? Were you even strong enough even to look him in the eye?
