After missing a whole week of school, All Might, Dr. Aimi and you decided to return to school only for a couple of days. After that and if you still wished, then you will be pulled out of class and placed in online classes.
There was thick silence in the car this morning while All Might drove to school. You gazed out the window, feeling a little lighter after a few sessions with Dr. Aimi. You felt closer to All Might too.
Maybe you weren't ruining his life by being around.
All Might glanced over, you gazed out the window watching the city run by. He had no idea you survived as cruelly as you did. He selfishly chose his wants over your needs, he thought putting you in an environment with kids your age would be the best but...you needed to heal in ways he could never understand.
You and All Might parted ways, agreeing to meet at his car so he can drive you home. You had minutes before the bell rang, signaling school to start. Your hand was on the classroom door, you filled your lungs before pulling the door open.
Eyes instantly greeted you.
You kept your eyes forward, slowly exhaling, making your way to your seat.
The room felt still as the light bubbly atmosphere flattened.
'Don't' You thought to yourself, turning to gaze out the window. 'It's not your fault they stopped their conversation and made it awkward, you cannot feel sad for things out of your control.' You repeated Dr. Aimi's words again and again inside your head until Aizawa showed up and started class.
The teacher and you locked eyes; he was surprised to see you here today but knew what was going on thanks to All Might keeping him in the loop.
"Good morning class." Aizawa said, "Today we are going to pick up where we left off-" Aizawa started the class.
You slightly listened to Aizawa as you gazed out the window watching the clouds peacefully float by.
"Take one and pass it down-" Aizawa ordered, "-then get with your matching number and began your assignment."
"Dumbass-!" A voice snapped, turning from the window Bakugo was turned around in his seat glaring at you as he held out papers.
"Oh." You muttered, taking one for yourself before handing them behind you to Midoriya.
"Alright-!" Kaminari rubbed his hands together, he loved group projects. "-who has number eight!?"
You gazed down at the number in the corner of the sheet in your hand. With another deep sigh slowly you raised your hand. Kaminari's face dropped seeing you were his partner.
"What!?" He sighed, throwing his head back. "Why do I have to be partners with the weirdo!?"
Aizawa turned from stepping into his sleeping bag, about to tear Kaminari a new one. You rose to your feet, moving to sit beside your partner.
"Yeah-" You replied flatly, "-because I am thrilled to be partnered with you."
"Wh-?" Kaminari blinked, hearing you speak actual words. Aizawa smirked returning to crawling in his sleeping bag. Shadow Jack broke you, forced you to believe you were useless, you were just a broken tool. But it would seem Dr. Aimi's sessions were working.
Flipping to the correct page you ignored Kaminari and began to work on the packet before you.
"I'll do the first four pages and you can do the last four." You spoke without looking at the blond.
"W-Well how about-"
"You thought I would do all the work and you could just copy?" You looked over at the boy.
"We-Well-"
"You thought wrong." Your voice was cold, if these people wanted to hate you for no good reason then so be it.
"Jezz-" Kaminari muttered, "-you don't have to be so rude about it."
"Because you have been such a peach to me." You muttered back.
"What was that?" Kaminari narrowed his eyes on your blank face.
"You heard me." You challenged.
"I don't think I did teacher's pet!" Kaminari glared, gaining the attention of the class.
"What did you call me?"
"You heard me." Kaminari mocked.
"How the hell would I be a teacher's pet?"
"Oh really!?" Kaminari laughed, Aizawa watched through the dark strands of his hair waiting until he had to intervene. "How aren't you!? You show up out of nowhere for starters, you keep to yourself like a weirdo and to top it off you get special treatment-"
"What special treatment?"
"Like you can eat in class, you don't have to clean or train. I saw you coming out of the teacher lounge-!"
"You are a fucking moron." You stated, glaring into your partner's eyes. Momo and Mina's mouth dropped open, even Aizawa was taken back by your abrasive behavior.
"Wh-What did you just call-"
"I called you a fucking moron!" You stated louder, "I don't get 'special treatment', maybe if you asked me about it instead of assuming shit you would-"
"We tried to ask you questions!" Kaminari snapped, "You refused to say anything-"
"My first day here I got swarmed by a bunch of strangers asking me about the battle I was still recovering from. Don't you think that's a little rude!?"
"We were just trying to get to know you." Mina defended Kaminari.
"How?" You turned to her, "By bringing up the man who held me captive my entire life?"
"U-Uh well..." Mina stuttered feeling herself blush.
