Chapter 20 - Dark Leave

"Moments later, Eqihr was talking to one of the armored men about the scaled swords. Afterward, he walked over to the group and explained what happened. Eqihr said that the member that visited us was the one who was responsible for him and the other man losing their swords. He then, afterward, scolded Manny for acting out of rage. "Listen, I will be keen with all of you, this war isn't going to be nice and easy, understand?" Eqihr said while showing contemplation. Honestly, I was only worried about Manny at the moment. He hadn't lashed out like that since we were home.

Since we arrived here, Manny had been ticked off. He seemed different, but it was something substantial. "Manny, are you OK?" I asked him with caution. He remained to stare out the window in silence. I placed my hand towards his head and as I was about to clear his head, he slapped my hand. "Don't, that doesn't do anything for me, you're wasting energy." He said fiercely. His voice sounded forceful and his behavior was changing significantly. Eqihr side-eyed from across the room. Sammi, Qui, and Kalen sat straight up after Manny said, "I just wish it would all burn." His dark aura began hovering around his body and gave off an ominous atmosphere.

"Manny, don't do it again," I said tremblingly. He remained quiet and his black aura spread across the room like a bad virus. Objects near him would start to levitate and move around the room. A strong wind blew across the room and his presence didn't resemble him. Eqihr was trying to reach him and was swept away. I initiated my aura shield and blocked his wind. I steadily stepped over to him and shouted, "Manny, stop it!" He turned around aggressively and his aura forced me across the room. When that happened, he realized what he had done and grasped hold of reality. His eyes shot open as I hit the wall and his prowess deactivated.

He hurried to my aid even though I didn't require it. My back was healing as Manny was apologizing. "Goshi, are you OK?" I was struggling to speak but I confirmed that I was going to be OK. Everyone besides Eqihr showed fear towards Manny's powers and kept their distance. "Guys, I didn't mean it." He spoke before Mai's father said, "We need to do something with his powers. He could destroy this town." Mai stood behind me as Eqihr said that he didn't know how to restrict our powers. Sammi and the other guys were on guard and Mai's brothers were standing behind their father.

Manny laid me down and backed up gradually. He opened a portal and before he jumped through I said, "Manny don't!" He disregarded my request and he leaped through his portal. I tried to jump with him, but it closed before I could reach it. My body felt paralyzed as my chest felt like a hole was in it. "Goshi," Mai said as she tried to lift me off the ground. I shrugged her hand away and shouted, "Stop, don't leave!" My screams resembled a screeching creature. I then began to move like I was unruly. Everyone tried calming me down by holding me still.

This was like the last time he left. He was under all types of emotions and he disappeared. A few years ago, Manny, Amoi, our mother, and I were all at home living an unprivileged life. One day, Manny was trying his best not to snap at the E.T.U. and they came to the house and threatened him. It had to do with one of the termination unit's members. That person had a younger brother that was facing Manny for tuition for further education. Long story short, Manny snapped and killed all of the men who came to our home and were on the run.

I thought back to that experience as I was unable to control myself. "He won't stop!" Mai's father said as he was trying to hold me against the wall. "Eqihr, how do we stop this?" Mai shouted while she held my arms to the wall. While all of this transpired, my eyes shut on their own and I was in my mind.

Yanu was standing right in front of me and he had something to say. "I wanted to wait till you were under attack for this, but I guess I have no choice now." I didn't know exactly what he was talking about, but he held something important. "My essence is forced to follow you, and while being around you, I can tell you have a problem with commitment," Yanu stated. I didn't know how he knew any of this, but he must have had great knowledge. He told me that he was going to give me access to the knowledge part of my ability. He walked over to me slowly and in his right hand was a jewel. It was a large amethyst. He explained that the amethyst is a stone or jewel that links my mind to all control of my prowess.

He did mention that it would take time to get used to since I'm hosting it all at once. He gave me his farewell and he stuck the stone in my head and I woke back up. I was in a cage. The place was unfamiliar, but I knew it was Haru because from a window I could see the town hall. The door that leads to my cage then creaks open and a man with a trench coat walks inside. "Man, not even one day, and you cause destruction. Guess that's the local government's problem, not mine, "Iguess that's the local government's problem, not mine. He said before I asked him who he was, then he said that he was someone who was responsible for watching me. "So I'm in jail?" When I asked before, he said that I wasn't a prisoner, but I was only here because I needed to hide and stay out of the public so no one could see me.

That made sense because I thought that I was a prisoner or something. He rambled as he went through a series of keys to open my cage. "Honestly, you should be more careful. We're at war, and losing people will become breakfast." I stood up and the cage door opened. I walked to the door, but he stopped me from walking through. "You have to wait for your escort." He said as he walked out the door to grab one. In my mind, he could take me. He might as well since he was leaving anyway.

I looked around the room and saw an entrance to some office. I looked through a small window found on the top of the door. Inside sat a desk, filing cabinet, and an armor stand that held a sword inside of a holster. I thought this could inform me about Mai's suspicions, so I attempted to open the door. Unfortunately, it was locked. However, I was a master at picking locks. I learned this from years of stealing food. I looked around the room for a pin or something to open the door. My eyes caught a glimpse of a thin nail in the corner of the room.

After I found it, I lockpicked the door and I was in. The first thing I did was look through the filing cabinet. But it contained nothing but information about goods going towards the war. Next, I searched through the desk, and the only interesting thing I found was a letter titled, "Top Secret." The letter included war strategies and troops. The last thing I did was inspect the sword. The holster was a mixture of blue and gold. When I saw the handle, my eyes shot wide open. The handle was a scaled dragon handle. Someone found Eqihr's sword, or worse, someone in Haru is allied with Nazo and the scaled swords.
