Chapter 13 - Betrayal

Gerald didn't move.

"I said, drop your gun." The young officer reiterated.

"Why don't you try and take it from me?" Gerald answered.

The young officer began to move but then stopped. He didn't want to take away the gun from the back of Gerald's head.

"It looks like you have been out maneuvered. You won't be able to leave here alive." Said the woman moving the hair and caressing a young girl's neck. She licked her lips greedily, eager for a taste.

"Do it and it will be your last." Gerald said while keeping his gun trained on the woman.

"Ha, do you think you are in the position to be threatening others?" She said with a laugh but didn't move her mouth closer to the girl's neck.

"Then why does it seem like you are more afraid than I am?" Gerald asked.

"Drop your fucking gun right now!" Screamed the young officer. Gerald continued to ignore him.

"I can kill him for you." Croaked the male acolyte.

"No!" The young officer quickly stopped the vampire. "He wants this one alive if possible. Hilton, get up and take his weapons. Vlad didn't hit you that hard." A few moments went by. "Hilton! Get your ass up!"

"He is dead." Gerald casually said.

The young officer finally noticed the small pool of blood around the officer in the corner that was slowly growing.

"Jones, keep a bead on him while I check Hilton."

A red dot shone trough the window and appeared on Gerald's head.

The young office slowly backed up with his sight still trained on the Central agent. He moved over towards the body in the corner and rolled it over. There were three bullet holes on the man's face.

"Fuck! You killed Hilton! Fuck! So what if it means that I won't be turned today. You have to pay."

"That's what I like to hear." Said the woman.

Gerald suddenly dropped his gun and raised his hands. His submachinegun on the strap, swung back into his jacket.

"Fine, but you aren't leaving here unscathed. Do you know what a 380 sniper bullet can do to a limb? Let me show you. Jones, cripple his shoulder."

The red dot moved from the center of Gerald's forehead to his right shoulder, which was further from his heart than the left. The dot hung their giving a sense of impending crisis.

The man and the woman acolyte no longer hid behind the children and began to walk towards Gerald.

"Shoot damn it! I told you to shoot!"

*Crash*

The window shattered as the projectile pierced through it and then ripped into his right shoulder.

"AHHH!!!!!" A scream rang out through the room.

*Swoosh* *Swoosh*

Two high-voltage splicer picks flew through the air faster than bullets. They buried themselves in the chests of the two acolytes. Although the vampires were undead and impervious to pain with amazing regenerative abilities, with enough electricity coursing through their bodies, their muscles locked up.

*PingPingPing* *PingPingPing*

A burst of bullet flew through the vampire's eye sockets and buried into their brains. When the electricity from the high-voltage splicer picks ran out, both of them crumpled to the floor.

"AHHHH!!!!"

The young officer was creaming in pain while trashing on the ground. An arrow was lodged deep into his right shoulder, his gun had fallen to the ground and bounced away from him. The young officer was pushing on the ground with his feet and got out of the line of sight from the window. He paled when he saw Gerald turn towards him.

"You… you can't kill me. You can't."

Gerald raised his gun.

"Do you know who I work for. He is so much more powerful than those useless pieces of shits who couldn't contain you. He will be coming. He will come for you. You're so done. You're so over. You're-."

*PingPingPing*

"So annoying." Gerald finished. "Besides, your boss has been here the whole time."

The young officer was choking on his own blood after three bullets went straight through his lungs.

"Thank you. I do prefer the quiet." Said a voice.

A creature appeared as the shadow solidified around him and gave him form. Standing eight foot tall with bright yellow eyes and gruesome fangs that hung down from his mouth. A lanky figure walked towards the young officer and watched as the light vanished form his eyes and his soul left his body.

When Gerald blinked, the figure vanished and reappeared next to the two dead acolytes. He leisurely bent down and pulled one of the picks from their chests and looked it over.

"I see." Said the man before turning towards Gerald. "No wonder you are so capable. You aren't from this world either."

"Indeed. When people like you cross dimensions, they call people like me to take care of it. Is there anyway I could convince you to go home?"

"I think not. I am guessing there is no way that I could convince you to join me."

"I think not." Gerald replied.

"Then it seems that we are at an impasse." The man said while opening his hands and letting the high-voltage splicer pick fall to the ground.

"It would seem so."

The two stared at each other, only separated by a group of small children.

"Then let's begin." The vampire elder said.

His body melted into mist while barreling towards Gerald. He took form as his hand transformed into a claw.

Gerald was barely able to get his gun up in time to block the blow.

*Crunch*

The submachine gun bent where it was struck, and Gerald was rocketed backwards through the wall.

