"Sorry, not interested." Gerald said before he shut the door.
*Knock* *Knock*
The woman spoke. "You should know that the only reason we aren't taking you by force is because we saw the Calamity Unit leaving your residence a minute ago. Otherwise, you would be bagged and moved to safety whether you want to or not."
"Ha, ha, let me see how capable you are then. If you saw the Calamity Unit leaving you must have also seen them be humble and polite. At least they know their place. Now please excuse me, I have work to do and don't want to lose my inspiration." Gerald said through the door.
"Your right, we are bluffing. But this involves your sister."
Gerald opened the door. "What has this got to do with her?"
"Can we come in instead of talking in the hallway?" The man asked.
"Fine." Gerald said, while stepping back and letting them enter. The three then moved to the living room. "Now talk, why are you here?" Gerald commanded.
The man frowned but the woman spoke. "I don't know if you are aware, but your sister works for the federal government. She is on assignment overseas but her personal information was compromised, and she has now gone dark. If her enemies want to draw her out, they may use you to force her to appear."
"That is why you need to come with us immediately." The man said. "It is for your own safety."
Gerald rolled his eyes and shook his head. "No thanks, I will be fine."
*Bang*
The man slammed his fist on a table. "Damn it, we can't let your stubbornness comprise one of our agents."
Gerald frowned. "Act out again and there will be consequences."
"This isn't a game you little shit. Come with us, NOW!" The man yelled while rising form his seat, the woman tried to stop him, but he paid no mind.
Gerald stood up and pointed towards the door. "Please leave."
"You…" The man then lunged at him.
Gerald side stepped and his hand flashed out. He moved behind the man and pointed his own gun at the back of his head after removing the man's own gun from his holster. "How can you protect me when you can't even protect yourself?"
The man didn't stop. "Assaulting a federal agent will l-."
*Whap*
The pistol slapped into the back of the man's head knocking him unconscious.
*Click* *Clank*
Gerald removed the magazine from the gun and then unchambered the round that was in the barrel. He tossed the empty gun to the wide-eyed agent who sat frozen on the couch. He then picked up the man by the scruff of his neck and walked to the door and threw him into the hallway.
"Please take your garbage and be on your way." He said to the woman.
She quietly walked out of Gerald's home. Before he closed the door, she turned around and spoke. "I have looked at your file and you are just an ordinary citizen. You shouldn't be able to get the drop on a senior agent like that. What exactly is your relationship with the Calamity unit?" She asked.
Gerald stopped when he was about to shut the door. "If you saw my file, you should have noticed something off. It is so ordinary and mundane that it isn't possible. As for the Calamity Unit, you could say that I train them." He then shut the door and turned the lock.
Taking out his phone, Gerald made a call.
"Hello Mr. Acers, I didn't expect to hear from you so soon. What can I do for you?"
"Well… I may have told some Feds that I train your people. They wanted to take me into protective custody and wouldn't take no for an answer."
"Ah, I see. I just received the brief about your sister. I was going to inform the relevant departments that you needn't be bothered but I guess I was too slow. Don't worry, I will take care of it."
"Thanks." Gerald then hung up the phone.
He sighed and then went to his office to start typing.

Inside a federal building. The man that Gerald knocked unconscious woke up with a stir. "What, where is he? God help me if I don't teach that brat a lesson." He then found his bearings and noticed that he was seated on a couch in his bosses office.
"Hmpf." The old man at the desk snorted. "You better drop that idea and adjust your attitude. A ghost branch of the military has already called us and informed that they will be taking care of Mr. Acers personal protection."
"Boss, that punk attacked me and even held a gun to my head."
*Bang*
The older man violently slammed his desk drawer shut. "Yes, your own gun, after you attacked him in his own home. I sent you to protect him, not attack him. Lidia told me everything that happened. I worry when I think about how you have been training her. I assigned her a new partner. You will spend a month working with the analyst department. Fix your conduct if you want back in the field. That is all."
"But boss-."
"I said, that is all."
The man left his bosses office in a huff but didn't dare to argue back any further.
