Chapter 2 - The Fear of Darkness

Standing before her, she saw what looked like a human nun, but below her human body were spider legs. Her huge widow black spider body propping up her human body was quite the sight to see, but Ari was focused on the white fangs emerging from her spider mouth. During this time in which fear was exiting Ari from every pore in her body, the Arachne stared at her with blood-red eyes, resembling the demon on the door. She was intrigued by the new human prey that she had caught.

"אסיר תודה"

TAt, the sound of this fear struck her heart once again. It wasn't only because of the overbearing figure of the Arachne, but the voice of such that could only belong to one who had no sense of humanity whatsoever.

After making movements of such that resembled a prayer, the Arachne finally spoke.

"Hoo, it looks like I caught another beautiful young one."

Fear gripped Ari's heart, and her mind went blank with no thought passing through her mind except 'Mommy, Daddy save me.'

She wished to scream her lungs out and call for help, but no sound would exit her mouth.

"Hmm, you seem to be quite scared already...hmph, serves you humans right for believing too much in something so fragile as friendship."

"But I'm still surprised. That black hair boy produces such magnificent results, to be able to drag in such wonderful prey in such a short amount of time."

"k-ken-Kentaro," She said with her voice quivering. "Where's Kentaro"

The Arachne looked at Ari.

"Pfft-hahahaha, to be worried about someone else in such a situation, you have a pure heart, don't you. Well, it's all the better for me. To be able to devour such a pure soul, Ohh! It gets me so excited."

Licking her lips, the Arachne stretched forth her hand.

"Now, let's begin, אסיר תודה"

And with those words, Ari began to fall, and fall and fall. She didn't know what exactly was happening, but her thoughts and memories were all slipping away from her, and all she could see was piercing the darkness. She called out, but no one answered. She felt utterly alone.

'How many days has it been. Has it even been a day yet? No, maybe weeks have passed. Or even months. Please, someone, come and save me from this place. I don't want to be here anymore.'

Such thoughts repeated in her head over and over for what felt like an eternity.

"Ari…"

'Huh, did someone come'

Slowly opening her eyes and uncurling from her ball-like position, she looked around and saw a girl. She was around the same height as her and had the same color hair.

"Who… are you?"

"I am you."

"You… are me? I don't understand."

"Ari…"

The new voice emerged from behind Ari, and she quickly spun around.

"What the…"

"I am also you."

Mind-boggled and confused as to how there could be 2 of her standing around, another voice appeared. One she was all too familiar with.

"Tch, Another failure. These humans are worthless."

Shuddering at the sound of this, she slowly opened her eyes to a very blurry passageway. Immediately the fear of what she had previously witnessed stuck her, and she began shivering in fear.

"Kira, I thought you were forbidden from conducting experiments on the humans."

Stunned by this new sweet-sounding voice, Ari wondered if her savior had arrived.

"Oh dear sister Sasha, It isn't wise to interrupt my dealings."

After each word Kira spoke, Ari shivered at the sound of the spider lady that had tormented her.

"Hmph, the Supreme One has summoned you, so you best cease your arrogance."

"Tch, what a pain. Hmph, it looks like you escape from my grasp, human. Had not the Supreme One summoned me… *sigh* You would have been very delicious. Latom"

Even with her sight blurred, she could make out the overbearing creature retreating. With Kira gone, Ari felt a wave of relief overcome her, and all the hairs on her body relaxed, and she let out a sigh of relief.

"Little one, you have been through a lot. Agonize no more."

Sasha lifted Ari up and began carrying her down the stairs. Ari felt a warmth extending from her, which she could not understand but instead enjoyed. She wasn't sure if Sasha was one of the spider people, but right now, she didn't care. She just wanted to enjoy this warmth.

"Little one, do you wish to become stronger?"

"Stronger?"

"kukuku, ignorance is such bliss. I wouldn't expect someone as young as yourself to understand these words, but remember this 'Become the strongest Warrior and return to claim all that is yours.'" As Ari was about to ask her to explain, Sasha stopped and opened a door and said.

"Farewell, little one, I shall await your return."

"Huh, what are you- Ahh~."

She was thrown. She looked up, and although still blurry, she saw a warm smiling face that she never wished to leave.