"And to correct your statement-" You turned back to Kaminari; "-my quirk forces my body to heal at an alarming rate. It uses up all the nutrients inside my body to heal my injuries which makes me hungry all the time. If I don't eat, I literally starve to death."
"O-Oh..." Kaminari muttered.
"I don't get to train with you guys because I am medically not cleared to. I don't clean at the end of the day because I rush over to Recovery Girl's office before she leaves, so she can treat me with her quirk which drains me until I pass out. So, you tell me-" You stood, "-tell me where the hell the 'special treatment' is!?"
"Alright-" Aizawa called crawling out of his sleeping bag.
"This was a mistake." You declared to yourself, shoving your belongings into your bag. "Excuse me." Aizawa nodded his head as he and the rest of the class watched you leave.
Aizawa let out a deep breath as the door closed, he scratched the side of his neck.
"That did not go well." He muttered, already hearing All Might's panicked voice.
"Wh-what!?" Kaminari snapped at his classmates who all stared at him. "How was that any of my fault!?"
"It's not-" Aizawa said,
"Thank you-" Kaminari went to sigh in relief.
"-it's all of yours." Aizawa finished.
"What!?" Kaminari whined.
"You all assumed things about (y/n)-" Aizawa said, "-without even trying to get to know her."
"We did try-" Mina poorly defended.
"When I walked into the classroom on (y/n)'s first day you were all swarming her to the point she couldn't breathe, asking her about the battle she and many others including myself almost lost our lives in, how is that trying to get to know her?"
"I..."
"The moment you all saw her get--what did you call it? 'Special treatment' you all wrote her off, you stopped trying to get to know her without even knowing the reasons."
"I guess we could have tried harder..." Mina muttered looking down at her desk.
"Why didn't she try harder!?" Kaminari defended himself.
"(y/n)'s first day here was her first day of school, ever." Aizawa stated, "You all forget, she was held prisoner by Shadow Jack, she isn't familiar with being around large sums of people, she doesn't know social queues or how to do small talk."
"M-Mr. Aizawa-" Midoriya rose his hand, "-why did (y/n) get placed in our class?"
"There were many factors." Aizawa replied,
"Like?" Toru questioned.
"First we looked at the teachers, who could best handle her." Aizawa answered.
"What does that mean?" Asui wondered,
"Second-" Aizawa chose to ignore Asui, "-we looked at each class. Someone wanted (y/n) placed in Class 1-A, but we had to look at every class and which would be the best fit. After analyzing different aspects, we narrowed our option down to Classes 1-A and 1-B."
"What made you all choice our class?" Kirishima raised his hand.
"Your class has had to fight real villains; you have seen what the real world is like. Granted Class 1-B has had more time to study and learn, we felt (y/n) would have been too sharp around the edges for them to handle."
"You thought..." Midoriya breathed, "...that we..."
"We thought (y/n) would have been more...welcomed...into the classroom than what she was." Aizawa said, "Clearly we were wrong."
"What do you mean?" Mina wondered,
"Well..." Aizawa sighed, "...if I'm being honest then I would say (y/n) hasn't gotten the best impression of school, so she was thinking about switching to online, she was convinced to give it a bit more time before she made that choice but after today well..." Aizawa stopped speaking as the bell sang, "...you all made her choice for her very easy. You're excused." He said before leaving the classroom.
----
The sky was clear with a bright sun lighting up the afternoon. You leaned against a tree listening to the bird's chirp lightly. You were stuck here until the end of the day when All Might finished up his classes. Luckily, you decided to pack the leftovers from the delicious dinner last night for lunch today.
The sun was pressed against your skin, your 'snack bag' as All Might calls it resting beside you as you opened the plastic container. Small snack cakes rested inside the bag waiting for you, you were so excited!
"Well, Well, Well-" A taunting voice called, you turned your head seeing a set of three boys making their way over. "-if it isn't the random new student in class 1-A."
"Can I help you?" You questioned, wishing they would just go away.
"Eating all alone today?" The blond boy in the middle half mocked, you looked around.
"You see someone I don't?" You replied, the boy threw his head back laughing. His blond hair slicked back.
"You're funny, I like you."
"O... K?" You trailed off looking around not understanding why you were being bothered.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, I am Monoma Neito."
"Good for you?" You replied getting sharp vibes from this Neito kid, his smile was forced as he watched you watch him. "What do you want?"
"I was just wondering why you weren't with your other class 1-A buddies."
"Why do you care?"
