This is a bit complicated, cards had grades separated from Black, White, Red, green and the finally Blue. Each had a denotion of stars to depict their rarity even if they're of a low grade. There is one star to five star, however when it comes to card decks and card cradles their denotations get a bit complicated. There are elemental cards, mental cards, physical cards and energy cards. The cards in existence were all grouped like this; from elemental card that had skills based on elements, mental cards that had skills like charm, telekinesis, and illusions, physical cards that increased strength, speed, and defense or imbue physical properties onto a beast or its master. And then energy cards that held abilities based on energy, like photon beams, stellar blast etc…. they mostly have eccentric sounding names for the abilities and skills they carry.
Amongst cards, passive skills are really rare, they're more powerful than active skill as passive skill are always in play, improving human's way beyond the norm. all cards depending on the amount of stars they have can be leveled up. However, most cards hardly leveled up past their grades due to the extreme costs required, which is why most people prefer rare cards that are powerful and easy to level, usually going for the white and red graded cards. Blacks are too weak, and you have to have a lot of money to upgrade green cards to Blue, and blue cards are the peak of all cards, but even so, leveling it up from one star to two star would require the same amount of resources a green card will need to get from one star to five stars. So most just left it as it is.
There were wars and conflicts, but beyond that there were tournaments for beast masters. A league that stretches all the way to an inter galactical championship. If I wasn't being bred for war, I think that would have been what I wanted to do with my life, perhaps if I'm the one in the limelight this time, no one will fuck with me. And honestly test subject or not, the life of an intergalactic celebrity athlete appeals to me by a whole lot. But here I am, being prepped for a war that would untie Nigeria…. I really need to get out of here and fast. Maybe I should try mapping the entirety of the base and see if I can estimate how deep and varied its security systems are, and also how it was possible that the crazy Hajiya Suraiya was able to discover my other escape attempts. Comrade Yusuf's punishment for that discovery had not been pretty… I need to up my game and I should….
"Enough with the books Number 7! Come with me! We have work to do." I couldn't help the sigh that came out of my mouth as I picked up my note book and a few other text books on Molecular Ether physics. I'm almost close to a break through on a secret project, I wonder if I should tweak the ether distribution from the core to the amplification chamber, perhaps then I would be able to form a stable connection as it seems as if…
"No 7!" I snapped up to attention, my eyes meeting Yusuf's fierce one, the rage within was palpable, but at the same time I could see a look I've never noticed there before…. Tiredness. He was exhausted, but not in body, I've seen him lift an army truck and turn it over, so I know it would take a lot just to bring him down. It was weird seeing him like this, and for a moment he seemed…. Relatable, to me.
"Pay attention and keep up, or else you will be going to sleep with twenty lashes of the cane tonight, with no dinner and no breakfast! Now move!"
I did as I was asked, I could figure out the specifics for my special project later. He led me out of the facility to the field that we usually used for our training. There was a man waiting there with a table of filled with weapons of all sorts, with the exception of guns. I looked at the weapons and noticed they were mostly swords or daggers of varying types. There wasn't any other weapon there, I looked up at Yusuf as he stood beside the man who had his entire body covered and his face covered with a white mask that was totally and completely blank. I blinked not exactly sure why he felt the need to cover his face.
"This is Moses, his expertise with weapons is one of the best in the world, and he will be taking over your armed combat training from now on. We will still have trainings together, but now it would only be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we only have about two months and a half to make sure you don't die in your first dungeon and you will pay attention! I do not want the disgrace of a student of mine failing a test. Moses he is all yours." And with that said, Yusuf turned around and left, leaving me with a masked man that I feel is even more of a child than I am…. Why would you need a mask for God sake?
"pick a blade, but choose carefully, as what you choose will be all I ever teach you about. So make sure it is what you want, and before you ask why there are only swords here, the answer is obvious…. that's what our masters wanted you to be trained in. now pay attention, ask as many questions as you like, I'll answer what I can as long as it pertains to our training. I am as much a slave to the caliphate as you are a pet project to them, as long as you don't make things hard for me, I will teach you to the best of my ability and not make things hard for you, Now No 7…. Choose your weapon!"