*Bang*

He tumbled into the house next door after smashing through the bricks.

"Good, even though you won't be joining me, at least this won't be over too quickly and I can enjoy myself."

The elder transformed into mist again and appeared next to Gerald who was pushing himself back up to his feet.

*Bang*

His foot caught Gerald directly in the chest and he was punted through another wall. The elder's eyes narrowed when Gerald landed on his feet while sliding backwards. The vampire could sense that the ribs he had just broken were already slowly mending themselves. Not as fast as a vampire's regeneration but it was still impressive.

The vampire's eyes jerked towards his foot. A grenade was hooked onto the bottom of his pant leg. He turned himself into mist just in time.

*BOOM*

The windows of the building's third floor were blown out from the force of the explosion. The bright light and the shockwave forced the vampire to solidify before he had reach Gerald.

*Ping* *Ping* *Ping*

The bullet's bounced off the face of the vampire elder who frowned and scowled at Gerald with disdain.

"Did you really think such a pathetic weapon could actually hurt me?" The vampire ridiculed as the small scratches healed almost immediately.

Gerald holstered his pistols.

"Ha, I just wanted to see how old you were. Seems like you are still just a young buck if such a weapon can scratch you."

"You… You bastard. I am over three hundred years old. I was ruling over countries back before your great great grandfather even stopped suckling on his mother's teat."

"Three hundred years? Like I said, a young buck." Gerald responded while pulling the two daggers from his waist.

As he griped the blades, the veins on his arm bulged and blood flowing through them slightly glowed with a red light.

The two ran at each other with inhuman speed.

The vampire clawed towards Gerald's face who ducked under the outstretched arm.

*Slice*

A wound was carved into the vampire's side. The wound, over an inch deep, caused blood to splash but it was healed before Gerald could even turn around.

"You bastard. I will teach you to respect your elders." The vampire hollered while clawing again. Gerald jerked back to dodged but didn't avoid the foot that landed in the center of his chest.

*Bang*

Gerald flew out of the building, through the window and fell towards the street below.

He hit the ground and rolled before coughing out a mouthful of blood. He wiped his lips and chin with the back of his wrist before he grinned.

"A young buck like you dares to call yourself my elder? Ha. Come show your grandaddy what you can actually do."

Furious, the elder vampire was successfully goaded out of the building. He leapt the three stories and landed elegantly before Gerald.

"You have thoroughly enraged me this time. I can admit that you are a worthy enemy, but you will have to die all the same."

With a flick of his fingernail, the vampire drew blood on his own palm. Red liquid sprayed and pooled in his palm.

With a flick of his wrist, the sphere of blood was lengthened into a thin sword. The blood red blade solidified, and the vampire gripped it tightly as he stepped forward.

"Die!" He shouted as he flashed forward as he swung his sword down from above.

*Clang*

Gerald crossed his two daggers and caught the blade in the center before giving a swift knee to the vampire to create space.

"Impossible, no ordinary steel can block my lineage weapon."

"Ha, who said my blades were ordinary. You still have a lot to learn, young buck."

"Shut UP!"

*Clang* *Clang* *Clang*

In the center of the street, under the mid-day sun, Gerald and the elder vampire kept trading blows with each other.

On the roof of the apartment building, Dasher stood next to Charlie who had an arrow nocked and drawn.

"Wait for it… wait for it… wait for it…" Dasher kept repeating while Charlie looked down the sight on her compound bow.

Charlie was amazed as she watched the fight below. The two figures traded blows at immense speed, and she was barely able to keep up with flickering figures. With each impact, a spider web of cracks would etch themselves in the blacktop, originating from the pair's feet.

"Wait for it… wait for it… wait for it… Now."

The arrow was loosed and pierced through the air towards the back of the elder's head after he landed in a new position.

*Crash*

The vampire took a hand from the grip of his sword and reach back, plucking the arrow from the air.

Shards of glass fell as Alpha lunged out of the window; his fist drawn back. In the brief moment when the vampire grabbed the arrow, Alpha launched his fist like a cannon.

*Bam* *Bam*

His fist slammed into the side of the vampire's head, but Alpha caught a knee to his stomach and was launched into a car on the side of the street. Its windshield was smashed, and the frame bent inward.

As the vampire's head rocked backwards from the blow. A pair of high-voltage splicer picks stabbed down into either side of the elder's neck.

*Click*

A hundred thousand volts surged through its body as Gerald raised two pistols and aimed with the barrels leveled towards the creature's eyes.

"It's the end for you, young buck."

*Ping* *Ping*