The boss sat behind his desk while he looked over Gerald's 'way too average' file. "Hmm, a man who trains the militaries most dangerous unit. He seems like a real asset worth knowing."
The boss behind the desk knew things that others weren't privilege too. He was the director of an entire agency after all. While others thought that the Calamity unit responded after natural disasters and what not, he knew the truth. The dealt with the beings that caused those 'natural disasters'.
He then pressed his intercom button. "Send Agent Lidia in."

Gerald stopped writing after a minute and decided to order takeout. After he placed his order, he didn't put his phone away. He tapped on it a few times.
On a street halfway around the world a woman worked through a crowd with her face obscured. A public payphone began to ring beside her. When she walked past it, the ringing stopped. After she turned onto the next block, another pay phone began to ring.
She hesitated for a moment before reaching out and picking it up. "Hello."
"You made a mess again." Gerald said.
"Big brother!" She excitedly replied. "It wasn't my fault, it was some other agent who led to the breech. Don't blame your sweet little sister." She said with a playful pout.
"Yeah, yeah, are you alright?"
"I am safe."
"Good, then clean up your mess. I had some federal agents try to abduct me for my protection today."
"Hey, I already said it is not my fault. You didn't kill them did you?"
"No but I knocked one of them out after taking his gun."
"What? Who was it? Do I know them?"
"How the hell would I know if you know them?"
"You always know stuff that you shouldn't know. It was a fair question. Did you get a name?"
"No, it was a man, six foot one, brown hair, brown eyes, scar on his chin."
"Really small ears and a dirty mouth?"
"Yeah, you know the guy?"
"Yeah, we rolled around the sheets a few times in the past until I broke it off."
"Eww, stop, I don't want to hear about my little sisters' dalliances."
"Pfft, don't be a prude. You should find someone to date yourself. Mom keeps saying she wants to set up some blind dates for you."
"Hey, I got a lady I meet occasionally."
"What, big brother has a girlfriend? Dish, tell me. Who is it? What's her name?"
"Hmpf, its nothing you need to know about. And don't you dare thinking about having me investigated. I am already hassled enough."
"Pah, I will find out eventually."
"Alright, since you are good, I am hanging up to get back to my writing."
"No, no, no. Big brother, I am on my own until I get back. Why don't you help me out and send me some goodies."
"Pah, since when do you need my help?"
"Fine be that way, I will tell mom that you want her help to meet people."
"Fine, fine. Give me two minutes and go to the mailbox behind you."
"Woah, can you see me right now?"
"Alright, I am hanging up now. Remember, you owe me one."
"Sure. I will let you take me on a mission, and I will make it up to you with a reward point."
Gerald shook his head and hung up. He loved his sister, but she really irked him sometimes. She would disappear without warning all the times and everything was always about her. Plus, there was also the fact that she had an excuse for everything.
Gerald put things into a box and attached a matter transporter to it.
The device activated and then fell apart.
"There goes a reward point."
He didn't object to helping her out. It was just that, she didn't need the help in the slightest. It was almost guaranteed that she would squirrel away everything he just sent and save it for a rainy day far in the future, but he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he didn't send her a care package when she asked for help.
He sighed and got back to his book.
*Tap* *Tap* *Tap*
The sound of typing echoed through the apartment until late in the evening. The next morning, the sounds continued until nightfall. These events repeated themselves for two weeks until Gerald completed his newest work of fiction.
Once completed, he picked up his phone and made a call.
"This is Gerald."
"It doesn't matter if you have my number saved, it is still polite to introduce oneself when making a phone call."
"I am not being fussy."
"I called because I have just completed another story. It is long enough to be a standalone book."
"Yes."
"Yes."
"Yes, it is about vampires that take over a city. The local population is slowly being turned into monsters under the vampire's control. The military seals off the city and a team of special agents are sent in to deal with it. I can send it to you right-."
"Oh, you are flying in tomorrow?"
"Yeah, sure. How about noon at the normal café?"
"Great, I will see you there."
