Chapter 12 - Rankings Of Power

I don't understand why they couldn't just train me to use guns, it was getting prett7 annoying having the constant lessons with Hajiya Suraiya, the weapons training with Moses which was just mostly him beating me up with a wooden stick and the martial arts lessons with Yusuf. In retrospect perhaps I was actually getting better at it, but so far it's been pretty annoying, the experience has not been nice, not in any manner at all. Yusuf had started teaching me Muay Thai; I didn't have much of an impression of the martial art back on earth… the old one in my memories actually, but here I know for a fact that it was quite brutal.

I've been on the recovering end of the damn thing for the past three months and it has not been nice. But apart from that the sword lessons have also taken a toll. I had picked a straight edged Ninjato, it was longer than normal and had a broad side that was thick, enabling it to be used a blunt instrument. It was a peculiar sword, it was just two fingers wide and blunt edge was about an inch thick before tapering off in a sharp edge that easily sliced through metal. Moses had taken me through Ninjutsu sword training, Japanese sword play, utilizing the same moves and techniques of the fearsome warriors of the shogunate. And there was a bit of kungfu added into it, forcing me to create a style that was just as elegant as it was deadly.

The strain on my body was bitch as I have had to contort, twist and turn and utilize muscles I didn't even know I had in order to keep up with Moses and Yusuf. It was grueling, and the combats arts they taught me was not meant to be a standalone affair, they were cramming everything they could possibly teach, creating a jumbled mess and expecting to somehow make sense out of all of it and create harmony out of it. It was bloody annoying and very, very painful as bruise and cuts pretty much littered my entire body. Hajiya Suraiya on the other hand has been pretty narrow in her focus in training and teaching me. For her it has been a wellspring of knowledge as more details and context was given to what I knew and have learnt since I was reborn here.

The political situation in Nigeria was at a standstill, apparently another player had come into fray in recent months and was trying to take over the central part of the nation. And it was a player that every other power had pay close attention to, the Vatican was not one the same level as the caliphate, New Biafra and the Kingdoms of Old Eko. It was an exciting prospect for me, I'm or rather I was Christian and a devout catholic to boot…. But with the way this world is, I'm not stupid. Besides history has taught me that as long as religion was involved then shit will hit the fan pretty quickly. As for me I was way passed the point of caring about this or anything else, the only thing that mattered to me was myself. Either way I had a plan to escape, but I needed time lots of it.

But Hajiya Suraiya has not just been teaching me, she's also been training me in how to utilize my abilities of vibrations aka sounds and wind. I couldn't replicate what I did during the evaluation, making actual words come out, or rather making it echo from the sounds in my body. but the echo skill has been particularly useful in channeling my abilities, now the spirals in my body could release the sounds of my blood rushing through my body and sounds of my heartbeat which has proven to be quite devastating at a sustained emission. However, the strain and drain to use my abilities was nothing to laugh at. The ensuing result was that I needed a stronger body and more established wellspring of energy, which means I had to increase my energy stat. and it was from the plans of increasing my stats that I heard about the rankings of power in the system.

• Terminal Apprentice Warrior

• Terminal Journeyman Knight

• Terminal Advanced Lord

• Terminal Master King

• Terminal Grandmaster Emperor

Five grades and level of power with each divided into entry, core and peak. until I got my first official Card skill/ability I would not be considered a terminal apprentice warrior. After that I had to increase my energy stat to at least 5.5 and two other stats to 10.5, the next stage would need an energy stat at 15.5 and two other stats and 20.5, but the things a person's method of progression was dependent on the rarity of the terminal orbs and beasts he was attached to. Plus, a person could only have three beasts in their entire lifetime, and you could get them at any time as long as your mental stat was strong enough to keep track of more than one bond.

None the less my training with them has seen quite a lot of increase in my abilities, and it would be nice to check my gains as I knew without a shred of a doubt that tomorrow, they would be sending me into my first card dungeon to get my first card, and it was a trial that I was going to have to face alone. But it wasn't just me who needed their first card, triumphant needed a card of her own too, so I was hunting for one, but for two.

As for gains during this training my stats had gone up and my abilities had leveled up too and then I gained a few new knowledge as old ones saw an increase in level. Triumphant grew well too, and at the moment her stats when properly observed had shocked a lot of the scientist, especially doctor Salami who was responsible for the entire project, they had never seen stats like Tri, and while I didn't get away with her being named differently from what they had asked, her rate of growth had shocked them all as her potential seemed endless.

<< Passive Card Skills: None>>

<< Active Card Skills: None>>

She was still level one, but that would change as soon as we get into our first dungeon, which would be any day from now as we both take the first step on the road to power. Training has immensely helped in raising our stats past the norm for our age, it made our bodies primed and ready for the influx of energy that is to come the very moment we get our first cards…. I was ready…. We! Were ready.