"Is there trouble in paradise?" Neito questioned.
"What does that even mean?" You wondered, "Do you mind leaving?"
"Eh?" Neito blinked, looking at you in shock.
"I don't like you."
"H-How-!?" Neito was taken back by your blunt comment. Seeing Neito or his friends made no movement to leave, you turned back to your meal deciding to ignore the bunch until they went away. "-what is this I see?"
Neito swiftly swiped your snack bag.
"Give that back!" You ordered.
"Oh, lookie here boys!" Neito said tossing the bags to his friends, "Look what I got you."
"This isn't funny." You stated, "Give it back."
"What are you going to do if I don't?" Neito challenged, desperate to be stronger and better than the members of class 1-A.
Your stomach growled and soon after the first rumble your limbs felt weak, and you slumped backwards too tired to stand.
"Looks like class 1-A is letting just anyone in now."
"Looks like it!" Neito laughed, before moving forward, kicking your container spilling the sweet food all over the grass.
"Hey!" You shouted,
"Enjoy your lunch!"
Who the hell was that guy!?
You sat in the grass leaning against the tree trunk as your stomach rumbled again. Well, what were you going to do now?
~Meanwhile~
In the forest around UA, All Might and Midoriya trained together. Midoriya's task was to smash multiple large rocks in an attempt to use all for one above his eight percent.
"All Might?" Midoriya turned, sweat painted his face as he looked at his mentor, "Is there anything wrong? You seem to be distracted."
All Might replied with a deep sigh, unable to mask his racing mind.
"I spoke with Aizawa." All Might said.
"O-Oh..." Midoriya muttered, thinking back to this morning when you grabbed your belongings and left class, you haven't been seen since.
"I suppose..." All Might trailed off, "...I am just disappointed."
"Dis...appointed?" Midoriya quickly replied, "In me!?"
"It wouldn't be fair to say it was in you." All Might hung his head, leaning on one of the untouched rocks.
"What did I do!?" Midoriya ran around All Might to face him. "All Might if I am not training hard enough, I'll-"
"It has nothing to do with your training or progress." All Might snapped at Midoriya for the first time, Midoriya fletched at the sharp tone.
"Then what!?" Midoriya gushed out, "I don't understand!"
"This this my fault."
"What is? What do you mean!? All Might-!"
"(y/n)!" All Might hollered, "It's my fault she was miserable in your class!"
"(y/n)?" Midoriya muttered, "All Might...why do you care so much about her?"
"I was who recommended her for class 1-A." All Might slowly exposed himself.
"W-Why?"
"Because you were there." All Might answered,
"M-Me!?"
"I thought you would try to get close with her like you did all your other classmates. I thought you would befriend her and maybe then she could see what is was like to have some sort of normal life!"
"All Might..." Midoriya breathed,
"(y/n) lives with me." All Might admitted without looking Midoriya in the eye.
"Sh-She lives with you!?"
"Yes, ever since she was released from the hospital."
"Wh-Why didn't you tell me!?"
"I didn't want my relationship with you or my status to effect who she becomes friends with. I wanted her to make them on her own, but it's because of my recommendations, my restrictions on her, my favors that I pulled with other teachers that your class rejected her."
"We-We didn't mean to-"
"You did young Midoriya." All Might sighed, "And it isn't fair of me to be upset with you, I could never force you to be friend with someone you didn't like."
"I don't not like (y/n)..."
"You don't have to lie to Midoriya." All Might closed his eyes, "What's done is done. I pushed her to attend school too fast...I should have listened to her doctor and the other faculty but...I just wanted her to have a normal life."
"All Might..." Midoriya breathed, tearing watering his eyes.
"All she has ever known is pain, I wanted her to see what it was like being normal. Going to school and having friends but...I ruined it for her."
"You didn't ruin it All Might." Midoriya muttered, "We did..." He said looking to the ground feeling ashamed.
"You-" All Might's comforting speech was cut off by his phone buzzing in his pants pocket, he huffed before pulling it out. "-yeah?"
Midoriya sucked in a deep breath gazing around at the smashed rocked,
"She what-!?" Midoriya spun around to see All Might's eyes wide with terror, "-I'm on my way!"
"What happened!?" Midoriya quickly asked, "Is everything alright?"
"Finish those four rocks before your next class." All Might replied.
"What-What happened?" Midoriya wasted his breath watching his mentor jog away leaving Midoriya alone in the woods with only himself and a handful of guilty thoughts.
